Ok I'm not completely sight reading it since I did look at it for 5 minutes before recording this, but I thought it'd be cool to read this theme I attempted 2 years ago when I first started playing. I might put in some work and try to actually play it well so look out for another national park video in the future!

Me and my sax quintet (Mashed Potatoes and Gravy Quintet) got 2nd place in the large woodwinds category at WMEA State Solo and Ensemble! Sadly it's my last year competing with these goobers, but Ik they'll continue to be even better without me and I can't wait to watch them next year. This is one of my favorite themes from any soundtrack, so I decided to spend my time learning it on sax instead of doing homework. I might try it on bass clarinet some day, but for now you have this. Also sry for the intonation, I still kinda suck at that :(

thinking of switching to bass clarinet in my schools jazz band as well, how is it? and what instruments sheet music do u read?
It's great bass clarinet is my favorite instrument to play, but I normally play tenor in jazz (I just double bass clarinet when it's available), but if u were playing it full time you'd prob read the tenor sax music

I rent it from a local music store, the ones at my school aren't really in the best condition
@@mr.mashedpotatoes2597 I get that. I played a "VITO" bari some in HS, and even though it had an "A" key, it was a piece of junk. 🙃
@@lizmcb4959 One of the Baris we have has a low C pad that is very floppy and it doesn't go back up unless you tilt your body to make it go back up so whenever I play that I look so dumb lol
@@mr.mashedpotatoes2597 Ah, geez, that's a pain. Anyone check the spring on that key's post? It might be something as simple as getting a pair of needle-nosed pliers and putting the spring back on the correct side of the post, back over the guard.
Wow, does THAT bring back memories... I played contrabass for two years in HS, in our wind ensemble. Listening to you I can shut my eyes and still feel the reverberations of the instrument through my upper torso. Almost a religious experience. Thank you so much for posting this!
