Can you tell me why when I cut the match the strings falls apart

I'm just now learning to craft at 68 yrs. old which is silly I know but retired I have to find something to do at nights and weekends. I love this wreath cause I love the idea that you cut the mesh into pieces or strips and that's the way I want to make one but wasn't sure how. Thank you for showing this. I dont like the wreaths when they put the whole role there and weave it through I think they are called the bubble wreath. They are pretty and a lot of people seem to do them that way but I'm old fashioned or set in my ways but I love wreaths when they are cut into certain sizes. I love this heart wreath and going to make it. I know this is 5 yrs old but like I said I'm just starting and know absolutely nothing about crafting so looking for people that do simple and easy and affordable decorations from DT. I love DT and im sure a lot can be made but I need to find things I can make. I'm so happy I was scrolling and found your site and interested in the other thing you made so got to see if I can do that. So thank you and sorry so late, oh my name is Connie
