I'd been meaning to upload the full, album version of this song for ages, so here it is at last. This is one of my favourite Billy songs ever. At least this time it's free from slimy creeps groping each other (god, I hate that video!) - just Billy and Nessie. The way it should be. :-)
The Associates - Empires of Your Heart
zhlédnutí 6KPřed 13 lety
Billy's (and my) favourite track from "The Glamour Chase". Just fucking fabulous, and anyone who disagrees needs their ears scrubbing out with a bleach soaked brillo pad. ;-P
Billy MacKenzie and Paul Haig - Stone The Memory Palace
zhlédnutí 4KPřed 13 lety
Title-ish track from "Memory Palace".
Billy MacKenzie and Steve Aungle - Gender Illusionist
zhlédnutí 3,6KPřed 13 lety
Unreleased track. I've been personally assured by Mr. Aungle that the title was originally "Tender Illusionist", but Billy obviously had other ideas when he came to sing it.

Billy MacKenzie and Steve Aungle - The Mountains That You Climb
Anyone able to confirm the lyrics? Billy Mackenzie - Three Gypsies In A Restaurant Hitler was a little man With little plans that grew and grew Astonished that an Aryan Could contemplate and ridicule Who was such a curse upon reality He huffed and puffed and blew them down But what was so omnipotent About blonde haired, blue eyed, junior brethren Ya da da..... Three Gypsies in a restaurant With smothered thoughts Near Bucharest Showed me a grate Where children play Their little souls Can never rest As I looked into the sky I then looked down and saw a fire they made a chain of silver birch with blacked out board and ember Fire Mmmm Mmmm Mmmm.... Ya Da Da... Europe saw their spirits fall Decided in the state crimes ball Falling fourteen ninety five Multiply how millions cried The human chain will circle death And break the ice from Churchill's breath Why do wings now need a trial When dancing out of communist fire Ooooooooooooo Three Gypsies in a restaurant With smothered thoughts Near Bucharest Showed me a grate Where children play Their little souls Can never rest As I looked into the sky I then looked down and saw a fire they made a chain of silver birch with blacked out board and ember Fire
a loss, total loss
Awesome voice! Love it!!!
This is just one beautiful song that no one seems to mess up. Johnny Mathis , Nina Simone, Billy, Bowie and George Michael all did great versions of it and I'm sure there are many more. If there's anyone out there that could put them all together that would be some choir of angels. I can imagine all of them singing it together up there in the wind and the clouds somewhere.....
SADLY MISSED, SLEEP TIGHT BILLY, SINGING WITH THE ANGELS NOW!!!
Lost to soon voice of an angel
Having just said that and then listened to it again... no contest! This is beyond anything! x
Love both versions. x
Apparently they "lent" the master tape of this concert out to somebody for an event and it got lost. So this is what we are left with. Whistetest
does any1 know where the outside scenes were shot?
mr smith has a lot on his soul
Oh Billy, Billy, it's a pity that no one saw... I think, that it was already in your voice the announcement of this, what in future will happen...
I have always loved Bowie's version but this is a totally different attack... memorable!
Ross is rank, especially when *he* says he is.
Love billy always I am only 33 but always loved 80s and billy especially
I love you Billy. Simply the best voice ever!
love this man and his voice ! whoau . . .
Both brilliant. This one with a heavy punk influence. Very dark.
miss ye pal x
my favourite song of Billys a perfect pop song
20 years today, god bless Billy - what a talent, what a voice!!
20 years already...miss him lots
RIP Billy, 20 years ago today you left us...
Tonto!! Brown whippet. Ate my cats food.
I'm a great fan of Shirley Bassey but there is no comparison to Billy Mckenzies version.
Rhonnda I would agree entirely. Been trying to find this for years. have had to listen to Shirley`s version coz I couldn`t find Billy`s But now !!!!!! Can listen to Billy all day !! Fabulous voice sorely missed
Billy what a legend !!
were all in the swim. thxs billy.
well that murdered a classic
Great to hear this, but I can see why they changed the lyrics, they don't scan.
Fat Sams 84... good times ...
One of the best musicians to come out of Dundee and Scotland...beautiful voice.
love him, and i,m a guy. wish you were still with us x
criminally underrated, thanks so much for the upload
Steve Niave and the Playboys!!
Fuck me, what a Soaring voice, jesus. wow
I find this quite upsetting - How could someone that beautiful, that talented ever come to the conclusion that he did? Do we really know anyone at all? Twenty years gone in 2017 - Just listen to that desolate final note and you realise what has been lost.
This record always reminds me of the summer I left school and has stayed with me ever since. Rest in Peace Billy, God bless & thanks for all the great music.
What was this programme called?
Four ppl on this planet clearly without brain cells
She drove me far too far And then I drove her car The streets are long and wide I felt I had no place to hide My courage in a glass Ich liebe wass ist das? Are you my only friend? Temptation drives me round the bend So take me to the girl that I once knew Does she know what I've been going through? I've been searching for her everywhere I think my darling's gone; I didn't care Geneva is the city of our love Are these voices calling from above? Now no-one can ever take her place No-one in the whole wide human race Society's to blame This picture in a frame Picasso told me so I guess he ought to really know My flesh was always weak My tango less than chic Such grandeur took its toll And left me here a wretched soul So take me to the girl that I once knew Does she know what I've been going through? I've been searching for her everywhere I think my darling's gone; I didn't care Geneva is the city of our love Are these voices calling from above? Now no-one can ever take her place No-one in the whole wide human race So take me to the girl that I once knew Does she know what I've been going through? I've been searching for her everywhere I think my darling's gone; I didn't care Geneva is the city of our love Are these voices calling from above? Now no-one can ever take her place No-one in the whole wide human race
Brilliant 🙏🏻
Not aged brilliantly but catchy still. Club Country still the greatest. Pity it can't be shown on totp 82 as Jimmy Savile & DLT introduced them.
this song it move me......r.i.p billy
No one can beat Shirley Bassey in this song... forever.
if only he could have seen out those bad times then today would be his comeback. He's on a par with Leonard Cohen in my opinion
exactly that ^^
Michael Carlos absolutely
MISS HIM REST IN PEACE MY FRIEND
an equal to shirley bassey
I truly miss billy Mckenzie 😢
One of my favourite all-time non-hits. Looks a bit chilly and murky in the video. Wonder where it was shot.
I love him and his music forever!!!!!
