I would definitely stick with the 3.15 diff ratio over the stock 2.81 ratio. The only flaw the stock M62B44 has is the 6100rpm rpm rev limiter, which is just too low considering the engine power peaks at ~6000rpm. Raising the rev limiter to ~6500rpm would help here.

Ahoj, na tomto videu nie je na aute AMA vyfuk ale komplet na mieru spravene dvojrurove vyf. potrubie vratane zvodov od jedneho starsieho pana z okolia Piestan. Vyfuk AMA ktory je na tejto 540i aktualne daval nanovo robit majitel po mne a vysiel cca 900eur. Jedna sa v principe o rovnaku 2 rurovu koncepciu bez katov, s Xpipe a dvojkanalovym koncakom ako pri vyfuku ktory som mal ja, s tym ze zvody su seriove M62/S62.

@@QuikModsOBS nope, it wasn't. You also need the M5 driveshaft and either the M5 halfshafts or the 33131214087 diff output flanges if you want to use the stock 540i halfshafts.

Sure, the car had a swapped 3.15 M5 LSD, one of the must-have mods. You cant properly enjoy a E39 540i/6 with the stock open diff :)

Well my friend, I have sold this car almost 3 years ago but let me tell you something. Those figures you have mentioned like 150kmh on 3rd gear and over 200kmh on 4th gear are definately achievable but only with the stock 2.81 ratio differential (I used to have that diff ratio on this car as well, check my other videos) but not with the M5 differential with 3.15 ratio that was on the car when this video was taken. Of course in combination with the stock M62 rev limiter @ 6100rpm. I was shifting gears always at 5800-6000rpm (also on this video) which is where the power of the M62B44 engine peaks.

No matter about engine peak, it's mostlyrecommended to reach rev limiter (or, let's say as closest as possible to rev limiter) in spark ignition engines to achieve best performance. :) for example if You have power peak at 5800 it's still efficient to reach rev limiter at 6200. :) that's because of gearbox and diff ratios and power band after shifting.

I can see your point but as already mentioned, I was always changing gears at approx 6k rpm, it was not worth to wait those 100-200rpms longer to risk that the rev limiter kicks in and slows you down.

oke . i have same 535i v8 vanos manual no cats muffler delte.. But my rev limiter dont sound like yours .. it doest pop in rev limiter ?

+VincV8 The vanos version of yours does have a restrictive 4-1 exhaust manifold with small pre-cats, that could be the reason why you don't have any popping sound.

+VincV8 It is a tough question to answer, the vanos exhaust manifold not only has the small pre-cats but it is also quite restrictive because of it's less flowing 4-1 design. The non-vanos engine does have 4-2-1 exhaust manifold with wider exhaust collectors. But I would say you can try to remove the pre-cats and see what the result will be like.

How about making a 540i looking like an m5 is gay ? If u cant buy an m5 dont try to make 1 cuz this is what we call gaaaaaay ! U probobly do t evenhave an v8 and put quad tips 😂😂😂

+Paul Claassen If you leave the back silencer in, it should be fine, no drone, it's the front silencer that kills the noise.

Yes, m62b44 was initially designed to work without cats (it was sold on some markets with catless exhaust). Just the smell of the exhaust gases after the cold start in the garage is quite terrible.

E39 je dobre utlmena a seriovy stredovy Y-rezonator plni svoju funkciu pohlcovania nizkofrekvencnych tonov velmi dobre.

hi, to be able to fit M5 diff on a 540i you need M5 propshaft (or at least the 2nd half of the M5 propshaft that connects to the diff) and you also need either M5 halfshafts or the BMW 33131214087 ouput flanges if you want to use the 540i halfshafts
