    Oh so my grip has a name 😅 I knit sloppy, neurodivergent continental. 😂 I let my working yarn stay loose I don’t wrap it so for sure my method is very inefficient… but my tension is beautiful and even. Crocheting for years helped a lot with my tension regulation. I have middle tension (I go up 0.5mm in hooks) for crochet and perfect tension for knitting (no needle changes usually needed to meet gauge).

    Great tutorial! I've made so many of these as Christmas gifts & smaller baby sized for showers before. For an added touch,I ads eyelettes and I ran some ribbon through the eyelettes and put little gifts in them like hand sanitizer, small liquid soap,chapstick etc. customizing it for the recipient, then I would draw it closed and tie with a bow. For myself, I added some scrubby yarn with the cotton, works awesomely and last a long time!

    Hi, your videos are very helpful. I have never used circular needles and would like to. The weight on the needle gives me shoulder problems. I wonder if you use a specific brand? Or you can recommend, which material is best and which sizes do you use most?

    • @cloknits
      @cloknits Před 2 dny

      I personally love metal needles and Chiaogoo are my favorite brand. For wood needles I like the Lantern Moon. When it comes to sizes, it really is dependant on what you like to knit, maybe think about what you made most in the last years to figure out what sizes would be best for you. Or buy the sizes one at a time for the pattern you want to make.

I also have two sets of beads 0-9 on clips that I can add at the very end to make numbers 10-999. No one can mess up my row counting or walk off with my clicker.

I’m asking so I’ll know what exactly to pick up at my local store. Thanks so much for the video.

    • @cloknits
      @cloknits Před 2 dny

      It really depends on what method you are going to use for knitting small circumferences. If you use magic loop, you can buy long needles in 5 and 4.5mm. But if you'd rather not use magic loop than you'll have to buy 3 different lengths of needles, 1 16" for the collar in the smallest needles, 2 long one for the body and body ribbing, 2 very small ones for the sleeves and sleeve ribbing. I personally would go for magic loop and less needles as it can get pricy if you don't already own them.

    Very helpful video, surely a number of knitters will profit from it. May I add, however, that the same principles can be applied to carrying yarn in the right hand which also has the advantage (for some, at least) of making purling much easier. In your video showing English style, the yarn is not managed nearly as efficiently as when you work continental. That is not a put down. I make the comment so that those who prefer to carry yarn in the right hand know it is possible to knit just as efficiently as left-hand carry.

    • @cloknits
      @cloknits Před 6 dny

    I'm a natural left handed person, but thanks to a brownie leader I knit right handed. I've watched a few videos trying to follow continental knitters, but none have explained it like you. I'm, somehow, 61 and after a lifetime of knitting and crocheting my hands and wrists are telling me to try a different technique. Just on the second toe of my next pair of socks, so think I will try this next knit time. A hat sounds a good project to do. I'll try in the round first and once I have the knit stitch sorted I'll try a flat piece. Thank you. I'll let you know if I succeed. Happy Crafting xxJane 🐑🌼

    Question... when placing the initial markers, does the beginning of the round marker count as the first marker?

    • @cloknits
      @cloknits Před 2 dny

      The beginning of the round marker tells you you are changing rows, so you start reading the line for the instruction after slipping the BOR marker. If it says k to 1st marker it would be the one after the BOR marker.

    I went to visit distant cousins in England some years ago and took out my knitting. The cousin looked with fascination and said, "I don't know what you're doing! It's like you're doing nothing and knitting happens!" I actually purl another way. When I do stockinette stitch, I always knit into the back of the stitch, so on the purl side, I just have to pick the yarn without any wrap. I also lost my right index finger in an accident, so I was very glad I knitted this way instead of English.

    I just found your channel today. Love your podcasts! ❤️ I grew up in Montreal, but live in Missouri now. It’s been a while since I’ve been back!

      It's a great city, I'm sure you would have a fun time visiting it again.

      @@cloknits Yes! My parents and extended family live in Ontario, so we don’t get back to Montreal when we visit. We plan to one of these days!

    Do I read my knitting? Yes, but do I understand it? That is a whole different ball game.

    Same here, yarn bowls are silly, I use a big vintage bowl from my great aunt. It's place is on the table and whenever I have time I sit and run through a couple of rows. It's amazing how quickly projects knit up for me. All these trendy things cost money I could be using to buy more yarn. Thanks for this video.

    Very cool, thank you for your intricate detailed “show and tell”!! ❤ Q: I guess I have some security settings and therefore can not see your link for the needles. Could you pls. let me know what they are, especially the tool you use for switching 😊. Thank you! Also, could you maybe do a tutorial for a worsted top down v-neck version? 😁 I’m in AB but shopped many time at Espace Tricot 💖
