Oh man I don't even wanna consider Largo yet, that's definitely gonna be the worst. That last wave of adds was almost impossible to survive even in the normal arena fight, imagine EX level for that 🥲

I say it's because the videos would be too long otherwise, but honestly I also just do it because the chipmunk voices and sound effects make me laugh every time lmao

While I do agree the fights are way too long with these insane hp pools, I do like that they force you to deal with all the mechanics this way. It's basically anti-steamroll stuff haha, and I kinda like that. Like on the arena rematches, Tiki EX2 forced me to face all her mechanics just like back in the day when the cup first released, just on a different (harder) level. It's excruciatingly slow but then, my initial arena clears always took me a long time to figure out as well, so it suits the fights, I think. 9S on the other hand didn't feel challenging at all to me, I beat him rank 1 all the way to EX3 in 20 minutes tops, no issues all the way through. A middle ground between them would be amazing I think.

I also considered an axe team because Hayes' prio break IS pretty fun to use haha, but I just got my A2 so I'm currently very excited to use her everywhere I can :D I should really learn to use Solon already, he's been benched since I got him (U10 even) because I'm just not sure how to properly use him, I guess? And I think his ult clashes with Canary's, and I love using Canary, so that doesn't help either. Same with Alaune EX actually, I know she is amazing, but I just haven't really figured out how to use her or Solon properly or slot them into a team, so I leave them benched. I should get on that, would be a waste not to use them 🧐

@@jonathancook1731 yeah that's fair haha. Still, I had Solon for a full month before Canary released and I didn't use him then either. I'm not really sure why, but I think I'll make myself use him on whatever fight I take on next just to see how it goes.

Agreed, it hit those good old early cotc vibes for me! I remember how I struggled with the initial arena fights on release, so seeing the mechanics back here definitely made me a bit nostalgic or something haha. It's a slow going due to the huge hp pools, but that's the only gripe I have with it. Grats on beating the EX3! How bad was it, turn count-wise? I assumed this one would take me over 60 turns so I didn't even try, but if they're not that far off from EX2 then maybe...

Well like always it depends on the team but my EX1 attempt was 43 turns, EX2 was 41 turns (must have really gamed here or fumbled EX1) and EX3 was 52 turns. I never quite managed to perfect break as I always forgot to check turn order during Divine Beast break (Sofia EX was my WindRes down breaker and she was always in the front taking the lowered speed AoE) Funnily enough my max damage in 1 turn went up with every EX though (968k on my EX3 fight), although I assume that just comes from a really good AoE break turn early in the fight.

@@mellontanamar7950 that seems on track for me as well, I had 41 turns on EX1, EX2 47, so EX3 should be a bit longer. That's not too terrible, maybe I'll give it a try anyway. I'll beat them all up to EX2 first though, I want my accessories :D

Do you have the rubies to try a few pulls for her? I know there's big units coming up, but she's such a good unit that fits in so many teams, I'd probably chase her now if I didn't have her tbh.

Yeah she's a gamechanger tbh! I already have her at A1 so this banner is a skip for me, but it's great that they're rerunning her for people who missed her the first time. Hope she'll arrive in SEA soon as well :-)

Glad to help! :-) I also had the game on the backburner for a good while, I only really did pulls and dailies for a few months. There was a lot to catch up with so I figured I'd finally get started haha.

@@BruniPlaysOctopath I stopped playing around the champion banners, the first time (late last year). do you have any recommendations on what to do to gear up appropriately for these battles? gameboard? towers? characters?

@@gb213so that would be the Tatloch banner I think? In that case I'd try to catch up with the story chapters (the ones before chapter 8 aren't too bad), and build some good weapons for your main dps. If you stopped playing around the Tatloch banner that means you missed Bargello, Nephti, Canary and Elrica, which are all really good characters who would add a lot to your roster (in general, not just for this fight). I'd probably take time to catch up for a while and save up some rubies until the next big banner. Anniversary will be in july, and we're getting another collab in june, both will come with banners you'll probably want to pull on. At anniversary you will likely also be able to pity some of the memory travelers you missed, as we're expecting an MT banner there. It's probably doable with older units, but the likes of Nephti and Canary and Bargello make life a lot easier, so I'd suggest getting 1 or 2 of them to tackle this fight with

@BruniPlaysOctopath fortunately I have kept up with what's released each update and pulled when I could. I used my memory frags for elrica, I got lucky with barbells and rinnyu but canary and Nephti I missed

@@gb213 oh that's great though!! Rinyuu, Elrica and Bargello do a LOT in these fights so that's amazing even without Canary and Nephti. If you have another dodge tank (Fiore EX or Haanit EX?) that would work, or just anyone + Hammy really. Tatloch is great for her passives too if you have her. But really with Rinyuu & Elrica you're already halfway there for this fight I'd say, just have to figure out a way to take care of your defenses and sp regen.

Yeah I got real lucky on Canary and Tatloch on some yolo pulls, but Nephti took me going to pity, so yknow. And I'm still mad about my Elrica pulls which got me back to 0 rubies. My occasional luck on yolo pulls gets balanced out by pull sessions so bad you'd want to uninstall, unfortunately lmao. Hope you get a random Canary on the Ditraina banner if you're gonna pull there!! I also lost the next fight a few times, what a pain tbh. I just beat it on my third try, it's even worse because of how crazy long it takes (took me 50 turns or so) and there's a bunch of moves that make it go from a winning attempt to "haha game over" in a single turn :')

@@BruniPlaysOctopath For Elrica I was stupid and I exchanged not knowing that I continued pulling and I had enough for pity. But this is the second time I had to (I had to pity Bargello) in short time. Just the moment I watched you worst Elrica pull session I decided not put money again. Just yesterday I was so close to buy the 5$ pack, but I said "hey, self control". And in the last 3 phases was easy. The second one because the last axe weakness was a complete mess for me.

