With the right equipment 3-5 sessions. About 100-150 starts. If you have good equipment even faster. It’s not that hard!!! I managed 1 min 40 seconds on terrible foil (small) in 5 sessions and I’m 50.

From my talks with many foilers, the average is between 150-300 dock starts; I'm sure your kite and windsurfing background will help you, although you need to get used to the foil.

@@boardtales Wow! I have almost 3000 attempts and get 8 seconds the most. I'm about 1. 65 meter tall and weigh 63 kg. I have Axis 1150 PNG and 460 V2 as my set up. I tried Axis 1300 PNG but I don't have enough weight to control the front foot. I think my pumping skill is not good without helps from a kite or a wing.

Try foiling behind a boat, a bungee or an electric winch. Have seen people pump a foil within a session with one of these!

@@kevinmikaere48 I am going to be taking a surfing lesson soon. Any advice for first timers? It will be at Surf City, N.C. waves are pretty small unless we are expecting a hurricane.

@@heatherbenson1663 hey hi ya am from new Zealand a place called mount manganui bay of plenty good luck pronouncing this name:). Can only go my own experience s over 20 plus years for me was staying with as can go into 2 to 3 to 4 years before it feels like you're really starting to get the gest of it was almost giving up stages lots did .and then one day you'll go out when you least expect it small waves terrible cold and all that 4 years work comes together in one day believe it or not how I started as this is really only the beginning of your surfing career. From here on in your learnt the basics. Taking the drop .bottom turn is wher it gets going get good at these to moves as it sets you up for the rest of the waves coming your way other moves will fall in to place we have a saying even a talented person would take tens years minimum to get these moves down like pro standards sort a thing. Good to try different boards o the way different conditions the board your on perfect 3 yrs or less your know when have grown up here in out little beach twn and surf along side nz champs etc kooks.lol worldlongboard commpeters. They would all tell you the only knowledge they can help you with is show you wher the beach is huh.as you will learn your own way is a stage that we all get to dance on and I think because we all look different we all surf different which is a beautiful thing huh.can just just say it will change your life if you want it to only a surfer knows the feeling corni huh .good luck out hope to keep me posted on u tube from start up. Kool you're be fine you want to do it thats all you need. Only advice I can give you Is have fun.outher this sport you teach your self mind telling the body how to dance on this stage you want to be on we all dance different .yes these little tips you will pick from watching surfedcation films can be helpful .grew up learning how to surf with Zealand champs etc .kooks .the only advice we got was where the beach was the board your on is perfect it will get through the basics 3 to 4 year s .when you're learnt how to take the drop bottom turn your away the rest will for in to place then 7 to 8 years you start to work on polishing your moves dance moves making them look pretty etc s0 rewarding .it can be quite tough for a while learning as it may feel like you're not progressing the way you may think you should be surfing like no other sport it's all if then put in to one so when it gets tough hang tight one day you'll go out and it all comes together when you least expect small waves terribly cold and away for ever surf vocabulary will down dude .all the pro surfer s out there started just like you so don't take bs from road rage outther.hope you keep your followers up to speed with progress this will be so entertaining for sure am friends with lakey Peterson on CZcams have never met here but she will definitely give e you the vibe moves when you feel like have concrete in your feet .let's us see how it's done ok x
