Yes I still remember my first peds patient in 2008 or 2009 at Children’s hospital. ❤I hope she is alive and well! Outside of my peds rotation, I have never done peds because I cry seeing children sick. 😢
Damn! SMH! I thought I had it bad in nursing school and maybe a little when I started out as a new nurse, but you had it worse! Been practicing over 10 years and I’m a somewhat new NP now. And I’m a nice nurse and NP and would never call another nurse dumb or talk bad about a nurse behind their back. God bless y’all!
People who fucking get into careers for the wrong reasons. These people should all be fired, and shamed because they’re literally there to help people and all they do all day is complain and have ego trips … and treat patients like shit.
AI would be the answer. Having robots looking like people would be the solution.
Bish, shut up and go get my pain medicine.. as aomeone who has given birth twice and each time they thought i was lying or something. I coded with the first baby, and almost coded with the second, plus i have lupus which took years to diagnose, i have a love and hate relationship with the nurses.
Nursing course is hard to get into. In my time, since the school I went into had a 100% passing rate for many years, first qualification is that you have to be in the upper 40% of the graduating class, otherwise you’re not qualified. Then there’s the nursing qualifying exam aside from the university exam, then a series of interviews after that. Those who passed all those, will have their names posted in the college’s bulletin board and only then you can enroll. 😂 when I enrolled in law school, there was also a written exam, and if you passed the written exam, a panel interview will be conducted and only successful applicants can enroll for law school. 😅 thankfully, I passed all of those and passed the board as well as the bar examination both on first take. 😅 So when people say to me that I’m not qualified, I’m like meeehh! 🤪 Like who you kidding?! Your exams were easy peasy… they try to bring you down with lots of excuses, and some of which even sounds ridiculous!😂 I actually confronted my head when I was working at a company, and when I gave my reason, she can’t even speak clearly as to why she gave me that rating.😂
I hate when people say nurses make bank. Dawg we don’t. We’re one of the lowest paid trades in the world.
Congratulations on the pay raise bro! Always keep the positive vibes and enjoy the journey bro 👍👍
Medicine is so driven by entering data into a software program that caring nurses rarely have time to really care now. They have 15 minute data that they must enter on their four other patients.
Yes. You did a good quit.
Toxic nurses have no place in nursing. When they take time to mind everyone else’s business to bully, that’s because they’re not utilizing their time on the clock to do their job. It’s a way to deflect blame for their own inadequacies and incompetence and immaturity onto others. Eventually they take workplace mobbing and bullying out on patients. Carle Hospital in Champaign Illinois leads the way in taking workplace mobbing and bullying out on patients. Bullying seems to be normalized by some hospitals as a culture. There are better paying jobs in other nursing fields aside from acute care nursing. I took down a half of the second shift once because I was once a supervisor and caught one of the victims who was constantly writing notes so I dug in deeper into the matter. They were timeline notes taken daily of various incidents. Other employees corroborated her written statements. I took the last 2 pages of the victim’s note, called my DON and gave the notes to the administrator. The bullies were instantly fired. I have no tolerance whatsoever for this harassment, nonsense and freshmen high school antics and the disruption and stress on staff. That was my only experience with workplace bullies. When new workers came on board, our DON made it quite clear that creating a friction amongst the workers not be tolerated and we were here to help others, including staff. This was also made clear in their employment policies. We also won the highest awards by the American Health Care Association. We had no employee turnover for 2 straight years. We had to turn down applicants. It was a fun and happy place to work for everyone. After a change of ownership, everything went straight to hell, so I spent the rest of my nursing career in agency nursing, teaching other nurses how to do this type of work. I ran into some rookie and unprofessional nurses who constantly bitched and whined about everything and everyone and I’d call them out on their weak playground bullying catty bullshit and watch them deflate. They don’t intimidate me at all because they’re weak nurses to begin with.
Nurses also attempt to bully ancillary personnel, I am a registered invasive cardiopulmonary tech. , I have worked in Critical Care for over 50 years......
Unfortunately hospitals throw any senior nurse (usually last minute) into a position of preceptorship. Preceptorship is a skill in its own right.
I think it all starts in school. So much drama in school it’s crazy. I just try to stick to myself now.
Lol we had a cna try to write up the charge nurse cuz she told the cna to log in her work pager 2 hours into the shift. "Dont talk to me like im a child "
x-ray here hope shits gets better for yall.
Be in G asain
Pharma shills aren’t into helping people. I know I’m shocked. 😱
You know what - complain to each other in the breakroom, away from ear shot of patients - that's fine - get it off your chest. It's actually better if you do that. But when on the floor, your profession is based on properly caring for your patients with dignity and respect, even if they are being a little ridiculous. Being stuck in a hospital, confined to a bed, and suffering the symptoms of your condition is not at all fun or easy to patients who are used to being independent and functional. Sometimes the extremity of the condition and being confined to an unfamiliar place causes one's brain not to function normal as well. When my pain or inflammation goes up, my brain ability goes down. It's embarrassing to have to be helped with every little need and we certainly don't like to bother you about it. Great nurses understand our vulnerability and impotence in such situations and empathetically serve us - thank you to all of you, BTW.
