It's wierd to think the town had a railway! I grew up in the 90s spending most my time in the valley gardens, playing in the beck or making tree swings across it. Best times of my life!

Hello, Gus Brennan here, WAC, I must assume that the "W" stands for William, maybe after your dad Billy, ? Yes indeed we are cousins . I had the pleasure of knowing and being your mum and dad's nephew, along with my two brothers and five sisters. Your mum was the youngest of the gillies family, and she was great fun. We lived at 23, Cornwall Street, and we all seemed to live in the same street. We moved to Castlemilk in the mid fifties, as we had outgrown our room and and kitchen.....lol.I was ten years old .I always say Cornwall Street was the best place ever to be brought up, but needs must, and Castlemilk it was. We then moved to Yorkshire in 1962 and been here since. I like to hear a bit about you. Susan Burns says she has spoken to you quite often. Cheers
I enjoyed this,made me sad to see how England has changed,(for the worse,)and how immigration has ruined it.
It is my understanding, Michael, that England has had waves of migrants over the centuries: Romans, Normans, Scots, Irish, to name but a few. Furthermore, England has done quite a considerable emigration itself; to the detriment of their cultures-according to the indigenous populations!

I remember when I lived in UK every city town , village had remembrance services attended by hundreds of people. Now in many major towns very few people attend these services to respect those who gave their lives that today people can live off the fat of the land. It is disgraceful in towns with major immigrant populations no respect shown for the fallen.

@@highpath4776 It's a Cortina Mk 3, Cavaliers started in the mid-70s but only as saloons, no estates until years later
The car at 12.55with its rear showing. Looks like Rainhall Rd, but the car is very unusual.
