    Diecast cars are mostly a metal mix, which is commonly known as "white metal". It's tin, zinc, antimony, etc., and there's simple alternative to manually sanding paint. You can easily strip it with acetone bath! I personally use cheap but strong nail polish remover (ammonia based). Pop car inside the glass jar, wait 1-2 days, and wipe both chemicals and paint with paper cloth. This bath results in clean, exposed metal, which quickly (10-30 minutes) oxidizes so after wiping it, I'd advise to apply thin coat of primer or clear varnish to prevent situation where paint would be applied to grainy or loose particles. This will prevent paint from peeling in the future. Never apply ammonia to plastics as it will melt them After that, it's just adding bits, painting - the usual ;)

      I stand corrected. Still, you are an excellent modeler! I have been building models for over half a century, now. I'm not a wargamer, but I've always been impressed by the imaginative detail in Warhammer 40K / Age of Sigmar subjects. I got a few of them to build as a 'vacation' from Panzer IVs, P-51 Mustangs, and Chevy Corvettes. As a sidebar, I remember when I was almost ten in 1969, and I was looking for a model kit to build at a local discount department store that gave two complete aisles to model kits. An 'old man' (about my age, now) commented that when he was my age, if you wanted a model plane, you had to hand carve it from pine or basswood using templates pasted on cardboard. Flash forward about fifty years, and I was at a store where a 3D Printer was being demonstrated. I just couldn't resist telling a boy about ten that when I was his age, if you wanted to build a model of anything, you had to buy a kit and glue it together . . . .@@boxnaught7428

    So i started painting/building minis not to long ago and ive got Leviathan siege dreadnought and some regular marines/ a blood angels combat squad. As for bits, literally none. I kinda want to go for a modernized 30K armor vibe with some of the "Veterans" within my chapter having heresy era traitor bits. Armor, helmets, gauntlets etc. But i also want to have the specialty part being their helmets. My nickname for them is "Bane marines" so i want to pay homage to Bane from DC. I recently got eBay just so i could brouse and see what i could do with that but at the dame time, the Warhammer community is probably the best way to accrue bits. Yall are genuinely awesome people and i hope you see this and get another burst into kitbashing, painting, and hobying once more

    • @Sturmensky
      @Sturmensky Před měsícem

      I know this comment is ages old, but I'm curious how your efforts are going? I've been pursuing a similar vibe, integrating older parts into modern models. If you also like older 40k, I've found the Devastator kit to be extremely useful for it. The weapons, arms, and packs can be fit to a Primaris body with minimal modification, and you get twenty-odd older marks of helmets.

    • @Dreadguard
      @Dreadguard Před měsícem

      @@Sturmensky Im honestly thinking about keeping the 30k armor but bringing in 40k weapons. My homebrew lore is basically a 30k legion was forced into bunkers when their home world was bombed during the heresy. Here they are in 40k emerging. The only reason Primaris exist is this legion is a small combat squad given from a legion (not decided if it's Blood Angels or Ultramarines. Idk which would be more logical) and a captain that crossed the Rubicon due to being wounded during the siege on the homeworld

    • @Sturmensky
      @Sturmensky Před měsícem

      @@Dreadguard Oh that's a really cool idea! Honestly, I love it when people do that sort of thing. I'd be curious to hear how it goes :) I went almost the opposite direction, where it's a homebrew successor chapter that's beginning to go renegade; so their ever-reduced supplies are forcing them to salvage whatever they can find/mix and match older parts to keep their newer kit functional.

      @@Dreadguard I think I remember the video you're talking about; though I'm also blanking on who did it. My kitbashing isn't as thorough yet, as it was a bit before I'd built up even a basic stockpile of parts, but I've got ideas for the future I'm looking forward to! Also, nothing's stopping me from, e.g., going back and doing *all* of a new squad with significant modifications, then mixing them and the less-modified troops together. It's what I did with my most recent assault troops - beaky helmets, Mk IV helmets, missing chainswords, and the odd bit of bolted on plate armor ahoy!
