George's Channel is about retrocomputing especially about (but not only) retro 3d Graphics on computers of the 80's and 90's.
To keep this channel interesting, i do other retrocomputer related videos like Gamereviews, etc..
I have many ideas for future videos and i plan to grow the channel by investing in much better equipment.
I also try to put subtitles under my lastest videos: Englisch, German, Greek, French, Portugese, Spanisch, Japanese, Hindi and Thai. Let me know if you miss a language.

I adore this C64 port....... but Pole can seriously go eat a stick!
Cool have to check the source. It is looking good
Better than most Atari ST games.
I was usually left disappointed when my new plus 4 game loaded, biggest problem was 99% of the games were for the C16 so the 64k of the plus 4 was rarely used up, if only games like this were around at the time, I would of been blown away
there is hardly a game where I have felt so much joy and anger at the same time :-)
Pole's stunlock memories give me PTSD.
The Amstrad Version felt more arcade authentic, but didn’t have all the characters.
I have both c16 and c64 the graphics on the c64 and sound were way better but the gameplay is best on c16 because of less memory the game is lighter to play
Yes indeed, the C16 version is much easier ..:)
I used to have the c16 version back in the day - at the time, it was brilliant!!!
Yie are Kung Fu was my first game i ever played on a homecomputer back then. I loved it. I waited many years to play the Plus/4 and C16 version. I hoped it would come close to the C64. But it didn't in my opinion. Was very sad and frustrated..:)
Oh I thought you meant comments are turned off for this video. I feel less oppressed now and forgot what I was going to say.
No intention to opress anybody. Just write if you like watching the video, if you want :)
When the Plus/4 came out in the mid '80s, I never thought you could play games like this on it - this is absolutely impressive!
@@GeorgesChannel Ich mochte "High Noon" sehr. Kennst Du das!?
@@Vilo_le_Loup Kenn ich leider nicht. Ist das ein Plus/4 game?
@@GeorgesChannel Weiß ich nicht, was das bedeutet.
Auf welchem Computer hast Du "High Noon" gespielt?
I still have a ZX Spectrum 48k, and games on tape, also a Commodore C64
Hi George! There is a hidden feature which is different from the original version. You can switch to 3 players mode where all the figures can be controlled by human players to create a real party vibe. When you press the F2 button to switch between Computer and Opponent, you can reach the Opponents (plural) option to start the real fun.
Thanks for the comment and the hint, TCFS! I am awaiting your next masterpiece :)
Aaaah, those familiar sounds :-) Thank you! Score: 11000: nice number! I am just curious: do you think with modern tools the same game could be done to be faster? (the starfield simulation is really nice) I really like this game but the slowdowns are kind of annoying. Based on the speed is is made in Multicolor (gfx) mode. Maybe it will worth a try to switch the CPU to a higher frequency 2MHz mode, how it behaves, at least in the emulator :-)
Sure it can be optimized. Maybe the three Wizards will give it try and put more features in it. Thank you for the comment old friend. This video was an experiment but did unexpected well so far :)
My uncle just recently told me about games on cassettes. This is neat, thanks for uploading.
Greatings to your Uncle. Was not as cool as it looks, cassette tapes were unreliable and very slow. On the other hand the datasettes were much cheaper than diskdrives
Considering the hw limitations this is pretty awesome
Your comments aren't annoying so please do 👌
Thanks! This is just an experiment to try something new...
Ωραίος.. και το matching 1802 μόνιτορ, κουκλί.

It looks like an R-Type clone. Very good programming!
Yes indeed!
Just incredible ❤
Yes indeed!
Can't speak for the quality of the ROM programs included on the Plus/4, but it doesn't seem that bad of a computer. It's just confusing that a company would release incompatible machines within the same generation.
The Plus/4 was designed to be only a compact C116. The Plus/4 came after Jack Tramiel. See me previous video: czcams.com/video/mf4MDxX7hOg/video.html
Commodore released 4 incompatible 6502 CRT based computers. PET VIC C64 C16
Amazing 🔥💯
Yes indeed!
