2HP Drums - Tutorial - The whole kit!
Three of our most popular modules are finally getting some love. They've earned it, right?
Boom, snap, click, smack, slap and grind your worries away with the 2HP Kick, Snare, and Hat.
Enjoy run-throughs of all three modules and some great patch examples as well.
Grab your sticks. Let's go!!
0:00 Intro to 2HP Drums
0:27 // Kick is a bass drum synthesizer with a dramatic timbral range.
Its flexible synthesis engine ranges from 808 to IDM with its punchy kicks and smooth distorted tones. 1V/Octave tracking across five octaves allows for tonal sequencing of the entire frequency range. Drop a beat with Kick!
www.twohp.com/modules/kick
2:23 // Snare goes from short blips to 909 hits and everywhere in between. More than just a typical snare sound, this module is a powerful sound design tool that encourages exploration.
1V/Octave tracking allows percussive melodies with atypical timbres, while snap dials in the texture of the metaphorical membrane. Hit the back beat with Snare.
www.twohp.com/modules/snare
4:14 // Hat is a hi-hat cymbal with a wild side. Finding something unique is easy with a blend of sounds ranging from robotic to metallic.
At its core are three unique sound sources made up of six oscillators, a noise generator, and a number of filters. Sizzle affects each source independently, adjusting oscillator and filter frequencies, allowing for a broad range of sounds.
In addition, separate trigger inputs for open and closed allow for a complete hi- hat pattern on a single module.
No matter what situation it's in, Hat provides shimmering, metallic timbres for any percussive purpose.

