It that your expert opinion about an advanced tool from a multi-billion dollar world-wide company?

@@atvheads As opposed to paying for someone to sharpen a fully carbide drill at that size? The cost of easily replaceable carbide inserts is almost negligible compared to the time cost of having to change a full drill and getting it sharpened. Not to mention how the cost of a fully carbide drill of that size would cost a lot too. Now, if you live somewhere where the labour costs aren't that high then spending more time on it instead of paying more for the tool may make more sense.

It will last longer. With feed milling all the cutting forces go directly upward into the spindle which is a GOOD thing, unlike traditional side cutting/milling which puts a lot of radial force on the spindle (not good). Feed milling also gives EXTREMELY predictable and reliable tool life with very high metal removal rates.

​@@CNCMatrixcompared to the very smooth cutting from more traditional side-loaded tooling, high feed shakes and vibrates machines significantly. The impulse from this is the root of my concern. Chatter can kill a spindle. What many high feed tools exhibit seems to be low frequency, high amplitude chatter. I haven't seen independent studies done.

I am really confused by our comment, it looks like the video is shot with cameras setup outside of the machine and focused in on the tool body. the machine is a vertical milling center where the table moves in the X and Y axis and the Z axis (spindle) moves up and down, the spindle does not move in the X or Y

Curious what sounds horrible, I am new to this type of milling

To me that sounds like a face mill going through alloy steel. i don't see whats wrong with it
