I think this was a great symbolism for whats going through Ellie's mind. 'I must have forgiven him right at that time. If I can forgive Abby, I must have done that to Joel on that day'. For all the narrative flaws this game has, this scene was phenomenal

"She would be lucky to have you" Not sure if many folks started to cry during this part, but i did. At this point in the game Ellie wasnt sure if Joel, the macho Texan man, bronco type, would have supported her being into girls, but him saying that any girl who'd be with Ellie would ne lucky showed her he accept her for who she was, even if it wasnt said out loud. Dunno bout ya, but as a gay boy this really made me tear up.

I have mixed feelings about this game as a whole, most of it being the narrative, of course. I'm currently replaying it at the moment, but i will not lie, this scene right here is perfect in terms of emotion. Always gets to me recently with how Joel knows in his heart that what he has done is unforgivable. Hell, he's done many disturbing things which we have not even seen, just to survive, potentially being a monster in many people's eyes But we all played the role of Joel, he suffered, he struggled to survive for so many years and we understood his motivations. All that hurt and loss changed him and to a degree we can all relate to that feeling. "Sometimes good people have to do bad things" And thru playing as him going along this journey with Ellie, we all soon became attached to these two but especially with Joel. And when he felt like he wouldn't be forgiven for his choice to save her by the very person who deeply cares for him and for whom he deeply cares about as a daughter, only for them to say they'd like to try to forgive them, it's bittersweet to know the relationship they would've had would be mended eventually but as we know, that opportunity was robbed from the both of them. And thru that experience she learned to forgive the unforgivable with Abby (as frustrating as that was) as well. This game is not perfect obviously, i still get angry to this day about the way his death was handled so early into the game but there's always that last impression or ending or a certain scene that illicits such a reaction out of me that it just sticks with me. This game ending as tragically as it did, only made me wish we had more interactions with the both of them on better terms bc we all know they both deserved it.

⁠I’m pretty sure six only eats from the curse because she had turned into a monster and back into a child. Meaning she only got her hunger by being a monster and back into a child, but it never left her. The only people who eat in this game are the monsters specifically so I’m assuming that stuck with her. That shadow six is a reminder of what she did. I also find it interesting out of all the glitches six’s glitch could move freely. All other ones were stuck in place BUT hers. So that’s also something to think about.