Rau Lodge
might of found what I was looking for, a rack full of effect units
Nice!!!
Looks like a super-dee-duper version of the BOSS RPS-10 I have! Nice having +/-3 8va instead of just one, and the PITCH has V/8va instead of a square wave for pitch tracking !!!!! *Nice!* I've used my RPS-10 for adding a lower bass line to strings on my old RMI Keyboard Computer to fatten them up as well as harmonizing. Just thought, get four, plug into the Instruo harmonàig to harmonize a choir! (or, whatever!)
Thank you 2hp you guys rock
I’m left unclear on how I could maintain sync and avoid drift from a clock source. Any way to lock it into an external clock during playback? That might be the make or break for me.
Can you manipulate the time of the decay between two layers in Frippertronics? thanks
Great video thanks. How exactly does you sinc incoming audio with buffered audio? @3:14
You use an extra module like a clock diverder?
The reverse function is just awesome.
Glad you enjoy it! (we do too!)
This is what I expected the freeze to be.
Oh, Freeze is so much fun!
While installing the unit i noticed a teensy loader and some buttons on the board. I can’t find any documentation on it. I assume this is just for 2hp’s programmers? I’d love to know.
The buttons/USB on the back is for flashing and testing firmware on our DSP based modules! It's only used for internal programming and for flashing firmware in the field. Sorry, probably not the super-exciting answer you were hoping for. :)
@@2hpmodular913 lol. Had a feeling. Thx for the answer!!
Can i plug my wife on this guy 😁?
I personally liked the dad jokes ;) (looking forward to get the module too)
Yeah, once they start....you know how it goes.. :) Glad you're enjoying them.
You say that the input level is a VCA, but it's not VC, is it? It's just an attenuator? It's a bit of a pity that there's no meta mode that uses different voltage levels into RECORD to select modes. But cool nonetheless! And all in 2hp (d'uh)!
Great question! And thanks for watching! :) You can only adjust the input level with the on-board knob, not with external CV. It's technically a VCA, but you don't have the ability to control it externally.
I think 2 of these would be awesome for making live chopped n screwed or “decaf” music. Take a stereo breakout cable run it thru 2 preamps, run each out to both 2hp pitchs, use an offset generator to control both pitch inputs at the same time. This would slow any song down in real time. Would be so awesome for demoing a car with a system that can do super low bass
Love the ideas! Please tag us if you do this--we'd love to see it. And thanks for watching! :)
@@2hpmodular913 I definitely will! I do have a specific question tho, when you pitch down with 2hp pitch, does it also slow the audio down as well? I really hope it does
I'm sorry, skull is very thick... trying to figure out if the pitch knob jumps between octaves? Or, can you chose other notes in the scale? Assuming the v/oct input allows you to play the incoming signal in any key, right? I want to make vocal harmonies but don't want to be limited to full octave shifts. Thanks!
No worries at all, Casey. This stuff can be a lot to take in. Yes, your assumption is correct on the v/oct input. This will track any notes on scales, not octaves only. Hope this helps!
gracias! @@2hpmodular913
@@2hpmodular913What about the knob, does it do incremental shifts?
The perfect answer for almost everything 🤣
This could have been the product tag line. Brilliant.
not sure how to ask this, is the frippertronic fading continuous with loop playing in the mode, or just when you are recording / overdubbing the loop? ( I guess I'm wondering if you can influence the decay rate? whether decay rate is quicker if you leave record toggled on??) thanks if you can clarify! Is the decay right linked to how many times the loop plays, ie do shorter loops decay more quickly?
Hi CH2365---Thanks for the question! "Frippertronics" is only captured when recording or overdubbing. If you aren't recording, the wet signal won't fade/decay. As for your question about decay rate--think about it like this. Each time the loop records, it first cuts the existing loop's volume and then records over it. So yes, shorter loops decay faster, but only because they are shorter in time, not because of anything else. Hope this helps, and thanks again for the conversation!
im kinda confused on the product. what do i need to own for this to work? or is this all i would need
Hi, Louie. Absolutely fair question. Let's start with the basics. Do you have a eurorack system this could be a part of?
Sampledelic! I love how the regular TRIG mode seems to grab transients and begin its playbacks with them. The other TRIG mode seems incredibly fun. Nice work.
Glad you like it! Slice is a fun one. Thanks for watching!
aside from making fun bleeps and bloops.. I haven't figured out a musical application of any pitch shifter.. What do you all use them for?
Fair question for sure! A few uses would be to create harmonies, add depth and character to vocal or instrumental parts, or make slight pitch adjustments to correct intonation issues. Thanks for watching - and the conversation!
Lofi. It's a whole genre that uses effects to make things sound like old LPs or cassettes.
put in on a reverb. fun things will happen.
I love this modcast
Great to have you with us! Thanks for watching!
Can we get a stereo looper in 4hp 😋
You know what we're gonna recommend, riiight??? :)

Frippertastic!
is this the qubit guy’s voice too?
yep, we are working with Johno, from the Qu-Bit channel, on videos for our channel!
A year or so back I decided to do something about a couple of faulty modules I had: a 2hp TM and a QuBit Nebulae v1. Made enquiries of both, separately- and both gave me the same mailing address! Sent off both in the one package and they were returned the same way.
Such a great module.
Agree--easy and remarkable results!
I approve!
That's great! Thanks for watching!
@@2hpmodular913 I'm determined to not just watch but to obtain. Probably have a good 12 HP of 2 HP stuff. Proud user of your equipment. I think slicing up the vowel and pluck would be a very good start.
Love this module for making a composition that’s not strictly sequencer-driven
oh, well said! Thanks for watching. :)
He sounds like the guy who does the qu bit demos
Both companies are based out of San Clemente, CA. I wouldn't be surprises if it's actually the same dude. Fonts look the same on the modules.

Same guy, different fonts. :)

Yes, we share him with Qu-Bit. :)

hi there. Is the dry signal fully analog/ without AD/DA conversion?
Hello! The dry signal is not fully analog, and runs through AD/DA conversion.
Is this a Spin FV-1 based module?

Actually, I have a rack filled with 2hp modules only, and yes it feels a bit squishy to operate, but it is doable 🙂