Ahh.. Is there the wrong video in the last ~3 minutes? Looks like "Space Pilot", not "Alpharay".
Just as comparison with one of the best shooters for the C+4
That game looks really amazing. It's a shame that the Plus/4 only sold ~1m units really and was, by Commodore's high standards, a commercial flop. Another great video though George.
Thank you for the good words, Shaun! I am happy you like it.
TED should have allowed for 48 char pitch. Sound is already digital, why not copy the adder circuit from CPU to mix 8 square waves with individual amplitude? Why is memory clock slowed down compared to C64? With one memory config register, fast page mode as on the zx spectrum would have given TED more colors / resolution. Or bitmap graphics with less cycle stealing. I don’t get why people bought Amstrad.. pcEngine? Fast page mode would split a line into 6 blocks of 0..8 bytes (depending on scrolling, which I also want ). 6502 can be clocked as low as 10 kHz, with 20 kHz specified. So at 3.6 MHz these bursts don’t need to halt the CPU. And they fit into the borders. Of course I want one more burst for a player sprite (splittable into two, but CPU would do some copy for vertical skew of pattern ).
@@ArneChristianRosenfeldt Okay.
Its a valid entry and kudos to those programmers for pulling it off.
All this without hardware sprites, hardware scrolling and SID chip? Incredible!
The Plus/4 has hardware scrolling.
Scrolling works better on plus4 because you can page the color RAM. You can also open top and bottom border and eat part of the second line to hardware scroll 0..15px so that you can switch pages on your terms for all directions scrolling. Also plus4 runs at 1.8 MHz in the borders so that you can copy last minute with less racing the beam.
the commodore 16/plus 4 was the best computer for the price
I remmember phoenix from when I was a small boy watching an arcade machine in the local chippy
What a lovely little machine, would love one of these.
C16 was my first computer, always disappointed as friends had C64's. I upgraded it to 64k so basically a +4 which improved things. However, there is no doubt if something like this had come out back in the day I would have been VERY happy!!! Amazing work when you think of the memory etc.
Small minds: "It can't be done. [ insert excuses here ]" Commodore scene: "Hold my beer..." This is the typical pattern, and I love it. C= 4ever.
IO still really love the Plus4 I had one when I was about 10 or 11 and learned to programme on them. At school we had the usual BBC Acorns and one school had Vic 20's and c64's. The C64 clearly had the massive user following and software catalogue, but it's been so interesting now all tghios stuff is on CZcams and the internet I've been able to check out some of the Plus 4 stuff the local k-mart didn't stock and back then without facebook we had gto rely on magazine publishers for our new stuff and what's available fix of information. And the Plus 4 did't get the same attention as the c64 and other platforms - so it was rreally hard to find or even know what softgware and new hardware was available at the time. but one thing I know for sure is I knew practically nothing about the range of software and hardware available for the Plus 4 and neither did many other people at the time. and yet more use of the world but... but there was quite a lot of stuff available back then none of us had any idea about for the most part. You'd go to the shop and off to one side past the C64, Atari and Amstrad CPC 464 software was a small selection of Plus 4 stuff and you were blessed to have what they got and that is all you get from there for now and forever... ... You sometimes might go trekking across one end of Perth to the furthest was a small privately owned computer store or two here and there where you could find something new and cool, usually many things you just couldnb't afford with your birthday money you pooled together specific for the trip. But it was nice to walk away with something new. I still had no idea that the amount of wares available was as broad as it was the Plus 4 just was never so pupular that it be given the same level of support by retailers as other Commodore Machines. And I really love the new stuff people are still coding it would have been fantastic to have all those things. Hey I'm in Austalia I want a PAL Plus 4 maybe with a proper commodore monitor or a 1571 II and any accessories but working - I have money - I just put this in here I would really like one I'm in Perth. I am sorry I know this might be criticised but if anybody has one I will give it a good home and use modern accessories for disk loading etc so even a disk emulator Pi attachment is fine the actual real disk drives are really sometghing that shouldn't go to me they should be preserved somewhat. The Plus 4 is rare and has certain components that die they are rare too. I don't mind if the machine has modern peripherals . But I really would love a plus 4 that works, I'll take monitor and disk as well if its available. I love the feel of using the original hardware with that machine.
