Hit After Hit: Rap in a Post Kendrick v. Drake World | A Word … with Jason Johnson
Drake didn’t know who he was messing with, and was never on Kendrick Lamar’s level in hip hop. That’s the verdict of cultural commentator and author Touré. On today’s episode of A Word, he joins host Jason Johnson to break down the meaning behind the brutal rap battle, and whether Not Like Us, BBL Drizzy, Family Matters and other songs central to the beef will rewrite the blueprint for diss tracks forever.
Guest: Touré, host of the Touré Show podcast, and author of Nothing Compares 2 U: An Oral History of Prince
Podcast production by Ahyiana Angel

I was young and present during this time. A brand new member of the Briggs family. I have much to say about this henious time. It was a witch hunt. Both sides behaved abominably. Being at the forefront of all this was eye opening experience for a 16 17 yr old girl from a small Northern California logging yown. Propelled into national politics and the gay community as well. I spent many frightening times during that campaign. I was taught to love and accept everyone. Except criminals and killers . Not to persecute people for what they choose to down in the sanctity of their homes and bedrooms and tbe lifestyle they choose. Both sides had their militants and their utterly dangerous situations and hate causing conversations. Harvey Milk was a kind man to me. My father in law had a way of needling and pissing people off. Always his own agenda. I have never spiken publicly about this oeriod in history. I do believe and feel he unwittingly propelled the gay community decades ahead out of the closet and provided them a clear opening to be themselves. Not showing an agenda to convert children or convey hate. I hopeone day i get my say about the entire so calked conspiracy. The true reason. The big money religious and political machine and the games tbey play with people's lives. The death penalty was also on the ballot and a bid for my father in law to run and be elected to governor of California. So much going on behind the curtain of Im helping society and you. Ha bullshit. They help themselves to fame, money, names of would be contributors and their own agendas. Nothing more than that. Politicians are all cut from the same cloth a very few true altruistic ones do exist far beyond and between. I never supported that. But was made to give a solid Christian family appearance for the sake of his agenda the religious and political machine establishment.

Rational incoherence is a charge which is never welcomed by the promoters of successful incoherent doctrines, especially those which ground themselves on guilty factual distortions. If our Constitutional jurisprudence even survives, I think we should hope that rational sanity will be an important criterion for a new generation of jurists after the current incumbents have exhausted their lifetime appointments, resigned, or been reformed by exercise of Congress' real powers. Probability favors the first alternative.

White males built America. White women provided essential support. There were inequities along the way. Treatment of native Americans was a prime example. Slavery was the norm at the time. Times change. Constitution changed with it. The white men Founders made allowances for them and the system worked. Did Trump literally say "We should throw out all the rules and regulations even if they came from the constitution" ? Nonsense. Never happened. What the constitution did promise was equal treatment under the law. Anyone with half a brain can see that Trump is being selectively targeted by the establishment. He is the right man at the right time in our history to end the World Economic Forum agenda of one world govt.

Americans are losing their rights, purely because, when a court decision, or an election result doesn't go the way they want, they scream blue murder about it all day every day, until half the population thinks Trump won the 2020 election and is still the rightful president. They will go on believing this, whatever courts, judges, or the Constitution says. On the other hand: when deliberately planted insurrectionists carry on the insurrection, by usurping the Constitution itself and reversing the action of 14/3 (and also ignoring and playing Russian roulette with, Colorado's "guaranteed" Republican form of government), the actually, traitorously, robbed of their rights, just give up and go home! Where is the outrage? Where is the "TRUMP IS DISQUALIFIED AND CANNOT BE SWORN IN AS PRESIDENT" repeated on every program, on every media outlet, EVERY DAY UNTIL EVERYBODY BELIEVES IT!? But we've not heard a peep out of the States that were usurped, and robbed of their rights since; and the Federal Executive has made no objection; nor even the President himself, lifted a finger to have the insurrection declared, and the saboteurs removed from the courts and from Congress, for being plainly disqualified by the Constitution, and in contempt of both the general law and the Constitution itself! No: the States, the Executive, and the media of left or right, and the robbed populace, have uttered not a peep about Trump being legally barred from being president: NONE!!! Nope: openly corrupt, lying traitors, say Trump must go on the ballot, and everybody just leaves it at that. FFS! If it had been Biden, who had been illegally put on the ballot, the 'right' would be shouting the Supreme court down all day, every day, and demanding the actual heads of the rebel justices, every time they got near a microphone or camera! They would go on and on and on until there was no other subject of 'news'! They would keep going until the AG was shamed into arresting the rebel justices for treason! You know this is exactly what the other side would do, but the 'left' and the media just wait to be rolled over like rabbits transfixed in the headlights. The media is asking to be culled, and they will be, if they don't learn fast from Trump himself, how to MAKE things work the way they think they should. If not: RIP Democracy.
