#graves #church #tower #graveyard #wargrave The leaning tower of the former church of St Chad, also known as the 'Leaning Tower of South Cheshire' and the 'Hanging Steeple of Wimberie', is located in Wybunbury village.[1][10] The 29.3-metre (96 ft) tower is all that remains of a late-15th-century church demolished in 1833. (Later churches, replacing the 15th-century one, were also demolished in...

It is a raised lowland bog, and a rare British example of a schwingmoor and a 'subsidence mire'. The most important part of the site is a central schwingmoor, a peat bog, in places only a metre thick, floating on a water-fill...

The name of the cinema in High Street was the Plaza then became the Gaumont in 1955 and then called the Magestjc Ballroom and changed to the Top Rank Bingo in 1965 , the forgotten shop in the zHigh Street was Breedon & Middleton a real force of retailing in Crewe before closing in 1978 sadly
The Mill street corridor is just one of the projects that will be happening out of the future high streets funding of 14 million
I don't remember there being a cinema on High St, what was the name of it? I do remember Elliot's off license, The Dirty Duck and the Majestic (where the Beatles played twice, once with Best and once with Ringo).
The Plaza cinema was built on a site along High Street, Crewe that had previously been occupied by the Queens Hall, a 700 seat cinema. Within six months of the old structure being demolished, the replacement, a much larger cinema called the Plaza held a “Grand Civic Opening” on Armistice Day 11th November 1933.
It’s a really lovely churchyard with many interesting memories. Some of the stones which now serve as a pathway were originally located inside the church. Due to subsidence one can also see inside several vaults. I have many ancestors buried in this churchyard.
Why is Wybunbury called Wynbury? Another intriguing adventure into the wilds of Cheshire.
Funny, I grew up in Crewe and always pronounced it as it's spelt (as did everyone I know) but I've just checked and it is, indeed, supposed to be pronounced 'Wynbury'. I supposed it's like Cholmondeley being pronounced 'Chumley'...
May be from the old name Hanging Steeple of Wimberie
Survey Of English Place-names, the website, Wimeberie 1086 DB.
Hey have you seen the new skate park by any chance
@@Qrtyonyt did do videos on the build and when it opened my son is sk8 we did design for tipkinder sk8
Containers and wooden huts were suggested by quite a few people when the council first said about meanwhile uses
Because of the lack of any sunny weather or even summer when it comes to that, our summer bedding we put out in the garden has done nothing but rot and die. Its been a dreadful year for gardeners this year because of the lack of warm sunny weather and nothing but endless cloud and rain 😐🌧☔ Parks looking ok apart from a few problems such as the waterfall 🙂
The bridge makes for easy access.
The hole is probably from removing a petrol tank which belong to Royal Oak Garage. They did have a petrol pump many years ago.
Do you really think. Cheshire east. Will buy that idea??? Even if it a good one !
We can hope trying to get the woods open as well its proven in liverpool and its dirt cheap
What a fantastic idea for those containers!
@@carlharvey7098 the containers could even house the homeless in the winter months .
Rumours going around. Social media. That our multi carpark. Will never be open. Due to faults. It may have to be knocked down. And rebuilt. What a joke. That would be ..
It opens next Monday
I agree with you Jan you are negative , but your speaking the truth , carry on sir 👍🏻
Oh dear it's so sad to see how much Crewe has fallen into disrepair & depravity. I see it not just in Crewe but all over the country but Crewe is definitely in the worst towns category but i put the blame on the councils of certain areas Cheshire east council is totally to blame they have destroyed the town by knocking units down without any back up plans relying on government promises. Parts of Crewes history have been destroyed especially the clock tower that I thought would always be part of our history. I have just walked through town and it hurts every time. I am part of an older generation being 53 I have seen so much taken away & I know people of my age also see this. What happened to Crewe carnival it was a massive cash generator for the town there was always thousands upon thousands of people at the event the council blamed the pollution being caused by the carnival floats in the long possession🤔 I remember waiting for the big event every year it was a proud time to be alive but like everything it's been taken away. So in my final thoughts. What's left well there is absolutely nothing hardly any shops a massive pile of earth in the centre a bus station that is an absolute joke next to a bigger horrible multi story monstrosity that is having so many issues it might never open & about 90% shops boarded up with homeless people everywhere. I have so much hate towards the council blaming lack of money and inflation it's the lack of braincells that's the issue how about bringing rents down or even freezing rents for 6 months on commercial premises instead of high rents nobody can afford & how about making the citizens of this town proud of there heritage how about a massive day every year to bring in thousands of people like a carnival with a massive funfair and market on that waste ground in the town that will embrace the whole town let us be proud once again there is so much of Crewe that's been destroyed & it's sad to see the woke council should all be fired bunch of clowns who haven't got a clue unless we start standing up to these idiots we are all complicit to this destruction 👌😡
The Council have no control over the rents as they don't own any of the shops
Why build a carpark when there is NO REASON to want to park in it? The reality is Crewe town centre has been on its ars* for decades. While they could never explain why HS2 was going to make any difference, but they put the bank on it and so when what was always going to happen did, they lost the lot. Cheshire East council as frankly done awful job.
What makes it worse is it should have open in December 7 months late and still not open bus station walls cracking roof leaking they do get bodge it and scarper to do the work
To add to an earlier video , the decorators shop by the Town Hall was owned by Mrs Nellie Hemmings and David Hemmings. Which my family knew well. Great videos Jan
Yes it is a good idea. To video the town's shops for the house bound and the heart foundation have started to move in to the empty. Argos shop.
Cracks happen in all new builds due to drying out and settling
Have you turned on monetization on your channel?
6:49 i think you will find that its a Muscovy Duck, its a sort of mix between a duck and a goose from south America. I could be wrong but that is what i think it is. Stoke on Trent is a dump but it does have some nice green areas like Westport Lake, Parks and some of the Cemeteries.
@@hobouk3871 yes that what it is couldn't remember right name when filming. Every graveyard in SOT I have taken photos for Google maps and few CZcams videos of horrors like golden hill, burslem witch audley
All that scaffolding just for the roof ... someone is getting. Well paid
Why the hell have they built a multi story car park,?. That's how councils waste our money. Madness.
Im sure whatever theyre doing in high street itll be as bad as everything else this council wastes money on every year... and theres still pot holes
Keep up the good work Jan lad 👍🏻
The plans for the Mill street corridor are on Cheshire east website and clearly shows how pedestrians and cyclists will be crossing Vernon way
Might it not be a good idea to get some facts to back your assumptions. Just guessing and passing them off as gospel is misleading.
Just saying.
Do you like anything happening in Crewe. You
I recently visited Crewe after a four year absence, I only see Degeneration!
It's is Crewe they won't have got up yet ahah😂😂😂
Physical shopping is dead, what folk come out out for is to socialise. So like other towns we need to have social areas with micro bars, cafes, entertainment , street food etc. The market hall has shown us this but it’s too restrictive. The new open area next to the multi storie park is ideal.
Be interesting to see what they are doing with the Limelight... they're saying it's going to be turned into flats, but they've seen saying that since the place closed down in the late 2000's!
Or they can knock the limelight down As they have done with most of Crewe's. History

