Resurrection of an old project from 2006 that was never really finished. It looked good complete from the outside, but it was a hacked up mess on the inside. I have some new guts to go in after some metal work. The old harddrive panel will be a swing out door to expose the Power switch SD reader, dual USB 3, and headphone/mic jacks.
Interesting items from my time working at a vinyl pressing plant.

Quadraphonic Front/Rear Comparison of Pink Floyd's 'The Dark Side of the Moon' by Alan Parsons

I simply cannot express how amazing it is to be completely immersed in this album. For me, It's like hearing it for the first time, times ten. Mastering engineer, Alan Parsons took full advantage of the Quad format, by ping-ponging sound effects, and the crazed laughter around you. On 'Us and Them', the echos circle around you, rotating the sound field each verse. If you have the proper equipme...

Wow, this was 12 years ago!

This just strikes so many memories! Truly an awesome composition!
What is the best way to transfer vinyl to get the best quality? I am about to begin recording my vinyl collection but debating on how to do it. I’ve got the audio technica lp 120 USB turntable with AT-VM95SH stylus. I have a Sony str-av1020 receiver. I can transfer the record straight to cd via an external cd recorder. Then import the cd into my laptop as a wave file using iTunes. I’ve always been happy with the quality doing it this way. Or I could connect the turntable straight to my laptop either through usb or to the mic jack and record that way without the receiver bc turntable has internal amp. I use audacity and export it as wave that way. I don’t use editing filters to remove pops etc…I think using filters takes away from the natural sound. Or I can use receiver and connect to mic jack on laptop. I wasn’t sure if it makes difference when recording to laptop if I should use receiver or internal amp with turntable. My laptop runs on windows 10 with the sound card that came with it. Could the sound card lessen the quality bc it is not a top of the line sound card? I thought still sounded pretty good. But I just want to make sure I’m getting the best results before investing lot of time. Could the sound card affect the quality whether I connect through usb? Hopefully this makes sense it’s just there are so many ways to record…appreciate any feedback. And by quality I am referring to the natural smooth sound of the lp. I know the stylus can make a difference and that is why I upgraded to the shibata. My lps are in great condition, every now and then there might my a pop or crackle but I do not mind that. I love lot of bass. I am kinda just leaning towards recording straight to cd recorder via Sony receiver but want to make sure. Any tips on scanning lp covers? I plan on doing it with gimp art and scanning in portions and then put together. If there is an easier way with great results please let me know. Thank you!

I spotted your Herb Alpert "Whipped Cream and Other Delights" album....nice
Old Eric from toll cross Edinburgh had an extensive library of ex studio 15ips reel to reel tape . One of which was this album , in quadraphonic, from the 70's . With a six pack of Guinness and some number 6 "ciggy" we listened to it all the way through . Twice . Through 2 amps and 2 pairs of Bose 601 speakers . It is astonishing. The footsteps run rings around you !!! He also had loads of Stones early Jass music . Much missed is Eric ..😢
the memories brought up by this version are priceless...days long gone..none like them to be seen in the present day...there is much to be said for "living in the past", especially when the future has little to nothing to offer... thank you for posting this song...
TIP TOP my friend! - Fond memories of a happier and simpler music business for both musicians and audiences. . . .
I love it ❤
Speelunker cave ost
I've been searching for this song for nearly 50 years (since I was a kid). I used to hear it on the "easy listening" station. I never knew the title of it, till now. I had no idea that it was associated with the movie. But this was the first song that I ever recognized as sounding romantic, and I was only around 6 years old at the time. I played my own little romantic scene in my head while listening to it back then. I remembered a girl in school and the image of her in my head went, well, a little wild, even at that age.
My mom used to listen to this song and I loved it.
Girlfriend says "your quad thingy needs to be put away". Nope, Girlfriend is put "away". Home, home again. There is no way to convey the quad experience on youtube or any stereo, you just need to hear on a quadraphonic unit with four matched speakers. I have the Japanese QS quad mix, the Australian SQ version and the parsons digital. I have three quad receivers. Vinyl is the only way. "Haven't you heard"
I think I have the SAME Wyncote label and Cheltenham orchestra, but playing "Songs from Goldfinger and other Bond Favorites"! In poor condition, but I digitized it like 20 years ago!
The Alan Parsons quad mix was released in the 70's on quad 8-track and SQ vinyl records
I have had this deck cense I bought it new in the mid 90's, never had a problem with it, . When recording the source only means your listening to the input source, then you can hit the tape source to hear the tape recorded track. (If someone doesn't know)
hi there gilmour! Ive bought one for 80 bucks in Hungary, the problem was the speed was too fast after reparation it was all right, and on the swtchleaf board the swich was not reliable that function was switching normal or chrom.Otherwise some adjustement, record level, bias pots. now in excellent condition, I use it with normal tape I ma poor man,and frequency range from 15-19000 hz is good for me at -20 db s level. GREATdevice,IVE got six ones ,2 DD5,1KDA55,1 KDV-6,1TDV-531,that also a good deck, but a little plastic gear went, the rear motor,so far Idid put some silicon grease on the plastic gear
Todos dicen que muy buena película, pero nadie dice el nombre de dicha película...!
Hard to watch movies around to much
I'm glad you did this demo. I have a Sansui QRX 7500a. The "a" was the designation for Sansui's upgraded quad IC chip. Your Kenwood's sound is great, comparable to the Sansui's 5500 and 7500 before the "a" chip. But, with the enhancement my rear channels VU meters are way more active and the separation is even better. Also, bass moves from front to back in certain songs. This I never experienced with my Sansui 5500 non "a". Do, if Kenwood produced an upgraded IC circuit before quad died, you may want to listen to one. I still love my Sansui QRX 5500, BUT the QRX 7500a is better. Either way, I'll never get rid of my quad, and my friends agree even after comparing Pink Floyd in Surround 5.1 they prefer the old quad mix by far.
The rear channels have less bass and more echo.
Is there digital cd4 audio files of this, or are you playing it from an album?
This is a great share, black tape always brings back memories
❤ Just awesome 🤙
Uau! Que interpretação sensacional!
Thank You for this, I remember it well!
Top notch quality audio on this one Gilmour!
Delicious. So early 1960s. So wonderfully jazz and Bossa Nova. Grew up in the late 60s and 70s listening to music like this. Such fantastic rhythm, so lyrical, so much music. Just makes you want to move.
Beautiful amp! & great album.
Lalo Rulez!
Beautiful music 🎼❤️😍🎵🎶 thanks so much
wheres the videos of the drums one and bongos one?
The LX-5 really hit the sweet spot. Indistinguishable recordings was a reality with them. Best ever! I miss top notch analog.
Классная дека!👍 В коллекцию бы такую!)
" stevie was amazing 👏 !" " how he changed his voice with his talents !"
It’s tricky to place you turntable on the speakers. The movement of sound waves will make your turntable resonate, which disturbs the smooth readout of your stylus, leading to distortion.
How is this album? Is it a one hit wonder or is it one of the secret essentials every collection should have?
Grab this album, if you get a chance. You won't regret it..............
nothing beats vinyl
my sister had this on 45 i played it over and over when she wasnt home
what is the instrument at the beginning of the song making the strange noise??
What's up with the turbos and manifold in the background? What were those gonna go in?
Well done! LOL
This is amazing. Thank You !
Ah, from a time when musicians made actual music, instead of stars makings songs. They're not the same.
끈적 끈적한 연주음악 많이 좋습니다.
Any way you can put the whole thing up here and let it play?
