    My cello was made in Germany at the turn of the century. I have small hands and have always had problems with the pegs. After I've tuned and pushed the pegs in as hard as possible,one or two of the strings often unravel. Very frustrating. I've tried many types of string- gut, steel, with the same result. I've played this cello for many years. Maybe it's time to buy a second cello.

    Nobody mentions that a beginner must learn to tune his or her own cello. The pegs in my cello were very difficult to manipulate- they either stuck or so loose the strings would unravel. Very frustrating.

    The tone difference is so vastly night and day it's astonishing. The German bow is much deeper, richer, and more sonorous. The French bow is more thin, nasal and has much more treble. I can absolutely understand why German orchestras refuse to even consider French bows.

    Dear channel manager/magazine staff, First, thanks for having this beautiful instrument played by this phenomenal artist! That said, while I fully support having ads, I truly wish you would mark the spots for them to be inserted, not have a beautiful long line in a passage intruded upon by advertisements. Nothing quite breaks the experience like having a movie promo and squarespace advert thrown in the middle of it. It really does detract and make me want to go to a private tab, defeating the purpose of ads at all. I know this is an old clip, but it is still so lovely.

    • @cutelittlemoose
      @cutelittlemoose Před 3 měsíci

      @@AlexEwan1 I know partners/long-established channels are able to do it (bc some say when they are breaking then the 1-2 YT ads roll lol)… maybe regular channels can’t, but I think they do it like the little chapters people can mark and give titles to… content that is very thoroughly planned out does frequently have ads either all at the start (the best to me for anything that isn’t very long) or placed where a natural break exists. It might not be for “regular” level users, but I’ve noticed channels that are delightfully OCD. (Ah, and some channels just skip YT ads and instead have their sponsor adverts injected… those work, too, and can be more easily fast forwarded through-some even timestamp where the ad breaks are so people can go past them since hearing the same ones 10x for regularly viewed content is a little maddening). I am most loyal about sitting through ads for channels that throw them all at the start and don’t interrupt the flow of the video after that. Music videos I’ve watched usually do that bc who wants to have a 5 minute song interrupted halfway with half a minute of adverts for for fast food?

    Still has the Rubbery Timbre which I hate because everyone thinks you're playing Flat. I had one of the Kurman Soundpost pickups (which has a little preamp you wear on your belt) installed in my violin (a 1880's Mittendorf Amati copy), and it made that little violin sound like Steph's Guadagnini. But the feedback was awful. The Whole instrument would about come apart at the seams. In a Grateful Dead Documentary, they explained how Owsley Stanley overcame their feedback issues with double Mikes and the two Mikes run through a phase shifter with the phase shifted 5 Degrees apart. Maybe you could do something like that with double Pickups?
