Welcome to Chris's Beer Reviews. This channel was set up as I found a passion for Craft Beers. After a while of drinking craft beers I decided to take the next step which was to review them and share them with as many people as possible.
Now I am not saying there is anything wrong with drinking mainstream lagers and they certainly have a place, however what I would say is there are many better lagers available from craft brewers, but yes they are a bit more expensive.
But it's not just about lagers there are stunning stouts, ales, IPA's, sours, and many more fantastic beers out there.
Over the last few years there have been some cracking craft beers available in supermarkets, so it's fantastic craft beers are available to everyone.
I won't just be reviewing craft beers, I will review all beers from all places, and occasionally I will do the odd food review.
Thank you for viewing my channel and please consider subscribing.

I started this beer reviewing channel after I found myself searching out lots of craft beer breweries and enjoying amazing beers, I then decided to start the channel to share these beers with you, however I also realised people like to see beer reviews of every type of beer including beers that are available in supermarkets. so yes whilst I do review a lot of craft breweries I will review any beer. On the odd occasion I will also do food reviews.
whilst I enjoy reviewing beers I also enjoy watching other beer reviewers and I have made some good friends in the beer review community.
Here is a list of some other beer reviewers I like to watch (there are many more I watch).

You could keep to two beer videos a month and two cooking ones. You are a natural behind the camera, so don’t leave us !! X
I missed out on this one However hoping Lidl UK will get this back in when Oktoberfest starts 🇧🇪🥨🍻
Do what suits you Chris, a lot of the craft beers have been mimicked so often that they've become as bland and boring as the macro lagers, I'm 51 now and it's more about quality than quantity for me , there's no harm in mixing things up with the odd cooking/ camping trip videos, best of luck with whichever direction you take the channel.
Hey Chris, I hope you one day go back to reviewing craft Beer one of these days if something new comes along so cheers
I think you have to do what's best for you. Do what you enjoy, if that's an occasional beer people will be here for that. All the best, cheers #Disco
Cheers Disco, hope you are well.
Does this only work with cans that have to 'balls of nitrogen' because I have tried it with a couple of cans that have the nitro widget attached to the bottom of the can and it always sounds like the nitrogen has been released even when left to 'degas' slowly.
I have found it works on all varieties of nitro/widget cans.
Where are you buying this 16% & 20% from ?
O.J sent them to me. But I am sure you can buy them online from them.
Sometimes you just need to step back from reviewing for a few months..
Beers like this make me thankful I make my own beer! Lads and lassies do yourself a favour and buy a Grainfather and some real ingredients 👍
Sounds great! I have always fancied ago at making my own beer.
Morning mate, probably your best video, and it wasnt even a beer review! I think the general vibe is we enjoy watching and listening to you, regardless of the content. Lovely to see honest reflection, do what you need to do bud, the channel will look after itself
Thank you for the kind words. It is really heart warming when people leave comments saying they watch me not necessarily the beer. So thats fantastic. I have a few ideas to progress the channel and keep my love of being in front of the camera going.
Definitely interested in camping/cooking videos
Then I will do some!
Hi Chris - I really enjoy your reviews but your health comes first. Do what you feel you need to do. I’m sure everyone who follows you wishes you well. Incidentally I agree about beer types. I now hanker for lager, best bitters, brown ales etc. the Cheddar Ales you recommend look good. I often get deliveries from a local brewer called Hadrian Border Brewery. Best wishes. Henry
Thanks Henry for the kind words. I do appreciate everyone that watches and comments.
Have you reviewed jever pilsner ?
I have had it many times but not reviewed it on youtube. I may have reviewed it on tiktok.
I think motor caravan, camping material would be really good, something we are really interested in. Cheddar ales are great, I’ve tried a fair few from them courtesy of beers of Europe.
I am fairly sure I will be going down the route of doing camping/campervan related stuff.
Tbf i think we watch your channel for you mate. The content is secondary. Whatever you want to do we'll still watch !
Thank you Neil, thats very kind of you to say.
OK, time to up the game. Chris's Whisky Reviews.
