International Harvester 684 and disk drag
zhlédnutí 949Před 5 lety
Using our little chain link disk drag to go over some pasture ground that we had disked up. This little drag is nothing special and doesn’t do a whole lot, but it’s better than nothing and we don’t have a set of cultipackers, so this is what we use.
Disking! John Deere 4000 and BWA disk

Disking up some of our pasture ground with paw paw’s old 4000 and his BWA disk. This tractor and disk make a great combo!

    Well lads I'm just after getting a international 684 1980 there and she keeps spitting the engin oil out the over flow pipe. I think the man before me lost the original dipstick and put in a shorter one. Anyone no the length off the original dipstick or how much oil I should be putting into it ? Thanks lads

    The spinners (turtles) can be swapped around such that they turn in the opposite direction, including the two end spinners (towers), you just have to swap the top hats. Since there are 7, one will have no one to swap with. You can build it up or at the most only need to buy one new spinner and basically be running all new leading edges. The washers under the bolts that hold the spinners on are conical so attention is needed when reassembling and possibly will need replacing if they have lost their spring.

    That chain is suppose to connect to the pin that holds the top link to the tractor. It is there to carry the weight of the mower instead of letting it be supported on the three point hitch.

    • @atomicdog6556
      @atomicdog6556 Před 4 lety

      I believe it is only used on tractors that due not have depth control of the 3 point hitch arms. It is attached to the tractor where the top link attaches and adjusted to stop the lowering of the arms when the inner shoe just touches the ground or on this cutter a clearance of 0.1 inch on the stop plate once it is engaged

    Good deal on the rake!! Thanks for the video!

  • @GosselinFarmsEdGosselin

    If you are good with a welder, you can use worn knives to build up the wear surfaces.. just make sure everything is done evenly for balance.. check Shoupe for knives and knife bolt and nuts.. we've had good luck with their stuff. Good to see you making some videos again. Good videos! Keep them coming!!

  • @GosselinFarmsEdGosselin

    We had a 430.. had to have been a '70 something.. maybe an '80??? Had a couple guys doing custom baling make haylage for us for a few years. They bought it new, then we bought it from them with a couple years of payments left.. must have been '82 when they bought it.. it never ran in the ash from Mt. St. Helens. Nice machine! Wash, don't wash.. we didn't use to wash balers or combines, we have for the last 30+ years though.. makes it much nicer to find issues and doesn't mess anything up, just grease and run it when you are done.. Thanks for the video!!!

    • @nickardoin8430
      @nickardoin8430 Před 4 lety

      Gosselin Farms Ed Gosselin I’ve always heard not to wash balers but I am kinda starting to think that it’s an old wives tale. People say the same thing about lawnmower and they say not to wash them for the same reasons you shouldn’t wash a baler, but we wash ours off pretty much every time we cut the yard and it’s 15 years old with no issues related to water damage over the years. For now we don’t wash the baler but that may change one day. Thanks for tuning in.

    • @GosselinFarmsEdGosselin
      @GosselinFarmsEdGosselin Před 4 lety

      @@nickardoin8430 ya.. don't wash the baler or combine, because water will get in the bearings... Don't oil the chains on them either, it attracts dust and ruins the chains.. Proved both wrong many years ago.. BTW, the chains last longer when oiled😎

    • @nickardoin8430
      @nickardoin8430 Před 4 lety

      Gosselin Farms Ed Gosselin they get oiled every time I use it. I may not keep everything as clean as some people do but you just about can’t walk by anything over here without getting oily or greasy. Everything is well lubed. Can’t afford to replace most of it so gotta take care of it.
