I enjoyed seeing Amma from India, at the Hyatt from 2006 to 2011. It was very different and a lot of fun. I was sorry to see it close in 2016. I always hoped someone would buy it and make the necessary repairs. It truly was a unique building and still is.

Several of these vids are NOT from Corunna (Nova), they are of Imperial oil/Esso chemicals in the south end of Sarnia. I should know as I worked at Nova Corunna about 4 decades ago for almost 5 yers. It was called Petrosar back then. I also worked at Dow chemical, Shell Chemical, Ethyl Corp, Suncor and Syncrude in Ft McMurray in Alberta, Also Liquid Carbonic and Chinook Chemicals (near Sombra but has been closed and torn down for decades). I had friends who worked at Esso.

2:24 South end of Wing Lake. View is Looking South by South West. Old Wing Lake Elementary school is in the Top Left. A long roof building. I Climbed up on that roof in 4th Grade on summer. The stone library of old Wing Lake School was the original 1 room school house built in 1859. Today the old elementary school is Wing Lake Development Center.

I used to work inside that building. It was very nice, it seems like something could have been done with it.

As of May 2024 this is in the process of being demolished.

1. Cant run a private school when you cant justify what you payin for which forces yo students to end up leaving for bigger schools 2. Its unfortunate but if you cant pay tuition you outta luck but that aint what happened. 3. The building has been the same since 1960......... 08' you lose 70% of yo potential incoming high school students, gonna be hard to stay open. I knew people who went the whole k-12 at Urban, the last ones i knew of graduated within 3 years after me.

Forty-two years ago, this month. My husband and I spent our first few nights there as newlyweds. We had a suite. It was a beautiful place then. I am glad it's being torn down. Thanks for the video.

I remember The Rolling Stones being there when they played in Detroit years ago. Mick Jagger would disguise himself and rode in the back seat of the monorail back and forth from the hotel to the shopping mall. Never getting off, just spending quiet time to himself. I miss the monorail. Dearborn's version of The Disney Land Monorail. 😂

Made some of the best memories EVER with my Dad on this island,relining refractory brick in"A"furnace for "Graycor"under big Pat Keely!! Own a 3XL orange,black and white"Zug Island Last Cast" shirt,and a customized matching white cap with orange embroidered letters reading:"Zug Island forged and tempered". Didn't know exactly what my Dad meant by:"Man,leave them broads alone and get some SLEEP,;they're about to"tap" "A-furnace" and Pat Keely gonna' be running "7-12s"into June!!" I learned from an excellent book called:"Zug Island;A Detroit Riot Novel" that to"tap"a furnace,means to drain all the slag and limestone out of it!! I'll never forget the first day the relining for"B"furnace started in '95,when big Pat told my Dad:"No offense Cyrus,but your boy don't LOOK like much."My Dad replied:"None taken;he might NOT look like much,but he's strong as an OX,and will outwork ANY of those jack-legged chumps you had working out here last spring on the "C-furnace" tear-out!!!" Noboy's mentioned the mettalic RED dust that won't be removed from your cars' interior,or your clothes?!? The back of my customized"Zug Island"cap reads:"Red dust Isle."

The first few minutes shows C building which had 8 wards in the 4 wings on the side and in the middle was the cafeteria for C building and a gym. Weird not to see the long breezeway that connected it to the admissions and security building and a shorter breezeway from there to the main 8 floor building. They had started removing the asbestos in the 90s out there. don't know if they finished as I got too badly hurt and had to take a medical retirement.
