Caliper bolts have a torque setting . Also I would not advise anyone to buy brake parts off the internet. I have had customers supply parts that are not even good fakes. There are warnings of brake parts, spark plugs, filters, bushings, clutches and suspension arms coming into the trade all the time. Some are very good , our LUK clutch rep said some are so good now they have had trouble spotting them but have now put additional security on parts. . Also be aware many fakes are not that much cheaper , which gives the added impression that they are genuine. Personally the only difference I could see between the real NGK spark plug and the fake one , was the missing ground electrode which had scored the bore.....

while it might be quick i remember when i do mine the pads are the easy part of it the clip that goes on the side being a Ford took like 10 times the time of doing the pads as they are a pain in the ass

Caliper slide pin lubrication with silcone grease while you were there, vital part of any brake job to prevent sticking calipers which are common on MX5s also careful about removing metal from the pad (more likely corrosion on caliper mount bracket needs cleaning instead) or they will rattle over bumps. That quote seemed a little iffy though ! Nice to see the MX5 again 😊

You’re a good mechanic , keep it up . During Covid it kept in sane driving about around the country roads near me . I’m sorry you got my car as your 1st . I had a garage that forgot to tighten the wheel nuts and it messed the rear divers side . That’s why it doesn’t have a lock nut . I tried fixing it myself but made a mess .

I replaced mine with LED they differently white(top and bottom, parks and brights), nice video💪

Hey mate, looking at buying an R8 (probably around 2014) but probably the V10 plus. What are they like in terms of issues generally? Not so fussed about servicing or brakes etc but more the major stuff like gearbox, engine, steering rack etc. Any advice would be appreciated pal 👍🏻

I'm not sure about your video as you do not meet the engineering side of understanding. You shouldn't really be on sports plus pushing your car until your oil temp is 85 degrees, please. Secondly your will appreciate the seat belt warning light when you have kids and finally why would you complain about mpg when you always choose to drive in sports plus 🤦🏽‍♂️

You're doing this wrong. The usual problem is the lever inside the brake drum that is attached to the hmdbrake cable. They seize up so the brake ahoes don't spring back fully, then they wre down. You have to make sure that lever isn't seized up. Either take it apart and grese the pivot points, or replace it. Put the drum back on and remove the rubber plug, poke a screwdriver through and tighten up that adjuster one click at a time until the shoes grab the drum. Then back it off by 2 or 3 clicks. Only after doing that should you try and adjust the handbrake tension using that nut behind the handbrake lever. You can tighten it up to get it through an MoT but if those internal levers are rusty and stuck it won't be long before the handbrake slackens off.
