Eric Bana replicated Chopper's rhythmic speech perfectly and so his performance was authentic and therefore convincing. This actor couldn't get that rhythimic speech; and when the main character isn't convincing neither are the scene's which then effects the entire feature or series.

This guy is a great actor but I hated his portrayal of Chopper. He adds an "ah" before every second word. "Well, that's ah-what they ahhhahhh ah-said." Chopper only did that every now and then. Very rarely. It's unbelievably distracting.
