Astrophotography: Affinity Photo for Seestar FITS Editing
zhlédnutí 160Před 3 měsíci
This video shows what you can do with your Seestar FITS files using Affinity Photo. The files, stacked FITS, were from 10-20 sec shots made with the automatic telescope called Seestar. The files were kindly sent to me by Chris Gray, who has also made CZcams tutorials on editing Seestar files with Siril. My editing here is a bit on the gaudy side but with Affinity you can color them as you like....

It is through the use of his free macros that all the editing is possible.

This is a long video because I want to show the details of using Affinity Photo to process astro files. The HSO files used here are from Telescope Live, a very recommendable source of inexpensive and good files. You are right. Luckily I still had the text. Done. Thanks
retarded. it should say -1 -2 -3 -4 down to -15, -15 being the smallest. then it should say 1 2 3 4 , up to 9, 9 being the largest. -5 looks better than 1/5 1/4 1/3 1/7
How do you get Light files from the Seestar? When I check mine I only get 1 .FITS file and a couple JPGs
As I remember, if you click on me at bottom right you come to "advanced" that is where you go to adjust level. Here is something about "enhanced processing" that needs to be clicked. Otherwise the sub light files are not saved. Then they are seen when the cable is connected to computer. I have another CZcams about Seestar. Have a look under "youtube irandar"
Want to give you a better answer. See this czcams.com/video/sUWox0UVy7s/video.html At time 2.20 is the Seestar window you need about saving files.
Very nicely presented. Thanks for taking the time to make this.
Sorry bud but you made an absolute pig’s ear of that.
Details please.
@@irandar The entire Milky Way is over processed and oversaturated. I wouldn’t even recognise it as the Milky Way if there wasn’t stars in the photo and, even then, it’s difficult. The contrast is over the top too and, overall, it just looks like a smudge of colour as if a painter has knocked over a couple of tins of red and green paint.
Lets NOT listen to the Brubeck Quartet a bit longer - thank you very much.
Very funny. Do you know how to turn it off? Is the app useful to you? Regards
First glance recommendations 1. drop the music it is distracting, 2. Use the built in screen recording functionality that your Mac already has. 3. Edit the recorded movie in iMovie or one of the many free apps to zoom in on parts of the screen.
Some good ideas here. Turn the music off if it bothers. Are you trying to learn about Affinity Photo for astrophotography?
@@irandar Just adding a few more comments to your Astro group request Irving.
@@PaulM_aka_4c21 Hi Paul. Glad for any input. If you have time and interest maybe you could help me with the proposed FB group. Calling it Affinity for Astro?? Enjoyed your Kos film. The anchor winch scene is great and of course the water.
@@irandarBest to put all the search keywords so in my opinion, “Affinity Photo Astrophotography”would more likely be found. Yes glad to help set it up.
@@PaulM_aka_4c21 Thanks, I think I want to put some more tutorial stuff on here and see if it finds followers.
Nice
I realize that the SAmini does not have a guiding feature. However the SA2i does and the same modification shown here would apply.
the sail shapes are horrible; inefficient and ugly. You need to remake the sails, maybe with better material.
Let me know if you have specific questions.
Great, many thanks. It's hard to find proper instructions for the Synscan app. 👍🏼😎
Thanks for sharing.
Thank you so much 😊
Glad you enjoyed it. You can see quite a few more such tutorials on my Irandar Channel.
It was useful, thank you
How do you align the view on the phone to the eyepiece or camera? Looks a little bit crude to me.
I think those holders shown will work ok. Remember you are lining up the iphone camera view to where the scope is pointing. If you try it I would be glad to know of your experience. Free no on app store.
So are you able to take half decent pictures with this arrangement and if so are you able to show some examples?

Cool Info, thx. Music is ..... sorry. ;-)
i can't find this anymore in the apple app store. has it been taken down?
Maybe not sure. Let you know in 8h
Greetings, It's still there. Gotta spell it carefully. Also the simpler one called PushToCam is not bad and does not require lining up the phone camera. And the middle one FinderCam. See this deepskycolor.blogspot.com/ for details on all. Would be glad to know your experiences. Thanks and regards
PlateSolveCam is there but not the other two.
Any plan for an Android port?
Would change the title for better search
What would you suggest?
How is this?

Hope you will get famous soon.. You definitely need to research *SMZEUS*!!
When you are adding files, do you include JPEG 's and TIFF files? Excuse the newbie question, I am on day one here.
I guess you can use any files. But everybody makes and stacks raw files because they have the most information. Files that are available for practicing are usually FITS files. These are already corrected for the telescopes and sensors used, so no dark, white and bias files. Have fun
Hillbilly music GOOD! Must go watch Deliverance now!
Glad you like it Terry
Not bad if you want to have all those colors. I do like the stacking technique though. it is a different method. Thank you for the tutorial.
Of course with Affinity Photo you can convert to black and white with an adjustment layer.
Something I overlooked when making this video: To zoom in more closely to see a galaxy below the text box there are + - buttons. For example, this allows seeing details of Andromeda, which is not possible with only mouse zooming. Also I thought I could set on this web version the field of view FOV. This seems not possible as it is on the mobile version, which has a number of other features, like the control of telescope mounts. Have fun.
Once again, I'm glad CZcams shared this video with me, very good info, few views, new video, but I kinda have been using Stellarium for over 10 years lol Thanks for the effort, this will surely help many new users!
Thanks for your comment. I am a beginner but making videos helps me learn and helps other beginners. I was wondering why zooming does not always show much of the object. Such as Andromeda M31, the shape is hardly seen. Of course one can go to the Wikipedia link. I want to do a video on FOV software. I saw that Stellarium also has an FOV telescope feature. I am also interested in the planetarium feature too. Lots to do with this hobby. Regards, Irving
was it mentioned if this is better than starstax? check out my vids

