Homemade Truck Camper Build, Pt 1
zhlédnutí 9KPřed 3 lety
I’m building a cedar truck camper, cabin style for my 1966 Ford F100 pickup.
You should post a new truck camper tour and also camping videos
That is a sweet looking camper their where you have that brown bent could be a toilet their great work
Man you could have cut down a lot of weight by using 2x2 construction, then 4x4 is crazy weight!
Hey buddy, those are 2x2’s! I agree, 4x4 would be crazy overkill.
I'm building one very similar to yours. The only real concern I have is how to seal the gable end that will face the wind when driving. Have you had any problems in that regard? Thank you. I see you haven't posted for a couple years and may not get this, but thanks anyway if you don't.
Hey, good luck on your build! For mine I used really good construction adhesive between all the seams and on the roof. Also extra screws on the front panel of roofing facing the wind. It’s held up good so far with no leaking!
Thank you for your response. Nice build by the way!!@@woodsybuilder8013
Way sick!
Hey, thanks!!
You did a great job.
I need to build something for my truck just stumbled on your channel, I'm a subscriber for ideas to use on a possible build
Great design layout! Did you make plans or build as you went? Also, love the truck!
Hi there, thanks so much for the comment! I sketched out a basic design and then tweaked as it came together.
@@woodsybuilder8013 love it!! Well done. Thanks for sharing you handy work with us!
First problem you got is your driving a Ford! Get you an obs chevy with a 350!
My 2023 Silverado 5.3 V8 sounds terrible in comparison to your truck.
I do love the old engine rumble
I'd suggest leaving some room with the slide in part since wood will expand over time. With a snug fit like that you might run into some issues loading it on and off your truck. Just a thought.
Thanks, I appreciate that thought. It’s been a couple years since I built it and it works fine, but I do wish I would have made it a little narrower. It would make loading easier.
Small, beautiful, efficient, I love the truck, used to have one. Great video keep up the good work.
Thanks so much! The truck is currently getting its engine rebuilt and I’m looking forward to getting back on the road next year!
Im curious on fuel mileage
Hi i was wandering where i could get the jacks you use for the camper
Hi there, I’m not sure. I got mine off an old camper that I demolished.
@@woodsybuilder8013 ok thanks
<3 64 ?
Thanks! Close, 66
That's awesome 👍 wish I could make myself one of those... might try this summer 🌞
Thanks! It was such a fun project, I hope you give it a try!
love it all
Looks great!
Thanks, appreciate the comment!
8ft bed ?
Six foot
@@woodsybuilder8013 Oh, my truck has an 8ft bed, bigger cabin 🙂 Love your build
@@wolfsburg4x4 That’s great! These little truck campers are a great project to build and enjoy.
Tomorrow I am buying a long bed 4x4 truck, and will 100% be building a truck cabin ! Thanks for the inspiration !
Oh that’s great! I just built a flatbed on my F250 and I want to build another one!
Okay I found the length and width but havent heard you say the roof height
I forgot exactly so I had to go out and measure. It’s 5 1/2 ft at the peak.
@@woodsybuilder8013 oh okay! Thanks for taking the time to do that and reply!
Whats the outside dimensions of this build? Looks great good job
Great build and such a cute puppy 😍
It is so pretty inside, very impressed
Cool! 👍 Fix up the old truck a little with some new body parts and do a low cost do it yourself paint job and it will be even cooler.
In the trucking industry there a thing called G.O.A.L, get out and look. That set up will be the most dangerous thing on the road. Make sure you have really good insurance.
Thanks for checking out my camper build. I’m familiar with “goal.” It helps that the truck has oversized mirrors so I can see both sides of the camper and also with the window in front and door in back I can see behind me. Even with these precautions I have a spotter or get out and look when I back up. Take care!
I have a 64 I wonder if it would be too much if I had this setup and also tow a small trailer with 3 dirt bikes
I have a 64 long bed and I think I'm going to do this so I can take my 2 boys camping and fishing. You did a great job it looks AWESOME
Thanks so much! I’d love to see your rig and especially if you build a camper for it! Just keep everything as light as possible and you should be okay.
I'm a new subscriber to your Channel 💙 Thanks for sharing !! ✌🏼
Love the Golden !
Thanks! He’s a great building companion:)
love the dog, the rest is....... trailer park stuff
Haha, not sure if that is a compliment or criticism, but thanks for watching!
Nice. Insulate it. Keeps cooler summer. Warmer in winter 1 inch foam
Hi, thanks for the comment. I’ve been using the camper for awhile now and I’m going to keep it uninsulated. I don’t use it often in the winter and it stays surprisingly cool if I keep the windows and screen door open.
All those ideas on how to stay cool and didn't mention the best... white paint.
A 1/2 ton pickup can carry 2000 pounds. If you are an illegal immigrant doing concrete work it can carry 3500 pounds... I regularly carry 3500 pounds in my 3/4 ton.
xDDDDDDDD
This is a 1966 F-100. It was rated for a little over 1000lbs or 1400lbs depending on tires and springs
How come you stopped uploading? I'd love to see more of this build in the wild
Hey, thanks for the comment! I’ll be making some more videos this Spring!
that's bad ass!!! what's the size of the bed of the truck and bed in the truck if you don't mind me asking
Love the artistic cut of the rafters!
Like your design👍. What is your roof pitch?
It’s about a 4/12 pitch. I didn’t want to go too high above the truck cab.
Nice work man! See you out there on the road!
I like the windows. It would be nice if regular truck toppers came with some kind of option like that.
I agree, some kind of opening or pop up windows would be a great option.
That is beautiful
your counter top is beautiful. You did a wonderful job!
Thanks! Red Cedar is so naturally beautiful.
How heavy is it ? Can you remove it without camper jacks Looks really nice !
Nice build buddy, but that tins coming off,you didn't overlap the ends correctly
Beautuful! Thanks for taking the time to share 😊.
I LOVE the truck I had a 66 years ago, wish I still had it! Cool camper!
Thanks! I’ve always had a soft spot for the old Fords, feel lucky to have one.
That’s pretty neat…
nice man!
Nicely done! Thats a good lookin camper (truck too)
Thanks!
Woodsy builder. Around where do you live. I love the nature surrounding, the bird chipping! Nice truck as well, the one that i dream to have.
Thanks for commenting, I’m in upstate NY in the Adirondacks. Lots of nature all around:)
