I love your description and your presentation.. thank you, from NZ
Very interesting. Thank you for your explanations. It really deepens my love for wild flowers.
Great film, thanks. I suspect that air pollution (acid rain & heavy metals) is playing a large part in these tree diseases, as this may be killing off the essential soil mycorrhizal fungi that trees rely on for their nutrition and health. Not enough attention is being paid to this and if we don't start addressing this soon, we may get to a point of no return and lose a lot more trees. And that would then be permanent ....
I have just had my first sighting of a Deptford Pink. I have been searching for twenty years for this flower which I know to be both rare but also localy prevelent. What a joy to finaly sight it. I will try to colect some seed to propegate.
So informative and pleasant to watch. Thanks!
For some reasony brain is struggling to process the infirnation, despite my enthusiasm and your , succinct and procise delivery. I'm working my way through all your videos and am enjoying them immensely. I would like to study bottany but feel I've left it a bit late at 65.
I am interested in the difference between leafy bracts and sepals, as you describe here. How are their purposes distinguished please?
In terms of being a pioneer of Irish environmental education - John Feehan is peerless.
lovely tradition - nice to see traditional country kitchens with dressers filled with cups/jugs/plates and Irish heritage. God in a Bottle - beautiful story stored in the bottle!
that was great fun. And such great characters
Very interesting video and brilliant photography 🌿🦋💚
Wonderful, love these videos. Thank you
Well done to all involved..lovely tradition to keep alive..👍
💚
Once again - enjoyable and informative without the usual youtuber fluff. Where can we find the Rosebay Willowherb video? I once cut some for a window display and when I returned home in the evening the ovaries had all exploded open and a multitude of seeds formed a stunningly beautiful mass, like a candy-floss, several feet across.
These are amazing videos excellent information , the natural world has it all and it's sad most people are continuously mowing these important flowers and grasses. Every graveyard and elsewhere should be meadow managed, it's beautiful I would be happy to be buried here knowing that above my remains the natural beauty of wildflowers and pollinators live on.
Fantastic video thank you John and team at offaly heritage
Lovely video. Thank you
I want to thank you for all your videos. I stumbled upon them by accident, and as a woman of 65 I have become increasingly interested in educating myself in botany and entomology, also in drawing and painting native plants insects and birds. I am now spending each evening engrossed in your videos and having had a life time's interest but no good education this is of great fascination to me.
Thank you for the education, John. It’s a blessing to have these videos forever on CZcams. Thanks also to you, Tina. Your work is amazing.
These videos are amazing by John Feehan, a wealth of information and excellent camera skills. I have learned so much. Thank you.
Thank you, Sir. You are a man of great knowledge.
Really love & appreciate you sharing the old herbal recipes. I have never heard of this herb before. Maybe I can recreate these in the future.
Helpful thanks!
Very pleasant and informative - as well as what you mentioned I have Swallowtail butterflies and humming birds frequenting mine and have found tree frogs cooling off from the heat in the pools of water at the leaf bases.
Brilliant informative video as always. I so enjoy these videos. Thank you
very informative and engaging thankyou so much
I am begging you to hide the autocorrect underscoring in the video title. It would make it look much more professional
Yes indeed, right click on the text and click "ignore"
I really appreciate these videos, which are very polished in most respects - but yeah, this bugs me a lot as well!
Fantastic thanks again.
Lovely. Do you know if the orchid is a viable source of essential oil of eugenol & if there are toxic constituents if you were to use in orally for toothache? Clove doesn't grow easily here, but the fragrant orchid might 😊
Great video, thank you!
This series is wonderful, thanks to everyone involved.
I love it. I’m from Offaly, so delighted to find this chanel . Please keep up the so beneficial work🙏 Thank you 😊
Thank you for such wonderfully structured and informative content ,delivered with superb pace, my only regret if not discovering your channel sooner.
I think it's a bit silly to group a plant into a particular family solely upon the blooms very vaguely resembling a rose, heck nothing of the rest of the plant, foliage, stems or roots at all grow like that of a rose! Oh, it's nothing the matter of you mentioning so, it's just these botanists that hinge all on one small little trait!
I gotta try cream cheese and potatoes 😂😂😂
Love orchids! This is a particularly lovely one. It reminds me of hyacinth. Here we have a wild orchid named snake or osha orchid that comes up wild in our grasses.
The best channel for native Irish plants on the Internet. Thank you. ❤🇮🇪❤️
Thank you. I have learned a lot from your videos
Ah thanks, so it's named after a pigeon, I've been wondering why it's called Columbine when it isn't a twining bine!
Wonderful as always, thank you. As this is a non-native bindweed and rarely produces seed in the British Isles, another mystery is HOW is it managing to spread everywhere ?! By the way, I'm wondering if the name you've used is right. My Collins Pocket Guide says that Hedge Bindweed is the native species, with flowers that are only about half this size, 3-3.5cm across (and what's the pollinator for this?). This must be non-native Giant Bindweed, 6-7.5cm across. I'm sure I've seen lots of bumblebees crawling in.
Yes... I think this is Large Bindweed. The bracts here are overlapping and what I have read suggests that Hedge Bindweed brackets are separate. I have both in my garden.
Oh my goodness, your films are just wonderful. I'm listening carefully, as I'm doing a nature walk tomorrow at a local nature reserve here in Bristol, and I want to point out the vines & bines - Honeysuckle, Travellers Joy, Columbine and White Bryony. You always have some special information, such as the colour change in the flowers - changing from white flowers which push the anthers to the fore, to yellow flowers next day pushing the stigmas to the fore! Thank you.
Behind my home
I love the aroma from this beautiful flower, i remember this scent from childhood while playing in meadows and only recently found out it was from Lady's bedstraw. I've learn so much more from your video, thank you so much.
Excellent thanks
As always, incredible 👏🏼
Thank you for another fantastic video. ❤🇮🇪
Thanks for the good info on this. I didn't realize it was a dye herb and flea repellant too. Would love to trade for seeds with someone, but I'm in the USA.
Appreciate your wisdom and time. Thank you ❤