*These floats do what they say they do **enjoyable.fishing** recommend they come on and off easily and can be adjusted in seconds to adjust to the depth of the water you are fishing in. Used these with trout magnet lures and did really well with them in the stream!*
Tolles Boot! Verkaufst Du es? Bin aus der Schweiz.
Not enough thought put into it. Use a shroud on each side for lateral support, that's what shrouds do! I'll leave the reader to work out how, it's oh so simple...!
Just great!
great build! Do the plans call for a drum winch system for the mainsheet?
The plans called for an arm but in this reduced 80 percent I thought the drum would be better. Also I bought a cheaper radio and server which did not give enough travel.
Also I had a cheaper radio and servo which did not have enough travel
Excellent idea, I used to struggle with my mast, tried all sorts of things to stop the sway.
Have you tried it yet?
The video is much better if you hit that mute button
I lost the size for the fin trunk, for Emma, can anybody help with that, i dont want to buy another set of plans just for this, thanks.
The dimensions for Emma's keel are 15cm at top, 10.8cm upper forward edge, then angled to bottom, 54 cm trailing edge straight down to bottom, bottom is 6.4cm. Top and bottom are at right angles to trailing edge. Forward edge is right angles to top. but 10.8cm down is angled off to the bottom. There are holes at top for pins and holes near bottom for the lead. Hope it is clear.
Thanks you so much for this informative and helpful explanation. Wish I could like it twice for the righteous Clarence White selections! No idea why this video has such an insane number of dislikes, other than to say 101 people clearly have an undereducated musical palette. Clarence White is one of the greatest American musicians of any age, and dismissal of his monumental talent and bluegrass music in general as simplistic "hillbilly music" is at once to discount our national musical heritage as well as advertize one's own underdeveloped musical lexicon. But what do you expect from consumers of commercial pop music with its formulaic predictability, incomprehensible contemporary rap and hip hop, and mind-numbingly aggressive heavy metal...RIP Clarence White, a guy who actually played the guitar , you know...with his hands...
lose the guitar music
Don’t you need a third servo for front sail and the big sail so you have full control (sorry for my English I am Dutch )
There is enough sail control with lines to both sails (jib and main) using only one servo. The second servo is for the rudder. Your English is fine.
Oh wanted to say that the jib did not respond well because the line was too stiff.
Have a look at this video czcams.com/video/601iP7YPyQA/video.html and you can see how one servo controls two sheets for two sails. I have to finish my 80% Irene with a few hours for rigging and have just ordered plans for Annie and Regards
irandar ok I just wanted to ask because when I sail sometimes I have the jib out and the main in for turning if the wind direction changes from left to right or right to left

great idea. could i just use rope on both sides instead of the boards?
No rope would not work, unless you had two people holding it tight on both sides. As the mast is raised (or lowered) the slider, which attaches the boards to the mast moves down (or up). In this way, the mast cannot move to port or starboard. The boards could be very light weight, or even bamboo poles could be used. There is very little force on them. The only force is on the line and forestay running from the bow to the top of the mast. Be very careful to belay this. It is best to have two persons, one belaying the forestay line and one catching the mast as it comes down. Good luck and be careful.
@@irandar thanks much. i see your point now
I used rope with my mast raising & lowering. It must be tied on each side, in line with the mast. I leave just a little slack, so if it's not perfectly in line it won't be put on a bind as it's raised or lowered. I use a come-a-long to raise it, but a winch would be a little easier. I used to use an electric winch with another boat I had, which raised it very quickly.
wow turn the volume down morons
Muy bueno el vídeo y muy explicativo en detalles y construcción. Por fin he comprendido la instalación del servo rotativo para la vela un Barco simple, pero marinero!!! Enhorabuena!!!
Thanks for the complements. Are you building an RC sailboat? I have almost finished building Irene at an 80% scale, which gives 50% displacement, about the same size as Emma. I watched now some of your favorite videos. I have a few videos with real sailing and boating on the Irandar channel. Best regards.
Did you have to have the hillbilly music wide the hell open? I froze the video after 1 second - irandar, take some notes: 1) We didn't click your vid for a damn Deliverance rock concert, we came here for info on hook sizes 20 We can't concentrate on the info for the dummazz hillbilly music.
Fuck you dude... This is a free service, the creator gets to pick whatever music they like. On the subject of what people come here for, I didn't come here for your bitching over a video the creator clearly went to a lot of effort to produce...for free. Get a fucking life, and while you're at it, know that Clarence White played the guitar better than anything you're likely to do in your life.
The man ain't got no culture!
Can you please add links in the descripction to another good websites to download free plans?
I do not know of any websites for free plans. In fact, I am going to suggest that they raise the price for the plans. It is too cheap compared to all the other costs. Are you building something? Regards,
