Just curious - what time of the year was this and did you experience much rain? I'm doing some of this same route plus the SJ islands next week (July 4) and am trying to plan. Thanks !
5:09 is there a correlation between the weight of the riders and how long the break in period was? It would make sense to me that a heavier rider would stress the leather a little faster than a much smaller rider.
I hope you are doing well.
What size is this bike that you reviewed?
Thanks very informative
Amazing and inspiring video!! I am now planning a similar adventure for this summer and I was wondering if you have more information on how to "camp out" at schools? Do you just show up and ask if you can sleep there, or do you have to book somehow? Thank you so much!
Good video thank you
Great video, you two are awesome! Flat pedals with soft soled runners, one year 1700 klm mountain biking and i wore the soles out lol. Went with a MTB shoe specific for mountain biking. But touring around or gravel biking i wear what is comfortable!
Somehow mine just wont wear in even a little. Not even after 1000km its just hard as a rock and hurts my ass. Can it be i have the tention too tight ?
Short-haired Ryan looks really hot! Nice vid! Keep it up!
Whatever happened to these awesome two
No e-bike allowed on the coastal dirt path. Remember that.
Gently tapped the subscribe button 👌
I love the video..
Sending positive healing vibes!! Know your channel is missed and I hope you are better.
what do you call the little rear reflector?
take care and we are waiting for your nice videos
How skinny of a tire do you think I could get away with riding through the park?
Very rad! I just got some LuBanSir Cinch Straps velcro Straps to add extra gear as well to my bike. Check those out if you have time. I still like voile Straps too
Great review; thank you! But "Tips to be a Good Host" could be worth mentioning too. :)
thanks for making the blog XD I was unaware of the no bikes on the airport train - good to know
Thank you for the informable video. Is the awning mode possible both side?
The B17 is a *saddle*… all others are seats. I bought one when I got my Trek 520 (about 10 years ago). I’ve loved since my very first ride, in blue jeans (no chamois). Straight out of the box, for me, comfortable from the first sit - I didn’t need to break into it, though as the mileage added, it just got more comfortable.
I will be in San Clemente tomorrow. Any group rides you recommend for road bikes?
Ok, after watching this video. I am going to take my looks clips off my Cannondale road bike. And put some of these flats on.. and ordered some 30mm tires to replace the 30 year old 25mm tires. its more of a recreational bike now. I have just tried the Chester MT bike flat peddles. Did put a few holes in the back of my leg. Yes I am a Klutz. May file those screws down a little.
Maybe I should try some LOOK Cycle - Geo Trail Grip Bike Pedals - Flat Pedals. Would have already ordered them if they were not 3 times more expensive than the Chesters. or clones
Great Video! You can lock both bike wheels to the frame to a steel pole. Do you remove the Brooks saddle (Allen wrench and it comes off) when locking up your bike in the street?
This is the stuff. Great high spirits. Being from thr countryside on a poor part od the world, there were soooo many things in this video that eere familiar to me. Keep up.
I love your channel. You are the only ones that approach these questions normally. Very informative.
I will subscribe since you asked so nicely to gently tap. That is my speed.
Thank you so much for a great review and general information about pulling a trailer. I am 76 years old and I am anxiously awaiting delivery of an electric MTB. I am committed to improving my health, getting out of the house and back into the outside with hopes of doing some local bikecamping. Presently, I car camp and also have a 20' offroad RV. But, RVing is not camping nor is it great exercise. You have convinced me to hold off on a trailer for now and first go with panniers. I already have some pretty good gear, including a small 20" (packed) tent, pad, stuff blankets, stoves and such. Most trips would be limited to two days, three at the most and I am hoping this could be handled by an Ortlieb Rack Pack 31L as well as a decent sized front rack and bag. BTW, I subbed and am looking forward to watching your videos.
Hope your journey and rest have been going well. My experience with long COVID, it took around 1.5 years to feel like I was fully back to normal.
Thinking of purchasing a brooks for my dalton highway ride I’m planning
25 dollars shipping for a 45 dollar kick stand that weighs less than a pound? No thanks
I want shoes mostly for river crossings, maybe to wear at camp or to the pub of an evening. I wear gravel style cycling shoes on the bike. I’m after low bulk, lightweight and quick drying!
🎉🎉
Thanks for the video. I'm looking into getting one. Thanks for all the info!
I think you could theoretically use other leather conditioners like obenauf's or sno seal, but those are made for soft leather like boots and belts. A Brooks saddle is a hard leather, so the Proofide probably works better for that reason
Hi I"m Chinese . Nice journey ! I never have a bike tour in Fujian . Cause China is so big
totally agreee ladies!! i dislocate my pinky for using clipless, so i did ride on that clipless!!!😢
Fantastic video. It gets across a huge amount of information very succinctly. I wish all CZcamsrs could be like this!
Yeah, everyone is different. Flats killed me on a long bikepack recently where I needed to do more hike a bike and a bike carry. The support just wasn't there so my feet were throbbing after the first 30 miles. Floppy and unsupportive shoes are not as comfortable over any distance. And they are way heavier (pedals and shoes). And, because there was a lot of hike a bike, I came back with my right shin and calf absolutely ripped open from the viscous pins on those pedals whenever I strayed to near. My SO was horrified when I returned. I wished an over and over I had just carried a light pair of trail runners for the bike portage. So yeah. Right for you maybe., but definitely not right for everyone.
Some good advice but the cycling with other cyclists the train experience doesn’t work for me. As I see the your point but you don’t see what going on behind you in the eyes of the driver seeing many cyclists to pass and seeing the cars, trucks approaching from other directions. Both see you , brake, all meet at the same point beside you. This back up the cars behind you, if there two , three four or more cyclists you get the leap frog effect, it’s better for two cycles to ride about 100 feet apart or together. California Hwy 1 and Hwy 101 can get get very narrow in many places I’ve ridden the coast many times, both north and south. There are a lot of tourists. Please be careful doing sleep ride. That happens when your body keeps peddling but your so exhausted your head goes down you so of rest your mind suddenly thing happens your surprised back awake.
Great info here. Those Adventure Cycling Maps are fantastic. A lot of handlebar bags have built-in map holders, or you can get a separate map holder. I rode SF to LA in the summer, and while it was busy, being on the bike made it a breeze! I never had to worry about finding parking or campsites. Most state parks are prohibited from turning away cyclists, so even if the sites are full, you can usually find a spot if you ask nicely.
If you are bike touring and you have your bike insured you must use a lock, otherwise, don't bother making a claim!
Good job my friend 👍 🚴♂️🚴♂️🚴♂️
I can cycle as long I have water 🌊💦 🚴♂️🚴♂️🚴♂️
Love this Chanel.... amazing adventures
after going threw the mill ur VERY RIGHT LOL GREAT SHOT
. Luv it!!! I swapped from a pannier rack & bags to saddle mounted and honestly... I'll never go back to the rack.
Breaking a saddle in does NOT take a couple of weeks. When I first installed mine, I did about 800km in around 10 days and then I used that bike quite a lot (I'm a daily commuter, but I do have other bicycles). In my case, it took about 6 months till it fitted like a glove. It was confortable from the get go, but I know some people never manage to break it in (rare cases).
