Past Times Pinball History Ep 21: Disco Fever
The first of only two games to feature "Banana Flippers." The game was not well received but a large order was already purchased so they were also included on a future game called "Time Warp."

Past Times Pinball History Ep 19: Hercules
zhlédnutí 798Před měsícem
This massive game is the largest game ever to hit production. Operators discovered that this novelty game did not generate the more profits than it's smaller counterparts yet it took up the space of roughly four regular-sized games thus cutting into the profits of the operators. The increased costs to create larger unique parts and the higher shipping fees, unfortunately, made Hercules a diffic...

VIdeo is panning quickly all over the place. Hard to see which games are in your arcade!
farewell Mike. you will be missed. you did a hell of a job setting the place up and i will be eternally grateful that you allowed me to volunteer. best of luck to you. just won't be the same without you.
Banana flippers looked cool, but once you played with them, you were looking for the regular ones
Another interesting episode…thanks
Always excited to see a new Past Times History drop
You guys are just doing it right! Wish you were open before we moved down south. Luckily we have Kelly at Pinball Palace and Eric and Erin at Radioactive down this way. 🎉🎉🎉
If you want Time Warp to be factory correct, it should have blue banana flippers, not yellow.
Is it possible to enjoy banana flippers🤔
I recall playing Time Warp as a kid when it released. I thought hmm, unusual. They were okay after time and adjusting to their weird design usage.
instead i will play Barry O's BBQ, Orbitor 1, and Shooting the Rapids
As soon as I looked at the playfield I instantly knew it was banana flippers. I didn't know there was only 2 games that feature them though. They must be pretty unique to play
Great stuff.. love to see and hear about the machines. 👍👍
Congratulations 🎊 🍰... The world needs more places like this. I leave far away and I'm old but I will visit one day 👍👍
What an amazing showcase video with the use of props and dress up. Haven't had the chance to play this pin yet but it looks to be well made.
Simply incredible.
Mr hale. Nice show!
In college decades ago my roommates and I had several pinball machines in the living room of our apartment - Black Knight was one of them! We kept our machines pristine and in perfect working order :-)
You mention that WMS production numbers were about 400 per game run compared to GTB average of about 1000 and BLY with 850. that is inaccurate, mostly because BLY was not making flipper pinball machines at this time (1960-61 era), Bally did not return to making flipper games until 1963.
I've visited Past Times Arcade twice so far. It was glorious.
Wish I could be there
An Electromechanical production record that will never be beat.
How hard are these to maintain? Heard that Atari pinball machines were not very well made and prone to breakdowns.
1:25 - High Speed entered the chat.
It would be cool if you guys could get ahold of the Road Runner prototype and complete the collection.
That'll be a tough one. Only 2 made. One is at the Pinball Hall of Fame.
@@pasttimesarcade which is a shame because the PHOF sucks.
I love the artwork on those widebody pins.
I was excited to play these when I visited. The Atarians and Hercules are mentioned in the Atari 50 collection but it's a tease because there's no way to play them.
That's cool the first widebody, I think the only widebody style game I've played was a funhouse a long time ago
Fun game. This is the first time I'm seeing the machine prepped for the dollar bill acceptor.
Best Selection and best Condition ANYWHERE
Para mi ir a ese lugar seria como ir al Paraíso!!!!!
Would a good player be able to play longer on a replay machine, or the add-a-ball?
I AM ADDICTED TO WATCHING THESE!!! 😮
dancing with the pinball devil since 1979
Legendary
Where is this l9cated my wife wud absolutely love this place
We're in Girard, Ohio, just north of Youngstown.
Darren Charnley
I actually know a place to play this. “Flower City Arcade”, Rochester, NY. 15 bucks play all day.
This is my favorite episode so far for sure! Keep,em coming Mike 👏
The one at past times plays really well. I think the ball switch has a lot to do with it. And its the best maintained Hercules I've ever played. Its rather fun in all honesty. I think everyone should stop in and check it out!
i went head to head with Koi Morris on Hercules..... he beat me two out of three games. Years earlier i took a friend and his kids to Tarpon Springs to play pinball. We have an adorable picture of his then 6 or 7 year old daughter straining to reach both flipper buttons
Uses a cue ball?! 😮
Glad to see it got fixed. Was there on Sunday and it was down.
I saw one of these at the PNE in Vancouver back in the mid 90s. It's such a weirdly slow game because of its size. Glad I got to see it on an actual location considering only 500 were made.
The fact that you play the game with a cue ball sized ball is a trip from what I've seen though it plays really slow
Flap them flippers. Flip them flappers. Gee, I was hoping to see you play it for a few minutes. Thanks for the vid.
Awesome
Thanks for the great video. Well researched indeed. I just want to add the fourth chime was used as a forth musical note for the coinup and game tunes played by the chimes. Something completely new at the time.
Wasn’t CF The 1st to use mirrored paint on the backglass?
One fun fact, even though Elton John is playing Wizard on the Backglass, in the actual Tommy movie, he's actually playing Buckaroo
Thanks for this video. 👍👍 OK, time for a part two demonstration of this fantastic Ed Krynski design. Lights on the playfield representing pool balls go out as you collect balls, lit pool balls on the pool table in the backglass go out as you collect pool balls, and the dropping miniature pool balls in the backglass appear as you collect balls. These two games really generate the fun of playing pool inside a glass enclosed box. Trying to "sink" all 15 balls is a challenge every time, especially with the replay/credit version.
Very Cool. I'm trying to find a weekend to come down and check out some of these. With all of those new games that came in, are you guys going to rotate? Or, are you going to try to cram some more on the floor/expand somewhere?
