Croydon's Surrey Street Market - 1971
Surrey Street Market - the place for cheap flowers, fruit and vegetables - and all paid for in the newly-launched decimal currency.
Surrey Street was also the place to see some of the styles and habits of the ordinary people of early 70s Croydon.
Since I first posted this, I've learned that Surrey Street Market is the oldest street market in Britain, with a charter going back to the year 1276.
There's more on the history of the market on the web - try searching on 'history of surrey street market Croydon'.
I shot these clips on Standard 8mm Kodachrome.

One of the good things about winter time in Norfolk, UK. Thousands of these Pinkfooted Geese roost on the tidal mudflats of The Wash, and fly inland at dawn in search of grazing. At sunset they fly back to their roost, filling the sky with the sound of their chattering and their wings. When spring comes, the geese head back to the Arctic to breed.

Your videos are beautiful and calming. I'm moving the North Norfolk later this year and cannot wait to get out on my bike to discover these quiet places.

This is beautiful Ian. Only one problem - Horace keeps looking round the lounge for the thrush!

Thank you Sharon. Snowdrops are so small and unassuming - but they're the first spring bulbs to flower each year, and when you see them together in their thousands, at places like Walsingham abbey, they are very impressive.

i had them plants before but ass they grow to fast i had to get rid of them cause they kept clogging up the filter

I started the pond with a selection of water plnts, but this one gradually took over. I think it was the run-off of flower fertiliser from the pots around the pond that made it so good for this oxygenator.
