How to make a DIY Waves Titan SoundGrid Server
components :
- Motherboard: Gigabyte Z490I Aorus ultra LGA1200
- Proecessor: I9-10900K
- Ram: Corsair Vengeance LPX DDR4 XMP 2.0. 2x8GB
- CPU cooling: Noctua NH-L9i
- SanDisk Ultra Fit 16 gb
- Power: SilverStone FX350-G
( make sure you choose a case with good airflow for this build )
everything you need :
- Windows PC
- Generic Ethernet Switch
- Waves Central
- V14 SoundGrid Studio + eMotion 8ch ( activate free licence here )
- Rufus
- 7-Zip
- AOMEI Partition Assistant
Step 1 :
Insert the 16gb usb drive into your PC, use Rufus to create a bootable Syslinux 6.04 drive ( if you have a fresh install of Rufus you may have to wait for 10-20 minutes for the system Images to load )
Step 2 :
Open 7-Zip, Navigate to C:\ProgramData\Waves Audio\SoundGrid Firmware\SGS\
open SGS_14.9.wfi
extract the 3 folders ( boot, EFI, Version ) to your USB drive
Step 3 :
Open AOMEI Partition Assistant, right click your bootable drive, select Resize Partition and make the bootable partition as small as you can ( should be around 40mb ). Now you have roughly 14gb of non allocated space left which is going to be used by Waves to upgrade the firmware of the server.
Step 4 :
Plug the USB drive into any USB port on the motherboard ( make sure boot priority is set to USB partition in BIOS )
Restart the server, let it do its thing ( takes about 12 seconds to boot )
Step 5 :
Plug the server and the PC to your switch, open SoundGrid Studio, setup your server into slot A.
If it appears in SAFE MODE, press Shift + F to force update the firmware and select the non allocated space from your USB drive.

Hi, can you tell me where to download 7-zip?
Great video! Will it work on emotion LV1 or is just for SG Studio?
My server shows safe mode, can this be removed?
I can't get Rufus to give me syslinux option, im so close
I've waited for a long while
You click "show advanced drive options" for it to list the extra boot isos
Every time the server shuts down, you hold down the switch?
Coco, where did you get the syslinux 6.04 iso? Is there any way you can arrange this?
It's been more than 15 minutes and it hasn't just popped up
Thank you so much brother, this video is so much help ❤ Can we do this on Intel Nuc or mini pc? I want to make a portable waves server.
Thank you GOooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooD
Do I need to install any operation system or software on my server before booting the usb?
syslinux is the operating system
Hi Coco, i have an old minipc, dell optiplex with i7 7700t in there, does waves version 14 soundgrid system, can be run in my mini pc as server when i doing what you have instruct us on this video?
Same question here… have you tried it?
Cool - et la suite ? cela fonctionne-t-il ?
yes ! avec tous les logiciels soundgrid :) sur les dernieres versions il faut juste désactiver Hyperthreading et Turbo Boost dans le BIOS
@@cocofocan Thanks for the video! Is it possible to deactivate hyperthrading and adjust fan speed in dell optiplex 7050 BIOS? I cannot find these options available
If I booted from this usb on my main computer, would it overwrite any of my existing files or does it only boot and update firmware from within the usb?
I don't understand your question, but the bootable usb you create doesn't overwrite anything. It all depends on what boot order you have set on your PC, if boot option number 1 is Windows Boot Manager, then it will always boot into windows unless you set it to boot from elsewhere. Keep in mind that the server only boots from the usb key, then the system is loaded into the RAM, so if you unplug your usb key while the server runs, it's not a problem, just don't forget to put it back in if you want to boot again in linux next time.
So, usb stick must be connect always, or when install is final, it is booting from disk? Thanks
thank you for this video its a great help for me