Haha its an option, but that becomes a very expensive option! 😂
@@ChrissBeerReviews No worries, call the channel Hotel Minibar Reviews and just use miniatures.
Last round of COVID effected my taste again, this time hoppy beers taste far too bitter, cider and pilsners are fine
A decent pilsner is a fantastic drink!
I like watching your reviews mainly of Belgium and German beers..I drink far too much when am off work easily every day for about 8 days but when working knock it on head for about 4/5 days but never board of it and have no interest in spirits/ shots/whisky etc but that’s me.
I can fall out of beer in summer and appreciate a smokey barrel cider.
I'm mostly into pilsners, lagers, wheat beer, real ales, dark beers and ones that I get imported from Belgium, France or Germany. I'm not really into craft beer as such now, you just always get that big grapefruit/orange/lemon taste in most not all but it's always the same. Not a big hophead from the modern hops you get, where you get the huge citrus fruit vibes and not really thing for me.
Have you tried the Budvar black lager? Good stuff ❤
More than happy to watch you review German / Czech & UK traditional beers as that’s where I’m at to be honest. My interest in IPAs has dwindled and it’s down to cost and quality - don’t mind the odd Pale Ale though if at a brewery tap etc. My go-to is cask when I’m out, would rather drink a good, well kept cask ale over anything. I’ve still got an unused gift voucher for Trembling Madness from Christmas! Will Probably keep until the darker / Christmas beers come out! Would also watch any BBQ type vids too if you made them Chris 👍🏼
Hello Chris, I completely understand with taking a break from beer. I have also slow down on purchasing beer. In part some of the new beers just don't interest me. You don't see too many new lagers, pilsners, etc. I have gotten to the point I will probably just review beers that I really like and maybe my homebrews. Just an idea, may be you can do videos on other beer related news. Videos don't have to be long. Anyways, I hope you are doing well. Cheers.
As for your future vlogs film what you like and not what we like as it will work better
I got an order yesterday iv not had bottle shop swag for two months iv been on the supermarket swag thats nice and low abv well 5% the 330s and been happy i think the covid madness time has passed now and cans at £5 to£8 is not sustainable its a treat
Review whatever appeals to you Chris, i'll still watch.
Regarding craft beers, I Sort of went the same way - stopped buying them for ages. Got into imported lager, Pilsners etc. Just do the odd video now and then when it suits, folk will still watch 👍
If you’re not enjoying it then completely agree decreasing your drinking is the only thing to do. Local ale in the UK is outstanding and I’d love to see them getting promoted - they don’t fit the supermarket model but that is no way a bad thing! 🍻
I bought some years ago when it was 9.5 %. A four pack thinking it was tenants extra. After three cans the tv started doing manoeuvres in the living room. I was hammered. Mind you I finished the fourth can after the tv started behaving itself. 🤪🤪🤪🤪🤪🤪🤪🤪
Chouffe is an excellent brewery, so your impressions are not a surprise. Try Soleil, if you can find it - great summer, golden beer
They love Tennent's Super in Rome, all the pubs sell it in draught, cans and bottles 😁🇮🇹
Great video, looking at Untappd I’ve always rated Kasteel fractionally higher too but never considered why 🍻
Proper UK lagers beat the pants of the fake ones, my circuit of Brit lager brewers - St Austell, Allsopp’s, Blue Moose, Wrexham and Thornbridge. I rotate these buying on line direct from the brewery. Recently tried Brew Point ( previously Charles Wells) now added to my hit list 👍
I like to add a Oxo cube to my homemade burgers.
That’s a nice glass.
Missed a trick should of mixed them
Oh I didn’t miss that trick! I mixed them both when I went off camera and it was very pleasant! 😀😀
I thnk I will still keep clear of this one. I am not convinced. 🤣
You are probably best to still keep clear! 😃
Great review Chris ! I've always stayed away from these heavy hitters that as you know have always had a bad reputation (sometimes justified) with many descriptions such as wife beater, tramp juice and park benchers, I was surprised to find that it doesn't contain the dreaded GS but that still won't get me to give it a try, I like yourself enjoy the occasional strong Belgian or Impy but to me a lager is just lager, crisp clean and thirst quenching and the German pilsners between 5 and 6% suit me fine.
