The National Jam Skating League includes skaters from around the world who participate in the exciting and intense sport of Competitive Jam Skating. Jam Skaters battle in different formats including 1 VS. 1, 5 VS. 5 or :90 Second Solo, Double or Team Performances where five judges using an electronic scoring system and specialized criteria determine a winner. Competitive Jam Skating is where individuals compete while on rollerskates within a 30 foot diameter 'Jam Circle' by combining elements of gymnastics, breakdancing, and freestyle skating strategically performed to the lyrics, beat and rhythmic movement of the music. Judging categories include Footwork, Groundwork, Power, Musicality and Battletude.

The Draft | Friendly Fire | SJ2024

The Draft is a showcase where skaters show off their skills to the captains of the Friendly Fire battle teams. Over 40 skaters participated, and there was 9 open slots on each team for a total of 36 slots. Team captains kept notes on who they wanted to draft to their team. Friendly Fire Battles are an unsanctioned event.

I think you have gotten stuck in your single vision of what skating is. It’s okay to be an old school skater, but you should consider the possibility of an increase in diversity of skate forms. Skating has such a wide range of styles now and instead of trying to put down a form of skating, maybe learn a little bit more about it. While I too enjoy repeating a single routine for many laps in a row, “Oschool” skaters are not the only skaters and it is much more fun learning more about the growing art and sport of roller skating.
This never claimed to be anything other than jam skating, and like it or not…THIS IS JAM SKATING!!!
