Just make sure you have good ankle strength, to be on pointe, you have to have really strong ankles, and normally you have to be taking a class to help with that.

It was my abusive teachers that I (reluctantly) have to thank for showing me how to teach. I do the opposite of what they did. I treat my students with patience, empathy, understanding and respect. I want them to learn to love what they are learning, and feel like they have as much a right to their art as any professional.

It's never to late to do what you love. But I think a lot of adult beginners make the mistake of trying to go too advanced, too fast. Work on the basics. Focus on the foundational stuff, like foot strength and flexibility, turn out, posture and arm placement, core strength. It will keep you healthier and make your dancing so much more beautiful

Jesus Christ! What do you young people think 30 is? You think it’s “OLD”???? 30 is just barely an adult. I’m 53. I don’t look like this crazed, seizure- stricken woman. I dance ballet just as well as all the 30-year-olds in your videos. My body is slender, flexible, strong, youthful and lovely. (And by the way - who wears a granny-bra like this woman you chose to depict as an “old person” in your video? No one I know!) It’s a bit offensive. Maybe take it down?

U r my inspiration, I started ballet at 13 and it’s been so demotivating seeing girls at my academy already en pointe (I do consider that jealousy) and you’ve motivated me so much, you go girl..,

My parents could never afford to put me in ballet and now I’m 22 and putting myself in this is healing as I have always been insecure about being a dancer with no training….i start next week so excited

I 100% agree. This lady just gave birth!! Women are so vunrable in these moments of life!! The lack of sleep, the stress around giving birth and raising a kid. And of top of all of that she needs to deal with this!! I went to salsa dance classes for two years. My teacher was so mean. Every single class he would call me out on something that I did incorrectly in front everbody. Even when I know that I did everything right, he would find millons of flaws. I couldn't do classes anywhere else because all of the other schools did latin american dance classes only for kids and teenagers. They didn't take adult dance classes seriously. Only that school was the school in my area that took adult dance classes seriously. All the other teachers of that school were busy with other groups. I was always stuck with him. He would always end up teaching dance to my group. In September last year, he said some swear words to me he, he showed me his middle finger and after two years of dance he told that I still can't do the basic steps and that I don't know how dance at all. At that moment I had enough. I called him out on the spot, I left, and I even asked for a refund (the class wasn't over yet it just started). I also complained to the management of the school about him. After some time the managment invited me take tango classes in that school because that guy can't dance tango so he can't teach it. I accepted this invitation because that school is beautiful, I was not angry at everyone there, I was only angry at him. The other teachers were great. So I started taking tango classes in October last year just to keep dancing, and I did tango up until June this year. Later I noticed that they had a new salsa group that is at my level and it was lead by a different teacher. So I started taking salsa classes again and I have been doing that up until now. My new teacher is awsome. Now I am exactly where I want to be in salsa, because I just kept dancing even though it was a different dance. In dance it just important to keep going and not quitting. Baby steps add on. Eventhough tango is a completely different dance it helped improve my salsa dance moves. I would have leveled in up in salsa much sooner if all of this didn't happen but I am happy with where I am now when it comes to dancing salsa and tango was a beautiful journey. I met awsome people on the way and I went to cool tango dance events. I hope that the lady who had a bad experience with her ballet teacher find a teacher will find a teacher who will treat her with respect. As for my bad dance teacher, I don't see him at the school anymore. I heard that he had done this to other girls in other groups. He always chooses one girl per group to bully. This truly needs to stop!!!!
