Strange hairy growth during reaction of mercury with aluminium
Here we show the strange growth from the surface of aluminium when it reacts with liquid mercury. We also show how we obtained a good reaction and what we think the hairy material is.

Gas Adsorption Isotherm - Types and Interpretation
zhlédnutí 11KPřed 2 lety
In this presentation we show the different classifications of gas adsorption isotherms and how they relate to pore characteristics. We show how they are applied to the determination of pore size, and pore volume.
Gas Adsorption and Desorption Isotherms Explained

In this presentation we show gas adsorption and desorption isotherms: the presence and classification of isotherm hysteresis and how this affects our interpretation of isotherms when determining pore size distributions.
The origin of hysteresis in gas adsorption - desorption isotherms

In this presentation we explain the origin of gas sorption hysteresis, how it applies to different pore geometries and how it affects our interpretation of isotherms when determining pore size and pore volume data.
Chemisorption Analysis by Static and Dynamic Gas Sorption
zhlédnutí 3,2KPřed 3 lety
In this presentation we show the two most common methods of chemisorption analysis: static and dynamic/ pulse. These are used for the characterisation of catalysts to determine active metal dispersion, surface area and crystallite size. We also show some other analytical techniques which can be undertaken, including Temperature Programmed Analyses and Heat of Adsorption analysis.
Introduction to Chemisorption Analysis: Theory

An introduction to chemisorption analysis by gas adsorption for determining the characteristics of active catalyst species. This presentation covers some background theory and shows how we calculate catalyst dispersion, active area and crystallite size.
An introduction to gas sorption analysis, pore size and BET surface area measurement
zhlédnutí 72KPřed 4 lety
In this video we show the process of gas adsorption during the measurement of gas adsorption / desorption isotherms. We present the process of adsorption as the isotherm is collected, showing regions of the isotherm that relate to micro-pores, meso-pores and macro-pores, as well as the BET surface area. Finally, we show the derivation of micro-pore size data using DFT and meso-pore / macro-pore...
How to use N2 and Kr gas adsorption isotherms to calculate BET Surface Area
zhlédnutí 11KPřed 4 lety
We use gas sorption software to show you how to fit BET transform data to a nitrogen adsorption isotherm to calculate BET Surface area. We then show you a poor quality nitrogen adsorption isotherm of a low surface area sample and compare it to a krypton adsorption isotherm. This shows how useful krypton adsorption isotherms are when we analyse very low surface area materials
BET Surface Area Measurement by Krypton Adsorption Instead of Nitrogen Adsorption
zhlédnutí 8KPřed 4 lety
In this video we show the measurement of BET Surface Area using krypton adsorption isotherm data. We show that for very low surface area materials nitrogen adsorption data becomes unreliable due to free-space correction errors. We then explore why krypton adsorption provides high quality isotherms when analysing low surface area materials and we compare nitrogen and krypton isotherms and BET Su...
An Introduction to BET Surface Area Measurement
zhlédnutí 67KPřed 4 lety
In this video we present the calculation of BET surface area from gas adsorption isotherms. We start by looking at the adsorption process and mono-layer formation during a nitrogen adsorption analysis and then we explore the BET region of the isotherm. We present the BET equation in terms of the theory behind it and then the practical application of it to calculate the BET surface area of a rea...
