Went to race the Tour of America's Dairyland (TOAD) again in 2024.
Prior to this race, I'd now crashed twice and probably shouldn't have done this race, even though physiologically I was prepared. The course and weather were great though, and it was fun to start the race with a friend too.
Adding a rear cam! Was a fun challenge to integrate.
Toward the end of the video I talk about the psychological concept of affordances; the idea that we are literally wired to 'see' the world through the lens of our capabilities. I can't tell you how many times in this race I cancelled a plan or lost motivation because I remembered I couldn't sprint or make any real out of the saddle effort. Injury alters how you see the world around you!
Lesson learned: don't ride injured. Take the ego beatdown and come back another time. Maybe next year!
