Do you have any advice for someone that wants to use a Dillon Square Deal B without priming on-press? I find bench priming helps keep the press free of spent primer grit. And, for 45 ACP, I don't have to worry about the danger of putting a case with a small primer pocket into the press when it's equipped for large pistol primers.

CRIMP (45): you said .473 is the max and .469 is the min with .470 and .471 being the target. What about 9mm?

I tried a Hornady AP when I first started reloading....it was "good" or so I thought, some things here and there needed adjusting/tweaking but I was mostly happy. Then I was at a shooting friends house and he offered to let me try his XL650 to load some 9mm since my press was not priming correctly at the time (2nd time it had this issue btw).......accepting that offer was a mistake on my end. It took me ONE stroke of the XL650 to instantly understand just how large of a gap there was between Dillon and Hornady, night and day doesn't even begin to describe it. It was the fastest and most flawless 1000 rounds I had ever loaded up to that point and standard deviation was 6 FPS over 10 rounds and measured tolerance was less than .003 up or down with mixed brass. I had up to that point NEVER been able to achieve that, that's not even factoring how much easier it was to setup and how FAST and utterly flawless the loading process was. The next month I bought an RL1050 and 4 toolheads for it, then late last year I added a pair of RL550s to complete my setup. I'm actually thinking of getting a Super1050 as well for larger rifle production because my RL is so insanely smooth and perfect. By far the best presses I have ever used and utterly perfect in operation. I'm a true convert!

Is this the same process for bottleneck rifle cases? Or does this only apply to handgun cases? Should I have a case in the die when I’m adjusting for loading 223 and 308?

The vendors,Dillon included, have raised the prices continuously since the Rona for absolutely no good reason other than pure greed. We all know that but it's literally the price we have to pay to continue to enjoy our hobby.

I asked for help they send me to watch another video. My bar does not hang freely or strait down. It is not long enough on the 90deg elbow. Guess I’ll just take it back over a 2$ rod.

The same explanation "with the lever down" can be seen on the operating manual. An other vidéo (with the girl) shows this adjustment with the main lever up and pushed forward...like when priming operation...

The Dillon RT-1500 power trimmer does not make it as simple as stated. Even with a strong shop vac the brass collects around the shaft of the trimmer like steel wool and you must stop and take apart the vacuum module and remove the brass trimmings with needle-nose pliers before continuing after every 100 - 200 cases as reported by Dillon. “The nature of the beast” was the term used. Major Issue: The trimmer will resize and trim resized length, however stopping and cleaning brass strings and chips are necessary. Next Issue 1A: All head stamps case walls are not the same. Once resized and trimmed the former 223 or 5.56 case walls are not the same thickness and will ultimately become the case neck. CASE NECKS MUST be resized by standard die OR USE A 308 Mandrel to resize case mouth opening prior to loading and inserting bullet projectiles. Many of the reformed cases will have necks too thick to load with a .308 bullet and still chamber in a 300 Blk Out weapon without jamming in the chamber. Possibility exists it may take a gun smith to remove chamber jamb. THERE IS METHODS OF CASE PREP TO RESOLVE THIS ISSUE. Next Issue 1B: A case neck trimmer such as the “Hornady” after case is resized and trimmed to length then trim excess diameter to loadable thickness of maximum .0135 side wall thickness. Note it is best to resize once more prior to loading to verify neck uniformity as neck trimming can cause some deviations, not necessarily consistently. Next Issue 2: When trimming a problem of a ridge is created around the inside and outside the mouth opening. The heat of the brass during length Dillon trimming and resizing creates the ridge and is hardened by the heat of trimming. These ridges can create scoring of the bullet being seated, and can cause chamber jamb the neck trimming does not always remove as bullet has not yet expanded the mouth opening. The heated brass can be stubborn to remove on outside mouth more than inside.

New to Dillon. I am getting a Dillon 550c from a friend. Will I be able to reload Weatherby 30-378? From what I’ve read the powder dispenser will not work for this load (107gr). But my question is can I resize and seat on this press. Or will I also need to get a rock chucker? Total rookie here. Thanks in advance for the response.

Can you use the RT1500 electric trimmer on a RL1100? Can you set up a dedicated Toolhead/ Quick Change kit to swap the RL1100 from Case Prep to reloading? And if so would both work with the DA3000? The difference between the RL1100/DA3000 + the RT1500 vs adding 3k for a whole CP2000 is more than worth the extra effort.

Amazing - I have a Lee single stage press but looking at getting a 550 or 750. But this video explained the setup of dies so well which applies to any press. Very impressed and this means alot for your brand. I have a question: the toolhead that is being used in the square deal B will it fit in the 550 as well, they look very similar?

I've had a Dillon 550B press for more than 20 years but haven't used in the last couple of years because of health problems. I had hundreds loaded rounds of many pistol and revolver calibers in inventory so it wasn't any problem once I started shooting again. Now I'm about ready to start reloading again so I was happy to see this video and use it as a review before I start. I will have to change back to small pistol primers again and I couldn't remember all the steps. I'm not new to reloading. I started with a Lyman C press in 1965 when I was shooting with the USRPAC Rifle Team at Ft. Benning. I'll be 82 years old next month.

LUBE! It’s too true… accidentally put in an unlubed case and was it ever stuck. Ultimately had to drill out the primer pocket, then threaded it, and was able to put in a bolt (with an octagonal head), a spacer and a washer and pulled out the case by tightening the bolt. Never again…LOL
