I've never heard anything like this, but that's super disappointing. I feel like a lot of the newer hubs that have come out recently do a better job at being less convoluted and offer more options and advanced automations.

Cheers for the super thangs! As of a week ago, it's still works. However, with HomePods now being able to detect smoke detectors, I'm not sure how useful it is. I've got one in my garage and another in my daughters bedroom to supplement her HomePod and regular Dumb smoke detector. Overkill?

@@myHomeKithomeI dunno. You can use an automation to turn off fans and HVAC and turn on all the lights with dedicated smoke sensors.

@@aaronbcollins2 good point. I think I mentioned that in the video. The bummer is that, at least in the US, these types of devices can't replace standard smoke detectors for insurance purposes.

My suspicion is no, at least for its core functionality since it connects over Zigby.

The motion sensor connects to HomeKit via the Hugh Bridge. There should be a HomeKit code on your bridge. If you don't have the original packaging or you have lost the sticker on the bottom of the bridge itself, you can try reaching out to Phillips Hugh, But I wouldn't get your hopes up about them having a running list, but it doesn't hurt to try. Mine finally died about six months ago. It's receiving power but unresponsive in Apple home and I'm not able to perform a factory reset. It had a good run. Given how spotty it's connection was and how it's life ended, I can't say I'd really recommend it. Hope this helps!

That's awful! I had to essentially abandon my AirPort setup late last year and I do miss how simple it is. Though I have to admit, I got eero 6 Pro router and it has been just as user-friendly with no issues to report as of yet... it's only been 4 months though.

@@myHomeKithome that’s good. I just plugged the Apple time capsule back in and seeing how it goes using it as a bridge. I noticed on the new router it didn’t disconnect on a night after 2am a disconnect around 6am, then no more until around 5pm and then more frequent from 7pm. I’m guessing it’s all the WiFi activity and the tp link router with all that new tech isn’t coping with it. Only reason I got the new router was for quest pcvr for WiFi 6 anyway. Cos no one has that round here, and the quest just wasn’t usable most days.

Nailing down Wi-Fi connectivity issues can be tricky. Hopefully one of these days manufacturers will figure out these issues.

@@myHomeKithome well I tried wpa3 first because it was on new router, then wpa2. Now I have my cameras on the Apple router and the HomePods and everything else on the other. Everything works great. I just think no one does it better than Apple. It’s why I kept the router for so long. It’s over a decade old, and still does the basic thing it’s suppose to better than anything else I have tried. Now all cameras are great. I swear when this Apple router breaks, I gonna pay to have it fixed. It’s definitely a keeper.

It's actually pretty easy to setup up Hue in Apple Home, but it is a little more involved in order to bring this specific feature into HomeKit.

I don't know that you can completely remove them, but if you tap on the icon itself, you should be able to change it. Hope this helps

I hate to state the obvious here, but you did try to read it to Apple Home, correct? Factory resetting a device is not a mode, but it does reset the configuration of the device. If you are still having issues after resetting it, you should definitely reach out to their support team.

Placement is crucial! They are both great devices. I've had my SMS1 for at least five years and it's still going strong.

Thanks for the comment, although I have to say I disagree. While apples home app is far from perfect, in my opinion it's leaps and bounds more concise, practical, efficient, and user-friendly then at least Amazon and Google offerings. The problem with forcing manufacturers to comply is that they don't have to and if they deem it to costly, they don't support the platform at all. We saw this issue in the early days of HomeKit which is why adoption has been slow going.

If you're experiencing connectivity issues with the hub, regardless of how many child devices you have connected through it, a factory reset maybe the only option. Sure it's a Last Resort and pretty annoying, but it may be the only option. Also, it turns out that even after factory resetting a hub, it's still remembers which child devices were previously connected to it so there's that.

It shouldn't matter whether your hub is impairing mode. The blue light will indicate if the sensor itself is impairing mode. In any event I would definitely replace the batteries as a troubleshooting starting point.

If you've tried brand new batteries and still aren't able to get it to connect, it might be time to consider a replacement unfortunately. I would reach out to Aqara support first just to make sure.

I've heard both and I've used both. There is an image floating on the web somewhere from Aqara that uses the IPA to help people properly pronounce it, but either the transcription is inaccurate or people just ignore it. Ultimately, I don't think it really matters much.

Unfortunately that's not natively supported in HomeKit. There are a few different cameras that have that functionality built-in but it's not directly connected to HomeKit and therefore won't make announcements on the HomePod. However, it is possible to set up some reasonably complicated shortcuts in order to make this happen.

Thanks! As of now, only the SwitchBot motion sensor can be exposed to HomeKit over matter. The SwitchBot remote is still being worked on I think. You can also bridge the SwitchBot button, contact sensor, they're smart lock, and their blind tilt and curtain motors

That is really strange! Are you using Matter? I feel like this or something similar happened to me a few years ago, but I don't remember how I got around it. The only thing I can think of to fix would be to remove the hub from HK. Not ideal, but it might work. Also, maybe restart all of the relevant devices i.e. iPhone, Home hubs, M2, etc. That's a doozie though!

@@myHomeKithome I have yet to jump into matter. And everything I’m buying is HomeKit stuff I used to have. So far in the new house I’ve done all the Lutron casetas and adding my door sensors and AQARA lock u100. I also have the doorbell but havnt installed that yet. Only thing different in this house from my last house is the AQARA hub. I’m afraid of jumping into matter.

@@FernandezGrill If you're all-in on HK, there aren't a ton of reasons to get into Matter. I like it for SwitchBot's stuff, though. Soon enough this will change, but for the time being, meh...

@@myHomeKithome 5 hours later figured it out. Under profile in the AQARA hub I had to go to name synchronization and make HK names into Aqara names. What a day. I do remember doing this now on the M1 hub after I found the menu. 🥵

I have zero experience with GH, so idk. Were they ever working?

Hey! I honestly have no idea. I got it from Home Depot and it's not a super well-known brand. However, as long as your mini split has an IR remote, it should work. Hope this helps!

I'm not sure about this specific error, but a factory reset seems like your best bet after restarting your smart home hub and any other connected devices including your phone.

Not at the moment unfortunately. If you can find it, the Arlo baby does and it works with HomeKit, but doesn't have all of the other crazy features of the G3. It's a really solid camera though with a nightlight five different environment sensors lullabies, and the ability to record your own audio. You can find a review of it on the channel also!

Not that I am aware of unfortunately. Since it uses a magnet to determine it's open or closed state, it's kind of all or nothing. I haven't heard of a contact sensor having the ability to adjust its sensitivity, but that would be an interesting issue to tackle. Thanks for watching!
