My Father, George Devereaux, flew those from the recapured Philippines into the Japan mainland. Before the F4f-7 Wildcat came along side, they lost 1/2 the planes on each mission......(along with equipment failure & running out of gas). He & the crew were awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross for something (I don't know, do you?) Does anyone anyone (or children) know of my father?

This guy really is a truly great human. I'm not even a guy who supports war, but he is a true inspiration for what a solid human should be under horrible circumstance. I'm glad that he found peace ❤

I like the version of this aircraft that was equipped with a rotary tri-barrel gun underneath and that storage area was filled with ammo. I think that even today it would be a great loitering aircraft in support of special opps like a less expensive AC130. A lot of times I would think that there would be no need for a 105 or 40 and a simple 50 cal. would do wonders. With modern sighting and electronics I think it would be very effective.

Oh wow. Temple Texas. It’s where i learned to fly. Runway 15 was the favorite. Brings back many fond memories. Cessna 6279M took me on many trips.