@@JanWright yeah mate good video..probably the biggest industrial dumping ground in cheshire? amazing what mother nature can do when left to it..born in crewe by the way!
I moved to Congleton a couple of years ago, it was a good decision, Congleton's a lovely place. The boat you mentioned used to be a restaurant a couple of decades ago but it closed down (I hear the guy who ran it wasn't terribly popular around town!) and it's been rotting away ever since. If you're doing another graveyard video could I suggest St Peters, it's got a wonderfully old and atmospheric graveyard you might find to be of interest...
My main job is taking photos for Google maps with 114 million views of my photos if you look on maps there are lots of photos of st Peter's I have taken every grave yard from Whitchurch to Stoke on Trent all the ones around Congleton
what? The congo is a dump..full of stoke vagrants.
Hello Jan. Nice to meet you on D-Day in Crewe's Memorial Square. It was thoughtfully done and the British Legion were well turned out as always. Thanks for recording this important moment in history.
Dirty alley ways, probably a lot of those houses are rented , so it’s a “ not my problem mate “ attitude . Keep up the good work Jan , put pressure on the council 🤪🤣
Btw the skate park is open now
Hello, I hope you are well. I saw your CZcams channel. Your channel and video content are very good. But here are some problems: 1. SEO score is very low 2. No title - description - tags are SEO friendly 3. Not sharing on social media platforms and your CZcams channel is a lot of trouble. 4. Also, the thumbnail design is not attractive. As a result views, likes and subscribers are not increasing. Benefits of 100% SEO Score: 1/ Views will increase 2/ Likes will increase 3/ Customers will increase 4/ Viewing time will increase 5/ Business will increase 6/ Audience will increase. So, if you want your channel to increase subscribers, views, likes and comments with proper video SEO, Google ads and monetization. It will be your right decision. Do you want to increase your SEO score?
A pride flag near the memorial?
A few people made comments about that they could have removed it at least for the day in respect
I didn't know about that memorial in the church. I will take my daughter to see that thanks. She's part of the air Cadets and wants to join the RAF. 😊

I tend to agree with the they are all the same mentality .but no other MP could be as bad and self serving as the latest tory freeloader .a man who can't even be arsed to stand at the upcoming election.if the local MP is bailing out what hope is there for C&N ???

Jan you are correct about the election all three main parties are from different cheeks on the same ARSE. Delamere st cycle lane is stupid but I do use it every day I am more concerned about the potholes getting bigger and expanding .
