Park Fire , Challenging Road
Sometimes it can be challenging for fire crews to reach their assignments on a fast moving fire. This is Cohasset Road on the first night of The Park Fire. Two Cal Fire Dozer transports and one Dozer Tender have to judge the safest moment to pass through the fire and jump ahead. This look is shot on foot and with my dash mounted camera. July 24, 2024 about 10 pm.

Firefighters in Grass Valley responded to vegetation fire on Nevada City Hwy. Named The Nevada Fire, it spread to Sierra Motor Sports Honda Dealer doing extensive damage. According to KCRA tv a woman was arrested and charged with arson to an occupied building. The fire burned 1.5 acres of wildland.

The Park Fire on the third night rapidly spread North to cross Ca. Hwy 36 near Paynes Creek in Tehama County. Wind driven, high temps, low humidity made fighting this fire extremely difficult. It is more than 41 miles from the Point Of Origin in Chico to Paynes Creek where the fire crossed HWY 36 .

The Shirley Fire in the SNF June 14 2014 . The fire burned 2,545 acres and the cause is still undetermined. The use of VLATS & LATS effectively kept the fire in check. The results of arson. The Oak Fire in Midpines, California July 22, 2022. The Fire burned 19,244 acres and destroyed 193 structures. A former firefighter was arrested on June 16, 2023 for multiple counts of felony arson. These are some of the structures that burned the first night.

Nevada County and even the State of CA should be sued, only by two factors..leaving all that high dry grass (wtf?) CA should be sued for the homeless situation that caused this (and countless other fires) to begin with. Complete negligence, regardless of arsen! Thank for the video. Sad sad sad. My Dad bought us twins brand new ATC 70’s there back in 1985. This fire could have been prevented!!

I spent summers in Mineral and Childs Meadows as a child in the 50’s with my Dad when they were repaving all the roads in that area,I have very fond memories. Does Childs Meadows still exist?
I was last there on the 6th, Childs Meadows was well protected then. I suggest you check out the latest info from Cal Fire via google. I am pretty sure they kept the fire out of there

Here in Chico,, about 400 firefighters left Friday heading towards Mineral, with they're equipment, lots of equipment.

We have a different type of vegatation in Sacramento this year. Basically alot of regular grass. Not a heavy ground fuel, I know they exist, but there is a difference. It equates into a hot flashy fast fuel for about Aug maybe before.
I think we will see those conditions much sooner, maybe in early May. All bets are off as we are entering a drought condition not seen in 1200 yrs. The winds will dictate everything and based on the last 10 yrs or so .... I'm not optimistic.
