6:27 Nice to see my studio-scale Mk IX Hawk replica - I'd forgotten I'd taken it to the con.
apart from maybe three layouts, I am now not disappointed that I didn't go. . . the Ribblehaed one was just a joke... and I am no fan of old three-rail and early triang.. sorry but not my thing, nor is narrow gauge although the Abbey light railway was at least a well detailed set-up, shame the real thing isn't there anymore.
17:53 Looks like that 2nd HST coach was a bit de-railed! In fact, the whole of the track bed on that layout looked like a roller coaster!

I loved this show as a kid. When I was older as an adult I learned to imitate the movement of the characters. I got so good my friends would fall over laughing. Even that was long ago. Great memories though.
The play value of these old train models cannot be denied. Great to see.
Are ANY of these actual, original, props and puppets??
All the models are replicas. I think all the puppets are all replicas too.
Yes some models were original, like the big Eagle, space Precinct cruiser and Zelda Ship, but most were scratch built replicas and kits. Puppets included original restored heads on replica bodies and full replicas.
Some live commentary about TT scale would have been made this really interesting and informative indeed even the fact it’s more prototypically accurate than OO , the most compromised scale in the hobby - track too narrow between running rails , and track sleepers to close together , flanges over sized etc………. Especially as Hornby are reintroducing it with even finer scaling decades later “
I agree about the lack of commentary but this isn't the TT you are thinking about. This was 3mm/ft or 1:101.6 against 2.54m/ft or 1:120 but running on 12mm. Just like OO and N the track is the same as those used internationally but the vehicles are to a larger scale.
@@neiloflongbeck5705 well aware it’s 3mm ( another compromised scale released forty years ago in the UK) all the more a need for some commentary don’t you think ?
@@keithdoherty8809 that's not clear from your original posting. Also how can Hornby be reintroducing something that wasn't made in the UK? British TT track was worse than OO was inaccuracy but only just coming in at a scale 4ft against 4ft 1.5in for the larger gauge. The new TT may be more accurate, but are you aware that the BRMSB tried in 1945 to get EM gauge adopted as the standard modelling gauge or at least a switch to HO but as Hornby had a large investment in OO it never happened. Funny that....
@@neiloflongbeck5705 TT120 has been around for years , true nothing prototypically UK to date , still TRIANG TT of the 1960s is of interest in and of itself and they aren’t unrelated . I believe that TT120 with Hornby , Heljan and Peco could be quite a success if marketed well . Through £200 for starter set seems £20 over the top . I do think Hornby may have made a mistake on selling via web only through.
@@keithdoherty8809 IIRC TT was originally developed in the USA around the mid-1950s but only took hold in a few markets primarily in eastern Europe. The problem is that just like with Triang TT it's trying force its way into a crowded market place, but this time it's got 2 established gauges to compete with. Whilst it has a size advantage and more accurate track gauge, it doesn't represent much of an improvement over N gauge being only 0.48mm/ft larger. N Gauge track in the UK is only 0.7mm under scale and that's less than the width of a rail. I think that many retailers won't want to stock TT in case it doesn't sell, whichnis probably why Hornby are 9nly selling it on their website for now.
Wow amazing, wish I'd known when this was on to visit, now I'm 64yrs but be childhood dream to have seen these beautiful models in person ! Especially loved the Fireball XL5 my personal favourite. Hopefully they'll be another show similar to this in the future?? 🙏 🙏

Any idea where i could get a replica of the Fireball XL5? or any info on those models at all?
The display was made of items from the collections of various fans, including some screen used original items, models, puppets, and props, although most were replica items, full scratchbuilds, garage kits, and commercial plastic kits.Fireball was 40 inch replica build, an upgraded copy of the model used on the recent Fireball dvd and more recent Blu-ray boxsets.
