This clearly shows Sakura's pure and selfless intentions and her determination to protect Sasuke and keep him safe. But Gaara wasn't only reminded of protecting someone with genuine intentions, he was also reminded of LOVE. Gaara had a flashback after seeing Sakura protecting Sasuke in which one part was about how Yashamaru told Gaara that the wounds of the heart/a broken heart can only be healed by one thing, and that is love. Now remember Kishimoto's words from Sasuke's profile in Databook 2 ‘The one who filled his lonely existence with the emotion called love was Sakura." It was Sakura's pure love that healed sasuke's wounded and lonely heart. It's sakura's pure love for Sasuke that thrives her to save Sasuke. Sakura being in danger makes Sasuke decide that he'd buy his teammates some time for them to escape since both of them are precious to Sasuke. Look at how serious Sasuke is. He at no cost wants those dear to him to die and compares this scenario to the Uchiha massacre, showing how both of them are like family to him and that he'd risk his own life for their safety, like Sakura had done some time ago And then despite being this exhausted, he still catches Sakura and softly lays her down while giving her a soft and concerned look. After saving Sakura from the fall, Sasuke goes to tell Naruto how he can stop now since "Sakura's safe". This shows how both of them were really worried about Sakura. In Gaara Hiden, when reminiscing about the chunin exams and the attack, Gaara acknowledged the fact that Sakura was also one of the people who had taught him what it meant to love someone. "But..." Gaara said, "That Naruto came to fight me face to face. What it meant to live, how much merit there was in pain...and what it meant to love someone, those are all things that he taught me." It was a very precious memory. And it hadn't just been Naruto. Rock Lee. Haruno Sakura. Nara Shikamaru, who would eventually become his brother-in-law.