Absolutely agree with you Andrew, I will not be buying it again.
Well played Chris dropping the Park Bench tag on the Super strength Lagers. Tennents Super I was introduced to in my Teens and it was a 9.5% then when I reviewed it about 12 years ago it dropped to 9 then 8 now 7.5% I've got to admit the Brewers have managed to hold on yo it's unique clean sweet crisp taste. I did a face off against other high strength lagers and it came in first place. It's the number one selling imported lager in Italy 🇮🇹 and I'm told you can get it on draught in Rome.. Top review 👌
Good view mate, little change here n there is good. Good work chap & yh 1.49 you can't grumble Cant go without asking can we do it Sunday
I believe we can do it on Sunday, it will be a tough game, but certainly there to be won!
This is the weird thing..... Humans, stigma, association and common misconception.... Those words all go hand in hand with these beers, and when we see someone in the UK drinking one of these ''super strong'' lagers, we instantly think either Alcoholic, poor or both, seriously.... If you are out in the summer and you see two guys in the sun drinking a can of Fosters, nobody would bat an eyelid, you would think ''Yeah, summer day, heat, beer''. But if you walked down the road on the same summer day, and saw someone drinking this, 99.9% of the people would think ''Uh oh, hooligan alert''. What is more strange, is you go and buy some of Northern Monks drinks, they hit the 8% to 9% mark. You drink Brew Dogs Arcade Made or Mr President, and after you few, you think you are fine, then all of a sudden, you are chewing your own face. There are so many more stronger ales, pale ales and lagers than this, and people don't say a word..... As soon as they see this, people judge? Why?
A very good point Katie but the reality is when someone is in the grip of alcoholism they tend to go for the high ABV drinks because they have built up such a high tolerance, only the the high Abv beers give them the buzz they need and keep them stable (stops them from having seizures) I have had a lot of experience of this with my own brother who sadly died at 41 years of age, this is why you never see these drinks on tap in your local pub on account of the damage they can or will do.
Fantastic comment Katie, thank you for taking the time to type that. I absolutely agree a lot of craft beer is high abv, the difference being they have a price tag to match. The high abv lagers are cheap, and if you are an alcoholic that needs that high abv then this is what you are going to drink. Unfortunately a lot of these people are generally seen sitting around in town centres or in parks, they either do not work or are on very low incomes. They drink this stuff because they need the hit, they are not drinking it to enjoy the taste. Where as high abv craft beers taste good and they are drunk mainly to enjoy and talk about. Not to get wasted. I find it a little sad that big breweries clearly target people with addiction with these beers and low prices.
This awful beer was originally 9% abv. It was very sweet with the use of brewers syrup, very cheaply made for the park bench tribes.
Yeah i thought it must have been at that abv before. Cheers
I remember Super as being sickly sweet, so they must have reformulated it.
I think they have, it certainly is not sweet.
Hooligan soup has definitely come down percentage wise..defo used to be over 8.5%
Hooligan soup 😂😂😂
Most of these types have all dropped in abv, yet the polish ones are still high.
You’ll need a 4 pack for England v Spain.
Hahaha no thanks!
Hahaha no thanks!
I was told by a wine Marchand who olso produced high quality Prosecco wold wide to high end costumers he does not and will not export to uk. Why . Uk government would church him £1 … cork tax … per bottle to import to uk . That’s why bottles have screw tops ………1984 …….
Thats crazy!
None of the big beer high abv lagers are smooth And as Micky Flanagan said people would have a word if you took that to a party but no one says anything about lasses bringing 15% wine
The difference being eight of these will make you wish you where dead the next day and a 15% bottle of wine won't.
@@andrewcarr5923 would if you drank eight
I love Micky Flannigan!
Yeah i remember Tennents Super being 9 % With Carlsberg Special Brew being the same 9%
Yeah def 9
It used to be a hefty 9%, I used to prefer Speesh as Trampagnes go