I made a Amiga Like workbench for my Plus 4 back in the day, it was more a cursor controlled GUI like Amiga that had file browser type functions and could load apps trying to copy the Amiga. It was a bit sluggosh but ot badf and limited in functionality - but I was 12 I put all sorts of stuff in it including tyyhat write protect hack for the floppy disk that detects disk insertgion and would examine the disk and decide what to display. ofgent just a disk icon and you could open it for an iconified directory listing. I wish I still had it - it was a but windows 3.1-ish mainly a programme lauincher but it could at least recognise a disk insertion and react apprpriately. I also found out there is a copy of GEOS available for the Plus 4 but in german. Does anybody have it on disk or anything. Does anybody know whether anybody's gone in and used an editor to translate the important parts, menus and dialogues to Eng;lish on that thing. I swear that could be really cool and maybe it could be modified a ligttgle to reflect more modern expectations or features. Maybe with a RAM expansion board? Does anybody know anything about expandingf Plus 4 RAM. I like the hack to bring the C16 up to 64KB. But maybe one ofg tyhose expansions like for the c64 that can give you 356or 384kb RAM and use it with Plus 4 GEOS. Maybe an overclocked CPU like was avaiulable for the c64. I hear they have 6502 compatible Chips on them running at like 20MHz. Can any of that be plus4erized?
Wow I'm rambling some hsit
Whhhhhhaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat!? Incredible on a Plus/4!
I love the design of the C116 and Plus/4. Wish these were more available. I wonder if anyone sells reproduction cases?
it was the only unmade porting left.
It's a pretty impressive port for a plus 4 game. But the one thing I don't like about it is having to turn your monitor on its side.
I do it once for you, so you don't havr to do it..:) It's not recommended... :)
AAA title!
I would have killed for this back in the day. Sold my C64 to get a Plus/4 because Commodore marketed it like a superior machine. I was so disappointed.. But still had some fun with the system which I still have today
I REALY LOVE MY C64 ❤❤❤ FOREVER ❤❤❤❤
Conversione perfetta,molto dettagliata!
Next to the 2600 version of the empire strikes back, both look and sound fantastic. I don't think the C64 got a port of this one, just Star Wars: the arcade game. Even if PB had ported the game to the 64, it would have not looked any where near as good as Antonio's version. Still, the problem of the game is it's not very good. My cousin got this game right when it came out. I was over his house playing it and the new Frogger. It just wasn't very good. Frogger was a much better game.
Wow.. nice graphics for Commodore Plus/4? Almost as good as Macintosh version.
Interesting! It's really like the ZX with more colors
And a 6502-based CPU
Great
nice machine
The problem with the price in Germany was that it was not sold for 49$ as it was released. 49$ was at that time around 150 DM. But the c116 was sold for over 300 DM. So they doubled the price. That is also one reason why nearly nobody bought it. Similar to the c16. It was sold for much higher price then it was designed. That it also why the c16 was only successful after it was abandoned and sold for a lower price then original planed. (planned was c16 for 79$ = 210 DM. But it was sold for ~350 DM. So nobody bought it since the c64 was available for 600 DM. So better sound and 4 times memory space for less then double the price. The c16 was successful after it was sold with a tape drive for ~150 DM. (Only the tape drive was sold before for around 100 to 150 DM!).
Thank you for the important information! Totally overpriced until they started to sell them trough Aldi. Do you also know how much the ALDI price was and what years? Thats how i got a Plus/4 back then.
@@GeorgesChannel I bought my c16 at ALDI. If i remember correct for 149,- DM. I think it was in April 1986 (since my first "Comute mit" magazine has the date 4/86) and I am sure i bought the c16 before that paper.
Great colors