I had to complain to the head nurse at a hospital to get the other female nurses to take my mom to the bathroom because they removed the porta-potty that allowed her to use it herself, but when my mom called for help to the bathroom, she was told to just pea and poop on herself in bed because the nurses were too busy (on their computers at their station). I criticized them for not giving my mom dignity and requiring her to lay in her own excrement until they were ready to change the sheets and clean her off all because they got tired of taking her to the potty. And then demanded they return to porta-potty to her bed if they didn't care so much. The original nurse who set up the porta-potty yelled at the other nurses and returned the porta-potty to her bedside. She gave me her name so I could call her again if the other nurses refused to help. Talk about ick - you lay in your own excrement and then tell me how it is okay to leave patients like that especially when you're trying to avoid further infection.
As a patient about 2 months ago, you learn what shift the good ones are on. I had a nightshift nurse that help me god if she had to bring me ice. Luckily, I was somewhat better enough that I didn't need much of anything.
Been there and I wasn't even a nurse. Was an AF medic, loved working with most of our nurses but omfg the flight nurse that got moved to a MSU unit was the biggest jerk (I've been out over 20 years so can say it now) to me and the other medics. And then was shocked, just shocked, when he got the bare minimum from techs working with him.
Fair enough, you get underpaid, underappreciated, its so stressful and on top of it all, mandated to wear masks and get experimental injections just to keep your job, its evil
I had no clue this type of behavior was even a thing.. Mental evaluations should be given in a majority of occupations now days, it’s absolutely ridiculous that anyone should be having to deal with bullying in the work place.
Nursing school doesn't talk about bullying because some instructors are bullies too
The whole being reported for tapping your foot falls squarely on your boss for tolerating that kind of petty behavior instead of saying "stop wasting my time with this nonsense" and making it known that this isn't high school anymore and if they're working in a professional environment they need to act like it and be mature.
It happens in x-ray too. It's so frustrating because the techs that are like are also so disrespectful to their patients. I had my own issues with techs and other students. I was also pregnant so that made things harder and got so many inappropriate comments on my pregnancy.
That's crazy that it happens in x-ray in your area. Here if you got a reputation of being rude to coworkers or disrespectful of patients, you'd better keep that one job forever or move entirely because everyone in a 3-4 county radius will know. Everyone in xray is connected, has multiple jobs, or has history with people everywhere
Ugh yes! The first nurse who trained me was HORRIBLE and a complete jerk who was always trying to find a way to make me look stupid even though I was just out of nursing school.
This bullying stuff sounds more like elementary school than high school to me. I was an outcast in elementary school, but by the time I got to high school, the kids had grown up and stopped all of that nonsense by then.
I felt that. Dang. New subscriber here! You seem like someone I'd be friends with! And you spread that message Alex!
Ive worked as a lab teck and the amount of gossip and backstabbing that i seen was exausting.
Damn
Honetly the female OBGYN I saw was sich an awful experience I refuse to get a pap test and Im 30. This a hole had her whole hand inside me and was asking which part was actually painful - i cant even have sex bc im so small yet this lady has a HAND inside and asking which part hurts?? ALL OF IT GET YPU WHOLE HAND OUT OF ME AND WE CAN TALK ABPUT WHERE AND WHAT HURTS!!!
Unfortunately because of the good pay, nursing is getting filled with people who don't care about people, have no interest in medicine, and have no bed side manner. They come for the money Unfortunately
I love how you didn’t even mention so CNA for extra points 😅.
Before they got fired, all the nurses were probably laughing it up. Like yeah I can relate to that. Then they got fired and all the nurses are like, omg I can't believe they would say these things lol. You think I believe you aren't the same? It's probably like 90 percent of you are like this. This is the standard of today. Good for nothing doctors and nurses who don't care to do their job. It's literally in every hospital at this point.
Keep tapping your foot if that's what keeps you stable/grounded without knowing it.
Thanks for sharing. Shameful nurse bullies.
😭 😂😭 can you tell someone to come back on teaching
Imagine working for a State Dept. of Mental Health Services and getting the same messaging 😫
Why do you guys even answer such questions. why not report them to your staff and demand a different patient? They are sick it doesn't mean they get to be racist and inappropriate.
Just be a Nurse in the Bay Area California. A staff nurse there earns more than being a travel nurse.
Not to be a Pick Me nurse but, while having seen stuff like this myself, I promise some of us are working very hard and are genuinely getting to you as soon as possible and feel really bad.
i always said nurses are cannibals .. they eat their young .. it is awful ..
I had senior nurses bullied many patient care assistants. It happens all the time.
Women runs the show in nursing field. Most of them are feminist and they loved that power.
HOW DARE YOU TAP YOUR FOOT!!!! I am so shocked that a trusted healthcare worker would do such a normal thing and am clutching my pearls.
I a new nurse who had the same experience as you!! Your vedio let me find out that I am not the only one who have been suffereing from that, which is great! :) Thank you for sharing!
Bullying, tribalism and power plays in a female-dominated profession? I find that incredibly hard to believe. Just ask the Barbie cult
bro Just Keep Doing You!!
