I’ve been using these on my 2015 Solitude and they work great. Great tips on adding to your checklist. We put a label right next to the side switches reminding us to remove the locks before operating the side buttons.

Could you use one of these to prop up/support the 5th wheel hitch, once parked, to reduce front end 'jiggle'?

Those came with slideouts 30 plus years ago. Rack and pinion slides do not need them

2018 GD momentum no frame issue but lippert issuse. We need another choice than lippert maybe if they had competition there tune would change. Everyone has their own issue the dealership you buy from if they don't have quality control then you buy brand new crap rig. We have been camping 24 years and seen it all. So bitch to them all because this crop has been going on since the first camper was made

IMHO I don't think that is a good idea. In the short term it might work as designed, but long term you are putting a load on the wall of the RV and the wood frame of the slideout. I would like to see how the wall of the RV and the slideout wood frame are holding up after maybe a 400 mile trip over various road conditions.

I had these on a hybrid trailer slide. They work great - until it pushes the fascia off the slide. I won't be using them on my coach

Isn't it easier to just book a hotel room instead of hauling a bedroom with you across the country?

Newer Newmar motorhomes have an auto locking mechanism that locks on each end of their slide outs. The older models had a manual lock that you had to use a tool to lock.

So when you're done traveling can you use them outside to keep hot or cold in or out.i would imagine they would leak.

When my Lance 1995 travel trailer was new, I put Eternabond tape on the roof seams where it meets the side walls. Still looks awesome. I originally put it there to prevent black streaks from the walls flexing. Year 2 its holding up great! I used about 40 feet

Milk crates can also be used as a step if in good shape and you're light enough!

How do you place it to ensure that it doesn't punch through a wall if you hit a hard bump or rough roads?

Thanks for the reminder I need to get some of these. These slide braces have been around for years in various forms. I had one about 20 years ago. At one point some manufacturers were even including them with new RV’s. They are super handy.

We have Schwinteks and rack and pinion. They do not move at all.

When I purchased our Rockwood Travel Trailer it came with one of those. I used it a couple of times but always worried about forgetting to remove it.

So I am assuming that you need to make sure it is positioned on a stud in the wall.

Sound concept, but just seems like the "pad" that goes against the wall should have more surface area so as not to dent or wear the wall. I understand that you don't put a lot of torque on it, but it seems that while going down the highway, such a small pad would start to dig into the wall.

My slides don’t rock like the ones he showed. I’d check out the tracks. They might need adjustment.

If the slide motors commonly tend to fail, the motors should be EASILY accessible to repair. Easier to manually retract. There needs to be a new design. Just saying.😎I LOVE this channel. Safe travels.

What models of Grand Design Solitudes are being affected by this issue? I have a ST372WB and have not seen any sign of a problem. Would be nice to see model number list and a complete inspection list.

Have you heard of a product called...Through The Roof? It is a home roof maintenance product but works great on RV's. It is made by Sashco I believe. It is basically Lexel in a quart tub or 1 gallon can. It is a brush on water proofer and it is amazing. Crystal clear (like Lexel), dries very quickly and is applied very easily over any seam and is absolutely long lasting and makes anything water proof. Ohhhh...great video BTW.

I just bought a new 5th wheel. I was thinking of doing this now so I don’t have problems with the lap sealant in the future. Is that a good idea?

Hi Chris I am so happy I came a cross this video, My trailer has a crack in the black tank and taking the trailer to get repair is not and option since it is my home. I was told to replace the tank they need to know the model, or number in the tank, to order the tank, and apparently it can take two to 8 weeks! I can't go without my home for that long. So, I started making calls, and just the removal of the underbelly to check the number in the tank it is $150. I'm no afraid of power tools, so I decided I will removed the underbelly myself. and leave it down until the replacement arrives. The techs can so the rest. 🙂 it is also more likely It need a new underbelly. so Thank you.

Chris we inherited a 2004 Holiday Rambler Alumascape 5th wheel from my folks. Awesome all metal rig that we are restoring cosmetically and mechanically. This vid was enormously helpful as our cable actuated gray tank valve is stuck in the open position so I need to access the belly to repair and rejuvenate the systems in that area. However, I did use eternabond to seal a failing seal job on a hole that was cut into the belly to access valves in the past. Eternabond works way better that Gorilla tape. Thanks for the tips and suggestions.
