At least it wasn't a long, drawn debacle like USS Coral Sea.
G'day Michael. Grant here in Tasmania. I'm wondering if you have another video update of the KH of is she completely cut up now?. Your videos are great, keep up the good work.
@@grantwise5735 I moved to Florida in May, so no more updates. I really enjoyed doing them.
How have you been man? Any updates on the kitty hawk?
Frantic call from Navy to scrappers. President Harris wants us to go to war, we need USS KH. Can you put her back together again??
I was on the Hall from 00-04. Good times in Pascagoula.
I was a BT onboard 87-91. Thanks for the video.
I served on the Claude V. Ricketts DDG-5 , 8-75 thru 8-78
Hi Mike! Is 3/2024 the last video you did of kitty hawk demolition? I couldn’t find any more recent videos. I wonder how she looks now? The Kennedy will be the next to make the trip to Texas!
@3:11 bottom right corner there is something big painted like a school bus i wonder what that is.
Hmmm…. 🤔
Is the boat completely gone now?
wow, shocking. I was shocked seeing this...entire film.....wow...just wow.
Michael...I'd like to thank you so very much for your repeated flyovers of my one-time home, USS Kitty Hawk. I served aboard her from late 1969 through mid-1973. Your videos brought a bit of my past back to life. I am indebted to you for them. Was THIS video the last one you filmed? Once again, thank you, sir.
Thank you for serving
RIP
I can't imagine leaving my family and then leaving the shore in this capacity. I miss my father. He was on this ship at the end of Vietnam in Okinawa. Michael Bluemling. He was the best man that ever lived
Thank you sir. I served in the Navy for 30 years onboard 7 different ships. I was a crew member of CV-63 from 1981-1984. She was my most memorable ship. We collided with a Soviet Victor Class submarine during one deployment. We also lost a young shipmate on the flight deck during local night operations. I will never forget this great ship. Thank you for the many videos as she was dismantled and laid to rest. May she Rest In Peace. I salute you all.
Oddjob 1795, She was NOT the first guided Missile Cruiser. The USS Columbus CG12 was Commissioned way back in 1962 Bremerton Naval Shipyard. I was there plankowner.
So Sad to see a Fighting Ship of the Line go to a scrap yard. I wish there were a better way to put them to rest. I served as a Destroyer Sailor during the 60's. Those Ships had a Soul of the Men who Manned Them. 😢
I was on USS Kansas City AOR-3 , we refueled the Kitty Hawk many a times out in the IO during the Iranian hostage crisis 🙏🫡🇺🇸
such a damn stupid song.
Served aboard el barco magnifico November 74 to August 78 signalman😊
Mike, is she gone now or are they still working on her?
@@raym1842 we sold our home in South Texas a few months ago and moved to Florida
@@michaelfarrell3446 Well, welcome to my neck of the woods. I'm in Pasco County.
I hate to see these ships go. It makes me feel old because I remember the years they were commissioned. My ship, CVN69 Eisenhower is not many years off retirement. When I think of the tens of thousand or hundreds of thousands of men and women who have served on these ships of their helping to defeat the Soviet Union and keep the free world free…. I’m at a loss for words.
I was on the 'Lake' 4/68-6/70 in the REB (re-entry body) shop...the area just below the missile break.
Sad😔 it should have been a floating museum.
Served on board from 1981-1985 in the Medical Department. Got my Bluenose on board but never crossed the equator to get my shellback. Seems like we were at sea more than home. Many Great Liberty Ports but lots of hard work also, RIP Sweet Lady, You have earned it, hopefully we will see your name on another great ship soon.
1993. Somalia.
Anymore updates coming up? 😢
Now that we're in July, it's time for another video. I suspect they're getting down to the bottom levels by now, not a lot left.
is the Hawk gone i have not seen no more video to the end ?
Any more recent videos?

Michael - looking for April and May Flyovers!
@carterchapman….. Michael posted a few weeks ago that he and his family have moved from South Texas to Florida. Personally, I thank him immensely for all the time, effort and money he put in to providing all of these videos! We all really got a really good look into KH’s “departure” from this world. God bless Michael, and God bless the Kitty Hawk!!
@@RandyKincade...Thank you Randy and thank you Michael Farrell for your time and effort.
Update coming soon?
Take she is all gone now ?? Any update ??
The original timeline had recycling to be completed in 24 months so I would expect her to be gone by the end of June. Most of the metal is sent over the border where its smelted and sent back to the US for cars etc. The armor belting is really high grade steel and my understanding is that some of it is sent north for reprocessing and use in new warship construction. Fair winds and following seas Battle Cat.
Wow!! so sad seeing her this way. I did "2" deployments on her, one in 1993, and another in 2006. Was a great ship and gave many memories.
any idea when you plan on flying over her again?
As Michael has stated in a few posts two weeks ago, he and his family have moved away from South Texas to Florida, so he’s not there to make any more of these videos. Sad for all of us, but we wish Michael the best in his new home!
@@RandyKincade looks like no one else is taking over
Hello Michael, Hope all is well with you. I see it's been over 2 months since your last video of the Kittyhawk dismantling. Is she now just a memory for all the old crew members such as myself? Thank you for all the videos in her final chapter. D. Forster MM3 '66-'68
I made the trip down to South Padie Island for the Kitty Hawk , I just might go back down there for the JFK too. No I did not serv on the JFK ,but I did serv on the hawk.
Just visited Battleship New Jersey today and guess what: CV67 has been tied up at Philly Navy Yard for a long time awaiting the ship breakers torch. I met a fellow old sailor there today . He did two Med cruises aboard JFK. He told me she is being towed to Brownsville next week (May. 1024) and I could tell this was an emotional time for him. I told him about the drone flyovers of Kitty while she was being dismantled. Maybe you’ll do the same for JFK? On a side note: the new JFK is tied up alongside the old Enterprise right now. Boy is she a beauty! Love these warships! Thanks for making these videos sir
I served on the Deuce for 3 fun years - a great ship - serving on her was one of the best times of my life!
Any chance of a new updated video?
Someone will need to carry the touch. My wife and I moved to Florida to be near kids and grandkids.
Michael..can you do a fly over this weekend?? TIA
I moved to Florida
Any new Kitty Hawk flyovers?
I'm afraid not. We sold our house in South Texas and are on our way to Florida
@@michaelfarrell3446 Hi Michael, I for one am VERY relieved to hear this good news. Thank You again. Wayne Traxel Snipe BT-3 4MMR CVA-63 1968-1972

Will there be any more updates?
Is this the last video you are going to make of her Michael Farrell ?
Yes. I am moving to Florida on Wednesday to be near kids and grandkids.
