Welcome to Scaramuzza Golf!
I Play 45's Toughest Golf Course?
This course is tough as #45 was! Insanely scenic right on the Pacific Ocean. You can see the pacific from all 18 holes. Pete Dye design so you can’t go wrong. Supposedly the most expensive golf course ever constructed? One hell of an experience you don’t want to miss!

I decided to do the Dana White Water Fast for 3 days. Before I break the fast, I wanted to challenge myself and see if I could play golf? Would the golf be good? Could I break par? Would I be too tired and shoot 45??? Let’s find out! The RV golf trips rolls through Pebble Beach for a drive on the 17 mile highway. First stop, The Links at Spanish Bay. This has been on my bucket list for as long as I can remember. All I can say is, this first tip tee box as a lefty made me the most nervous I can ever recall on a golf course. Agree with the Banbon DUNES COMMENTS
Pace of play is an issue everywhere.
1. I have been to Bandon 10+ times. Oven always felt welcome. Everyone there has exuded pleasantries be been too notch. I am so glad there are no drones flying over my head. Let everyone enjoy the course and surroundings. Drones are selfish. 2. Each course tells a story. Every hole isn’t on the water. Let me know any course that can accomplish that. Each course is set up to be unique but you’re right, all are in the same location. 3. Can’t find a rate sheet that shows $450 per round. Even the peak season non resort guest rate. That is just a straight up lie. Opinions on the course are great, but facts on rates are pretty easily audited by looking at the Bandon dunes website under rates. 4. Play the course you’re on. Stimp maybe slow, But hit the f’ing ball that is how the greens play. If you 1 or 2 putted every green then you can complain. Aeration is absolutely disappointing, and guess what they offer a discount when that happens. If you didn’t get it, I’m guessing you were not there then. I have received discounts on the aeration of the greens on courses. 5. Yep, I’m with you on pace of play. 4:30 is max good. If that can’t happen move people forward. Maybe it’s the “almost pared” groups that slow things down
thanks bro. i was thinking about going out there but now you have me reconsidering that decision.
It is a bit funny that you rage against the idea of putting from off the green, then show how you almost made par on 18 by putting from off the green.
Buddy is like "I'm an architecture snob"... then lists the most random assortment of architects. Pretty sure Coore & Crenshaw, Doak and Mcklay Kidd are on the mount rushmore of architects who are still alive. Make it make sense 😂😂
I’ve played over 80 rounds at Bandon and it’s never been more than 4.5. In fact, 40 of them have been under 3:30.
That's impressive! 80 rounds out here is a dreamers' dream! I get the impression this finance bro didn't even try "Sheeps Farm"... tsktsk... Sheeps Ranch has the most oceanic holes!
Brandon Dunes is the Mecca. Warm and fuzzys? 😂 You were expecting every hole to be on the ocean? Yea, keep your snobbiness at home.
LOL. You're a total squid
Great to see so much of Grant in this video!
Caddie+cart? That makes no sense at all.
You obviously never filmed your own golf content before g
As a matter of fact I have and a cart makes total sense for that. That Caddie laughed all the way to the bank though. Good for him!
Would play Bandon once a year if it was an hour drive and cost $150. Prolly not cuz couldnt get on.
I’ve found the worst take on golf CZcams 😂
Let's be real you are just a number to them. You're not special nor am I. If you had a big channel like good good, Peter Finch or rick shiels I'm sure you could've flown the drone
Unless you're very unconcerned with Money, Bandon is a Winter Golf destination. In that category, it is unbeatable.
glad i didnt have your experience when i went.
Been going there since 2006. maybe 13 or 14 times. used to go in winter when it was 75$ a round but now go in march or april. Never had a round over 4 hours and 20 minutes and was annoyed by that. 5 and a half hours I would have been furious. would have called the pro shop 10 times and sent emails to everyone in management. Usually they have marshals moving everyone along. Greens usually in the 8 or 9 range and fairways a tiny bit slower. When Trails was still fescue the greens were stupid fast. I'll admit some of the magic is gone and the customer service has gotten worse. Have a reservation april 2025 and may or may not go. A Five day trip 36 a day with lodging food and airfare from bay area is around 3K. The GM used to personally respond to questions and complaints but those days are gone. He would have comped that 5 and half hour round for sure. Now they wouldn't even respond. Will say that it is not a place to expect country club conditions. Has always been on the rough around the edges side of the scale. Doubt I'd make the trip from midwest or east coast. Not with Sand Valley and Cabot Links and england and scotland easier to get to. And I also only play the first three courses. bandon, Pacific, and trails. 36 on all of them and a third at pacific and trails if I have time. old mac is a miss. I'd bulldoze it and engineer a new one that actually looks like a Macdonald/Raynor course with hard edges and square greens. Like the National or Lido. and sheep ranch is just ok. Bandon has 6 or 7 all world holes and some average ones and some boring ones, but the good ones are as good as it gets. Pacific and Trails are just awesome start to finish. Both have a few round wrecker holes so a good round can fall apart fast. 6,14,16 on pacific and 7,13,14, and maybe 17 on trails. I would love to play the cabot courses.
