He's clowning himself in a way that satirizes disconnected, entitled bosses, while at the same time inviting the people around him and his audience to keep him from being a tyrant for real. On the other hand, many other TV hosts are playing a caricature of a nice/generous boss on camera, but behind the scenes are sometimes actual tyrants.

Sona is a lovely person. But Conan is too nice a person to realize that she doesn’t add a whole lot to his podcast - just laughing at his jokes. Andy on the other hand added a whole dimension to Conan’s show.
