Not practical. But I relate to the problem and think it would be better to make a light weight guide that can clamp to the bar and prevent the branch from passing under. When I am cutting small branches, it is when I fell a tree in the woods. I would not take them to the shop, nor take the large setup into the forest. I would like to see if you make a guide that simply blocked the branch from going under the saw toward the user and if the guide is at an angle, it will push the branch into the saw, so the angle should not be too sharp or you could get jams. I would have one saw setup with this guide for the job and a separate saw for felling.

Will the local vet or animal shelter let you borrow a collar or chip? That will make things quicker. You can get the chips in a disc that hangs from a cat collar from a pet shop. Also if you have a pay wave credit card or building access card, you might get lucky.

At this point I would like to split the problem in two. Is it the coil not detecting the cat's chip...or is it the IR sensors not detecting the cat's chin. I would like to get the cat within the magnetic field .. but not as far as the two IR sensors, then trip the IR sensors with my palm. Be interesting to see how far the magnetic field extends beyond the loop. With the usual loops it quite far.

Observation 1. The two lower optical sensors are probably to save power. 1: One sends out an infrared or UV beam, that it reflects off the cat and back down on to the other receiver sensor. 2: Once the beam detects a cat, it powers up the detection coil, which in turn produces a detection field. back to the video.

I used to work with RFD stuff a few decades back. Let me watch your vid and see if I can come up with a quick fix. I will tell you that adding wire to the detection loop will not be a good idea because it is tuned like a piano, so it will go out of tune with the rest of the detection circuitry let me watch the video and have a think.🙂

@m67pia There's a problem answering you so I make a new comment: It doesn't matter what way. Easiest is to hold the flap up and lure the cat through until you hear a click. Then you're good. 👍

Do i have to put the head of the cat in from the tunnelside to synk the chip, or can put the head of the cat in from the door flap side?

Have you tried making a 1 to 1 ratio mix of baking soda and honey corn bread mix? The rats eat it and they magically disappear. I always have it available in my chicken coop in a container or housing that would only be accessible to the rats/mice.

🫣 The snake will not harm the chickens or are they safe? I also wonder: apart from stealing the food (bad enough), are rats or mice harmful for chickens (biting, giving diseases, stressing them out...)?
