If you're going to pull out on the road in traffic, get your a** up to speed, BEFORE you merge.

Unfortunately, they are now trying to regulate trucks to a much lower speed than the regular flow of traffic on the highway. I believe that that will cause more rear-end collisions from traffic rear-ending the slow trucks.

When I was 4 years old, my family was headed to Lake San Antonio for the memorial day holiday. We were pulling the family travel trailer behind mom’s ‘56 Chevy wagon. We were halfway into our trip when another car coming onto the highway also pulling a travel trailer suddenly took a hard left going down the grass median between the highway and the on-ramp. Dad stood on the brakes and tried to avoid being hit, but he hit their trailer, turning it into instant fire kindling. During the course of avoiding the accident, dad jackknifed our car and trailer, turning it up on one wheel, us kids were thrown around the back seat, cars didn’t have seatbelts then, fortunately dad was able to pull it out and didn’t destroy our car. The the other car went head-on into the concrete overpass killing everyone in the car except the mom, the reason for the whole thing was that he turned around to smack one of the kids in the back seat and when he did it, he jerked the steering wheel to the left.

Ive been driving for a living for 20 years. Not trucking, but delivery jobs whether food or people. The people one got rough, working for my family. I went as long as 72 hours straight on duty. Then one day I lost 3 hours and i was driving the entire time. I realized it, jumped out and ran around the car looking to make sure i didn't hit anything. Had to start turning down rides after that. Also, I hit a lady back in 2003. A pedestrian. Be aware that lighting matters. Sometimes, when placed badly, they make it darker. These are called light wells.

Is saw this in drivers ed. The film was more clear. I still remember the first crash in this film to this day. It was more graphic. This film was too blurry. Their head injuries were very horrific. I'm not sure if anyone wants to know. So Ill leave it out

With all the numbers of death they’ve seen, you’d think by now they would be using billboards and TV ads to show what happens to the person and not just the car. Showing these details to the public, they may have a different opinion of DUI’s and reckless drivers when it becomes real, and not just another tragic story….

Yes, I have retired from Truck driving,18 wheelers, And I have seen them crushed, broken, flattened, burnt, & JELLIFIED!!! And its all due to Speeding - following distance, too tired, and Booze! Driving is serious business, and we all treat it like its nothing!!! but it is, if you really think about it. A cheetah was meant to go 50 to 60 MPH Not man we were meant to go 12 mph tops! And yet we speed around at 65mph like it's our right!!! No its a privilege!!! So please treat it with respect!

I've seen several of this type of early road awareness films, and in each one there were truly horrific injuries to the victims. Modern vehicle passive safety technology has truly saved countless lives, our inbuilt crumple zones, drive shafts with shear points, collapsible steering columns, etc, is in sharp contrast to the time of this footage. Likewise, post crash medical care has greatly advanced, with neck braces, spinal injury boards, defibrillators, helicopter ambulances, etc. None of these are needed when drivers operate vehicles carefully, within their capabilities and appropriately for the traffic, environmental and meteorological conditions in which they're driving! Being well rested and taking breaks can literally be a life saver, and the life it saves will probably be your own.

The horror of these films as related by my older siblings had me ready every day in drivers Ed.

When I took drivers ed in 2008 they were still showing this (on an old 16mm projector no less). My driving instructor who I nicknamed Lurch was old as dirt even back then so he was still teaching it the way he'd been doing since the 70's, cool guy though...

Why don't restore these films so you get a clearer look.. I think the impact in People would be more telling AND SHOWING. I really like these kinds of brutal reality! They stay with you for a LONG time!

I attended Highschool in CA and in 1973 taking Driver's Ed we were shown a film similar to this one I remember being terrified, not of my skills but all the other drivers on the same road as me. I have now been in Ohio for 25 years and it's weird seeing these landmarks from the past.

To me, the blurriness is more disturbing than any possible gore. It makes my eyes hurt.

I took driver's ed in 1967 and one of the movies that they showed was called Signal 7 IIRC. It was pretty gruesome

Ohio State patrol don’t mess around. Grew up in OH. Feared those fascists beasts my whole life. My dad was pulled over on Highway 44 off I 90 going 47 in a 44. Fascists beasts.

And car companies fought against seatbelts and air bags. Dead people don't have medical bills and the ability to sue.

You'd never get away with showing something like that these days. Too many people concerned that it would scare or irreparably harm the poor children. Got news for ya, that's exactly was it was SUPPOSED to do! It's not a video game people!