@@felo507yt haha same, I also had to pity Bargello and got only one 5* on the way there, and that wasn't even my worst session (that was Elrica indeed). It's so demotivating spending all this time saving rubies or even paying real money and then getting nothing at all. I haven't spent anything on the game since the sisters released either, I may get the passes again some day, but for now I'm done throwing money at the game and not getting anything to show for it.

Canary, and Nephti as well, have been the true surprise units for me tbh! I didn't plan on getting either, but lucked out on Canary in two pulls, and Nephti's banner shafted me and it became personal so I continued to pity, lmao. I was annoyed at the time but in hindsight I'm glad I got her, and even got a dupe during my sisters pull session. They've both been invaluable in a lot of fights, especially Canary! Good luck on the fight! There's another fight after this one and it's pretty hard, I'll try to get a video of that one done soon :-)

Yeah like I pointed out in the video as well, those two are truly busted. Especially Canary feels kiiiinda unbalanced with how she just trivialises a lot of fights by autododging almost everything. Pair her with Hammy and she's impossible to even hit tbh. Broken stuff.

Glad that wasn't just me then lmao, hate when you get that far and then they change things up outta nowhere and cancel your win. Same here, I was at what I think was the last phase of the third boss, and then my recording just stopped and I checked and it only recorded like 2 minutes pfffft. I was on turn 42 or so 😅 so I force closed the game mid-fight. Bit annoyed at having to do it over (I want the full recording) but oh well I guess!

I like keeping Yan Long A4 on her as she's usually my fastest character, but putting the autotaunt accs on her is also a pretty great idea, hmm. I might try that for BoA actually. I just spent like an hour and a half making two arcane weapons...... my god I forgot how much I hate the rerolling system, what a pain. Cyrus and Elrica are properly geared up now, the rest will have to deal with fortune weapons lmao. Gonna go in in a bit, very curious how it'll go!

Thanks! I wish I had some average luck tbh, this all or nothing stuff is giving me emotional whiplash :') but it's pretty much been like this since the start of my account unfortunately. It does balance out, I've been tracking my pulls for like a year and a half and though I have a lot of banners with ridiculous 1% or less rates, there's also a lot where I get stupid lucky on the first two pulls. My 5* pull rate over all pull types, calculated from around 4300 pulls and excluding guaranteed slots and vet seals, is 3,93% at the moment. Pretty close to the 4% the game claims the rate is, so, yeah, it does in fact balance out haha.

It's probably locked behind story progression, I'm not entirely sure as I was caught up when they released it... but I'd guess it's locked behind some nameless town progression. Once you get the emberflame story chapters, that's the ones. I think it's probably locked behind the first chapter? It'll add a "codex" to your menu icons and the adversary log is part of it.

Haha it's not much of a story, and I won't go into it too deeply, but in short, am woman, don't like when female characters get unnecessarily sexualised (in story or in artwork). A major reason I like (the original) octopath as much as I do is because it does its female characters well, and cotc continued that trend, until this collab dropped and with it that artwork that came completely out of left field. It's the same reason I skipped the summer EX banner because of Fiore, as much as I love Sofia EX and her design and artwork, I'm not even going to accidentally pull Fiore. And the recent second wave of Nier in JP was even worse. Makes me really sad to see a game that is better than that, stooping to that kinda cheap stuff. Each their own obviously (before anyone comes at me), but this is a hill I'll die on, I will never pull for characters like that. Grats on the nice dupes!! My Alf still needs one more copy, and my poor Haanit EX is still only A0U9 :( I'd love a dupe, she's one of my favorite units to use!!

I love how versatile she is too with the different weapon types! Lazy teambuilding is great, it's why I like using Cyrus a lot as well, just swap their movesets and they can be taken to a lot of different fights depending on the weaknesses without much hassle with equipment and such. Great stuff tbh!

I just test ran her on the 9S EX3 fight and her damage output is pretty crazy even on A0 lv90 with unoptimal buffs and someone else's dagger, holy cow. Been a long time since I was this excited about a new character haha, can't wait to use her more!!

Thanks! I considered using Haanit EX as well, but the Canary/Hammy duo is just so busted I'm leaving them in there for the foreseeable future. Ngl, unpopular opinion because Roland IS really strong, but I prefer using Frederica so much more. The no bp regen on her ult is a bit tricky to plan for but she's nowhere near as "hard" to use as Roland...

I always thought/assumed Rinyuu's falls into the passive category because it gets a different icon from regular active buffs... not 100% on that though, but that's how I've been using her since I got her haha. EDIT: welp I looked it up, looks like you're right. So there's still a lot of extra def I could stack on top of both of them. Neat tbh, TIL!

Tatloch truly makes these so much easier to manage! That permanent 30% defense buff as long as you have her and Rinyuu on passive buffing duty is very very clutch. Those two + keeping the enemy's attack down makes these very survivable (if slow). It's also pretty satisfying to see how much dmg you can deal while still keeping an eye on your defense buffs. Best I got so far was 10x 55-60k with my A0 Elrica against Sonia EX3, pretty cool to see without even attempting to minmax (I lost the fight but still, lmao).

True, but if I'd managed my sp better I surely could have done it in fewer turns than this, I'm just a bit embarrassed by how bad my preparation was haha. I don't expect to five-turn these, just do them with a normal flow that doesn't force me to back row people every two turns to regain sp.

Any consistent dodge tank would work I'm sure! I considered Canary as well but I like Haanit's all stat down move more than I like Canary's shield shaving lmao. Hammy's dodge to front row is pretty crazy for fights like this
