Homay Schmitz: First Bloom | Andrew Bove, tuba
Andrew Bove performs "First Bloom", by Homay Schmitz, a new tuba solo commissioned by the Juilliard Preparatory Division Commissioning Initiative. The goal of the initiative is to make lasting, excellent, and inclusive contributions to the repertoire studied and performed by young musicians. The program began by commissioning 31 works by composers from a range of genders, ethnicities, backgrounds, and generations. Each new work was developed in consultation with Preparatory Division faculty members to create either a new performance piece or set of etudes that are exciting to play and appropriately challenging for students of intermediate to advanced levels of musical development.
First Bloom may be performed with tuba and piano, or tuba and pre-recorded accompaniment. Sheet music available from Faber Music: www.fabermusic.com/shop/first-bloom-d49555/

We are also trying to figure out the best place to set up antiphonal brass choirs. This space has a gorgeous long, clear, and smoothly decaying reverberation. The interior has a volume of 480,000 sqm (fifth largest interior volume of any church in the world, most in th...

1:03 the Hound on trombone
All I can say is… Wow. As a trombone player myself, this truly made my day and made my heart and soul happy. Outstanding performance! I highly recommend wearing earbuds/headphones to listen to this to get the full deep rich sound and feeling.
WOW!!!!! ❤❤❤❤❤❤

Please, have compassion and this project again.
Conductor: You want me to stand in front of WHAT?!
At 2:08 the trombone sound absolutely terrifying, but the highish tuba just sounds so ominous, but love it
this video and sound tickles my brains in the right places.
Anywhere I can still purchase this FLAC, or the sheet music? What a beautiful full sound.
That’s why Cersei wanted those elephants…
Absolutely astounding
I’m surprised a college band hasn’t picked up the clip from 2:40 to play on 3rd downs at football games 😅
So umm. . . when ya'll coming back?
When my wife and I renew our vows, we'll be holding it at a lovely beer garden. After we get everyone into the barn, I plan on having this song play.
2:31 that would be me on flute 🪈 for something like this…
2:04 goose...bumps WOW!!
The most epic version of
YES
wheres the euphoniums?
Bro is that Joe Alessi?!?!?!
Yep, him and his eyebrows
That is an imperial level of low brass
2:25 , as if the beginning of that wasn’t already giving me chills, holy shit..
2:41 Orchestra Sounds Of Reggaeton Classics
im a trumpet player and i even still am always amazed at how they sound i miss playing tuba
BLASTING THIS FULL VOLUME MAKES ME FEEL POWERUFL
Seriously! WTF? Play it with one horn. Snot that had.
Its possible to find that in cd quality or flac?
I had the opportunity to study with Sam while I was at ASU. I play the horn but he let me hang out with Pat Sheridan the low brass studio and do The Breathing Gym exercises with them every morning. It was an amazing learning experience to just be around him. Afterward we would go grab bagels at the bagel place on campus and would just chill and talk music. Those were the best of times.
At 2:00, is that the guy from ratatouille
I play trombone and I'm absolutely in love!!!!!
There's like 0 brass in the real game of thrones theme which I get is a choice but a shame
So hard, so heavy so badass! Totally awesome!
Never played? Disney trombonist.
I love how each one brought his favorite headphone
3:07 Bass Euphonium?
Cimbasso
isnt a bass euphonium a tuba?
dope shitz
I’d like this to be played before my funeral, that’d give the old ladies something to talk about
Oh my, how powerful!... Not. Blasting on low brass instruments an arrangement of quarter plus eighth notes and based off of other simplistic rhythms, passing it off as a higher level musical culture, coinciding with a recent past television show's way-of-thought (media), upholding corruptedness and decadence as true power and the way to get what you want in real life... By being a slime ball. You should be ashamed of yourselves! Futhermore, counting on impressing and gaining the approval of some young person currently in a high school or middle school band program, taking advantage of them not knowing any better as to the real meaning of higher level musical ideas. You don't fool me. You really aren't all that. Wanna bet? I knew three professionals in a great orchestra (identity remaining anonymous) from the past that could still outperform you shmucks, plus put out more volume with a better type of sound. Old-timers that aren't currently performing in an orchestra or balet any longer and who are retired now, except for one. If you think me to be some clown or something too, you're wrong about that. I sing as a profession, which is harder than brass-playing anyways, plus I got my start in band on low brass in public school and afterwards at university. In addition, I've marched in DCI (Div. 1, if you know what that means. 🙂) from it's heyday around 20 years ago. So, my own credibility isn't in question here- trust me... As someone who is a performer as a voice person, recording regularly, but concentrating in Music Ed. (Wind-playing + voice). I'm not talking about any of my performances on CZcams btw, in case you feel some type of way and visit my CZcams after reading this. I've retired since from instrumental music, but am very knowledgeable about it. At least you and all those sub-par actors and actresses from that bullshit television show have something in common... Birds of a feather 🕊️. Game of Thrones? More like LAME of thrones!
Why does this sound like a super epic version of the automaton music in Helldivers XD
GUYS CMONNNN!!! Tenor trombones, bass trombones, contrabass trombones, cimbassos, bass tubas, contrabass tubas, this is every low brass players dream
Those contrabass bone notes OMG!!!
Amazing... If the solo at 1:16 was done by a Euphonium, it would sound darker and it would be very good.
Yea but Joseph allesi
When alessi does vib on the top note at 2:06 his eyebrows move up and down with his vibrato
I think I just cleared out my entire mastoid processes listening to this with my surround headphones.
The base tromone was amazing. As a trombone player in only 5th grade, watching this was mesmerizing 😅
I spent all my school years through college playing a BBb 4v tuba..my best friend next to me played contrabass trombone. We kept the players in front of us awake and taking advil many times. The best of times, I do miss them
Scheming to this music rn
