The Future of the Karasik Mandolin Project
Having Ely Karasik’s Lloyd Loar signed Gibson has been an amazing opportunity for me both professionally and personally. Recently the Karasik family has decided that the mandolin needs to be sold. To continue this project I will be needing help.
The cost of a Lloyd Loar signed Gibson is beyond what I can finance without assistance so the project will be transitioning to an LLC with investors. This method of financing is commonly used by violinists. Violins can cost in the millions of dollars and the concertmaster of the Colorado Symphony acquired the violin she plays on this way. She has been helpful by putting me in contact with her attorney who is helping me set up the business. The Llc will last 10 years and after 10 years the mandolin will be sold at its new appraised value.
There are four ways people assist in continuing this project. First is by investing in the mandolin. If you are interested in doing this please email me at mandofiddleEm@gmail.com. Second is by donating to the projects gofundme gofund.me/abfb8314. The go fund me will help cover some of the legal expenses incurred and also allows people who do not want to invest in contributing. The third way you can help is by sharing the mandolins gofundme link. The fourth way to contribute to this project is by subscribing to the Karasik Mandolin Project on youtube. czcams.com/channels/Y-V-_BFpCmZvv-7ZxLA23A.html?app=desktop.
I am looking forward to continuing this project in the future with the goal of continuing to get the Karasik Mandolin into the hands of deserving players of all levels and styles. If you are interested in participating or have an idea of a mandolin player to be featured in this series please reach out to me via email. MandofiddleEm@gmail.com.

Beautiful
Great pickin', too!
Cool❤
Yours sounds better, Mike!
Great old Monroe tune. Well played!!
Thanks, Kyle.
Beutiful version and an incredible sounding mandolin
nice...
The loar kneck looks a bit smaller in diameter than the A style mandy...could just be the angle,perhaps..... sounds incredible though!❤
Nice done..beautiful melody
Love this version. Thank you x
Great playing Shari!
she rocked. I’m proud of her performance and the work we put into this weekend
Thank you ❤
All I can say is WOW! I have never heard a mandolin played like that! I have never heard the blues played on a mandolin! And I never would have expected anybody that look like you to be playing the blues like this, you are amazing! When are you coming to Tulsa?!
Aj looks a bit under the weather. Hope she's OK. Love you guys
Michaels the only one in the game that can get that og hardcore bluegrass sound
So so good
Sounds great, but man that loar just sounds so so sweet
My only critique of this video is I can't decide whose hands to watch. The rhythm and the lead parts are both so well articulated and interesting. It's an unfair comparison to ask of viewers.
Awroit, Jim!
He rocked it
Superb, as always.
thanks
You're welcome! this was fun
Oh yes. Well done you two.
thank you!
Such a pleasure to watch this video!!
thank you!
👏👏
thanks!!
Beautiful.
Thank you!
Oh, yeah - one of my favorites. What a sweet song an a sweet mandolin. Bonus with Dave Peters' Nugget, too! Thank you , Emily and Jake.
thank you! this was a fun one to record
Was there when Dave won that mandolin. Do some digging and find his only CD. Art in America.
Best playing on that one I've heard !!
Smokin!
This is so well done and quite enjoyable! I love the mandolin, guitar and upright combination.
Super cool !!! Sounds Awesome !! Well done, I like it !!!
Sublime
Good playing and singing
👍👍👍
Holy Grail mandolin!
Had the pleasure of listening to and seeing you play last night at the Hopmonk Tavern in Sebastopol, CA last night Scott. Whoa. Blown away again. Each time I hear you and Blue Summit play around the Bay Area, I think that you all are giants. But you play with fire, passion and humility that is so refreshing. So memorable and loved your rendition of the Monkees "I'm a Believer". Great voice and a creative take on an old favorite. Looking forward to adding "City of Glass" to my collection.
Excellently done Arvind!
Simply outstanding! Speed and articulation at its best!
wow great job! having struggled with the piece I know how challenging it is (not to Ely, though!). If I'm not mistaken, you did a little variation near the end of the middle section -- it was very nice.
not a variation but…. there’s a melody on the mandola part that makes the syncopation in the c part of mandolin 1 make sense so Mike covered it I’ll text you the dots
@@thekarasikmandolinproject1195 got it. (yes, I did notice - no Mandola!)
I wonder why more don't play blues on mando....like the great Yank Rachell.
It isn't a Lloyd mando. It's a copy. That's a Big difference. It isn't even a Loar Gibson. It's a copy of a Loar Gibson.
It is a Lloyd Loar signed Gibson. It is #71839. Here’s its link on the mandolin archives www.mandolinarchive.com/gibson/serial/71839
Copy by Gibson, but a copy
no it’s not a copy. It’s the real deal.
100+ years old. Great playing!
Wow. You should be proud of your rendition. Very nice
thank you!
Beautiful - haunting; love the key changes. Wish I could play my bass like that!
Kristy rocked it.
❤
thanks!
Thank you so much. Ely would've been so proud.
thanks Randy. This was fun to put together.
Very nice!!
That's quite the Darth Tone on that today, Frank!
The economy of movement in John's right hand is amazing
I recently heard that 'ukulele' means 'dancing feet'. Maybe this mando should be called a ukulele. LOL. Great playing on a heavenly instrument. God bless Lloyd Loar.
Ukulele means "jumping flea", actually
@@roguejaina Thanks for the correction! My feet feel better now, too. LOL
@@Fernwald84 at least you're not... Flea-bitten! 😜
Awesome great licks