Bandon is a dream trip for me but these points you bring up do make me second guess if it would be worth it or not. Would probably rather spend the money on a trip to Scotland if I want to play links golf. Not a fan of ultra slow greens either. Do they at least run pure or are they bumpy?
100% Scotland
I only know one Country Club player who has ever enjoyed Bandon. Absolute legends in the golf architecture world have courses here, and each one of them is incredible. What they did with the land, go check out some of the photos when it was being built; it’s INSANE what they accomplished. I’m Headed back in August for my 5th time. Three time Solstice player and would go every year if I could. The place is absolutely magical. As far as the customer service goes, I’ve never, ever experienced anything other than the utmost class and professionalism from every employee, caddie, maintenance worker, or guest services personnel. It is, in my opinion, one of the reasons it is ahead of so many other resorts. I can see how a country club player could be bothered at Bandon. It’s not a fire at the pins place; you have to be crafty, you have to be creative, you have to take in the surroundings and realize this is how the game was played. Elements, terrain, and design, are so much more involved at Bandon than “slow greens,” and I’m sorry, but if the green speed was a 10-12, your complaint of a 5.5hr round would have been a complaint about a 6.5hr round. It’s resort golf, not the Tour. I’d love to hear your opinion if you put the camera away, took in the beauty of what is a remarkable place, and weren’t concerned so much about how it looks on video. Need to have a little “Soul Golf“ in your life to fully appreciate what Bandon is about.
I’m making my 3rd trip back to Bandon this summer, just booked flights and I’m stoked. I respect your opinion, once you said you’re a country club guy I knew you were even before I clicked the video. Any country club guy I know that has been doesn’t like it 😂 it’s definitely not for everyone but to me it is a magical place! My favorite place on earth and I’ve played a ton of courses. 1. Both times I have been the staff has been incredibly wonderful. Shoe is the man, and will make your day. 2. Architecture, you cannot expect a course to look the way it does from an aerial view from a drone. I think that’s a big problem with golf content these days, people expect to see it that way but it’s just not reality. If you can’t tell the difference from old max compared to the others I don’t know what to tell ya.. completely different. Hoping you looked in to the design history of old Mac. 3. $450 dollars??? We are going in peak season and we are paying $350 this year. The real value is playing multiple rounds in a day, your second round is half price and your 3rd is free. I did the solstice and was handed a hundred dollar bill after to playing our 4th round of the day. 4. Greens are slow because of the wind they can’t keep seed down but I do agree with you on this one. I’ve been two different times of year and it changes. Trails is always pretty quick. 5. Pace is a problem everywhere, I have never experienced bad pace at Bandon maybe during one round when I played. In fact I’ve played Bandon in 1 hour and 50 minutes. Now this is the first video I’ve watched of yours but to each their own. Hard to compare a dye French lick or sawgrass to any course at Bandon. They are very different. Bandon was not created for the tour, it represents a lot more than competition golf.
Great stuff Carl. Heading out there next year. What order would you play those three (Pebble, Spyglass, Spanish).
Spanish, Spyglass, Pebble
Only complaint was the cart GPS complaining about every move I made 😂. Manny just laughed when I told him it took me longer to get back from the driving range the warming up! Great video 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
Yeah that cart gps is more harmful than good lol. Appreciate it man!
Wow! Great Video! That course is stunning!!! #TrumpLA is beautiful.

That sandwich was good lol Yeah….irons have been suspect so far. Lots of long irons though but that’s a weak excuse. I gotta be better
Thanks. Sloppy finish too or I could have broken 80

A must play for sure
Bad bad bad take. Bandon dunes gold resort is a top 10 golf resort in the USA. If people are playing slow, enjoy the beautiful scenery the west coast has to offer.
Soul golf 🙌
While they’re your opinions, I hope this bad take doesn’t stop people from experiencing Bandon. Seems to have a 1/1000 bad experience. Also the green fees need to take replays into account, where it’s 50% off/ or free. And the complaint about “flying into Portland”? Dude there’s 2 other closer airports.
You hope this bad take doesn’t stop people…do you own stock in the bandon dunes?
@@Scaramuzzagolfnope just enjoy golf and Bandon, nothing more. Don’t want your contrarian point of view for views to stop people from experiencing what’s actually great at the course.
