Are the pumpkins you're using the big orange ones they have in North America, or the mostly green ones they have in Asia? There's a big difference in flavour, and I want to make sure I get the correct one.

I must be part piggy because I react in much the same way in the presence of watermelon. I had a dear friend who was a mallard duck, and I think she was also part piggy. We used to share watermelons. She usually got the lion's share, which was fine by me. I loved that little duck. She was my constant companion for 31 years. We were only ever apart once when I was very sick and in hospital. I struggled hard to stay alive so that I could go back to be with her. It hurts like mad that she's gone, but I'd rather that it was me being without her than her being without me. No one would give her the life I gave her, and I doubt she would have lasted for long in an outdoor environment where she had no immunities built up. I'm sure that no one else would (or could) have spent the time I did with her, and I know no one else would know our language and way of communicating. It was the fact that we could communicate at a very high level that enriched us both. We talked about things which you would never guess that a duck could comprehend, and some things that you would never guess that a human would comprehend. After it was all said and done, I learned that the main difference between us and ducks (and very likely most animals) is that we have an opposable thumb, not that we have a better brain. I'm not sure what the advantage of a bigger brain is because she was able to pack as much (and in some respects more) into her smaller brain than I was into my bigger brain. She was asking me to read things to her which I was struggling to comprehend, but she seemed to understand intuitively, particularly in the field of physics. Isn't that amazing?! A duck can understand physics... Astrophysics was her favourite. She could do maths in her head at a level where I definitely needed a calculator. I don't expect anyone to believe me. We humans are arrogant, and really you'd have to have been there to have known. Her vet knew though. Acting as translator I could tell him things that he couldn't glean from other animals he treated, and it helped him a lot in helping her stay healthy and well. I can't find anyone who wants to replicate what I've done, so it will go without peer review and therefore will be denied even by science, that it is true. I am getting old and do not have another 31 years to devote to another duck or goose, so I can't do it again. I doubt that there is any desire to do this kind of work, because once you know, you can't go on living the way most humans live without a vast amount of change to your life, and a great deal of regret for what you've done. Even if you are a lifelong vegan as I am, there are things which we do in and to this world which will leave you thinking, and needing to change your life in some pretty drastic ways. I haven't completed my change. It will be complete when I turn off this computer for the last time. Then, I will be only as slightly above carbon neutrality as it is possible for any elderly disabled human or any other animal to be. It is my last vice, and it is a bad one. I guess my fear is that when I am finished with my computer I will be all alone, but isn't my feeling of not being alone with the use of the computer simply an illusion? Sometimes we are addicted to illusions when we don't have the real thing. That might be where I, and a lot of other people are, not only with our computers, but also with a lot of things. I'm getting deep, and this is getting long, so enough of it!

Judging by his big fat belly, he must get plenty to eat. And speaking of eat, can you believe that people kill those and eat them? You can see the intelligence and self-awareness in it's eyes and movements. I have a very difficult time even thinking of eating things or parts of things that are (or were) self-aware, especially in this day and age when we don't have to.

That one black attachment with the upright pole is a drying rack. It's actually a nice extra to have. I lay the auger and the hopper/lid on its base and the juicing chamber, spin brush, and strainer upside down from the pole. Helps everything dry faster and takes up way less counter space
