Good grief. "right ring intelligencia" Does this man not understand that both wings are of the same bird? You probably lose over 30% of your potential readers over your politics. Look at both sides. REALLY LOOK ! Yeah, tough pill to swallow. But that's where we are. It makes me think that this guy doesn't actually care about his causes. If he did, he'd work to remove the political divide BS

Fred Hampton was a true revolutionary. Transcending race to create solidarity among all working and impoverished people. Its no wonder why they took him out. May you rest in peace, you absolute legend, we will carry on your legacy - from the trailer parks of Appalachia to the poor areas of Chicago, all disadvantaged people must work together to create a better future. Unfortunately, so many poor whites listen when the rich tell them lies that their issues stem from their fellow citizens of a different skin color. In reality, all disadvantaged people share a common struggle. We cannot let the 1% divide us. Power to the people, always. Love from Appalachia. Rest in peace, you absolute legend. ✊

6:39 Palestinians have been writing, including historians 5:53 "...who was able to take photographs back then?...class dynamics back then...?" 7:20 photos commercialized 7:45 commercialization of photography starts with Armenian genocide; Armenians came to Palestine with their expertise including photography. 8:10 in Gaza 1940’s photo studios…it’s happening all over Palestine 8:30 another shift in Palestinian society: emergence of new class of urban bourgeois, not same as older land-owning aristocrats of 1800’s. 8:58 what we can call ___. They’re working in banks, economic sector, journalists…it’s a new class structure 9:28 that class has new aesthetic: dress, architecture, etc…. belongs to Arab bourgeouis; connected to Beirut, Gaza, Damascus (this new urban middle class) 10:37 you’re forced to romanticize it because times are so different. 10:58 social media…there’s still class dynamics that don’t get mentioned 11:26 [Dec 11, 1917 staged photo] the ceremony was staged 12:16 end of WWl, British occupation 1917; they came from Egypt, into Gaza, then into rest of Palestine. 9 Dec. was surrender when 2 British soldiers roamed around in Jerusalem probably looking for water or something, and they see the Arab mayor, and dignitaries, and kids holding white flag after Ottoman armies retreated. Palestinian photographed it, but the image didn’t match what British wanted…anticlimactic 13:46 British esp. General Allen B(?) wanted ceremonial photo…he tried to destroy the other [real] image 14:39 14:52 statement against Germans 1898 (who asked Ottomans to demolish wall for him). 15:22 British General wanted to [stage that] he’s not coming as conqueror 15:33 that’s a farce; this image wasn’t the truth of the nature of British colonial rule in Palestine 16:15 i’d assume there’s a scarcity from images [documents, literature, footage] from that era…because most of it was looted by Israeli regime upon establishment of settler state. 16:52 Can the every day Palestinians walk into the Israeli archives and look at their history? no 17:09 1) looting of Palestinian archives: a) [stolen in] 1948 now [restricted] in “National Library of Israel”, b) raid on PLO Research Center in Beirut in 1982, and literal kidnapping of the archive that was [later] exchanged in a prisoners exchange deal. c) many others 18:02 2) censorship British were censoring Palestinian newspapers, content to the extent Palestinian newspapers protested by printing just white pages 18:38 “Israel State Archive” is no longer a place anyone can enter: it’s digital, where they decide what to upload and what not to upload without clarity on the process behind their decisions. 18:56 “National Library of Israel” is a physical place in Jerusalem…another colonial infrastructure in the city. It’s not accessible to any Palestinian researcher from: Gaza, West Bank, diaspora. 19:43 where should we look for Palestinian history? We’re left with so much colonial input on the history of Palestine 20:03 sometimes we take only 1 step of what should be done: we look at these colonial materials critically. 20:19 [we need to] search for other sources of history. That’s why we see surge of oral history archives, and other types of archives that aren’t traditional. 20:41 Palestinians are leading the discipline on that front. 20:51 I feel rage when I see Israeli documentary film because they have such a leg up when obtaining footage and sources…that wins awards and a pseudo-sense-of-integrity. 21:16 I’m seeing the looting of Gaza: money; but also, if they’ve stolen lingerie and jewelry, who knows what kinds of things have they stolen, and how will they exploit them, and what will they benefit from. 21:30 to jump 3 decades after this [The Great Revolt of 1936-37: images] 21:58 town of [____] west of Jerusalem; town Israel has been attempting to “Israelize” for decades and decades. They’re taking oath of allegiance to Arab High Committee April 1936. 22:39 Palestinian workers, peasants, and some intellectuals were fighting against the British state, and what Ghassan Kanafani referred to as: an “axis of enemies”: Reactionary Arab leadership, Arab states surrounding Palestine, imperialist Zionist entity (British, Zionism) It was biggest revolt, certainly biggest general strike. Consequences of The Great Arab Revolt were devastating. 23:39 there was also the destruction of Gazan Municipal Archive: when you have no records of documents to maintain a city; urban order is maintained through documents of history: ownership, etc. When you eradicate that, it’s an effect that lasts for generations. 24:17 Also 1948 that happened in Yaffa; it’s same strategies repeated again and again.

I appreciate Jodi Dean's questions about Lenin's "underside", although a little repetitive and drawn-out, but Linda Loew's localized pamphlet doesn't seem to have a place here. Cliff Connolly seeks to situate Lenin in context, his, ours and others'. His call for an underlying, evolving culture and mythology of revolutionary culture is very pertinent, and is in fact the essential bedrock for all else. The relatively short life of the USA so far, plus its obsession with stripping away layers of culture as soon as they build up, both tend to militate against cultural development. Inexplicably, all the panelists have sidestepped the worldwide struggle for secularism, which I find to be a mystifying weakness not found in the Left worldwide. Why this taboo in the U.S.?

The entire talk is about finding solutions within capitalism. Although there are dispersed mentions about non-capitalist social relations or socialist production relations, there is no emphasis on how are we going to move towards socialism! Only focus is on changing attitudes of people, changing value systems and even cooperation with the state to bring change. This is pure reformism, not revolutionary politics. There can be no possibility of solving the climate crisis within capitalism. It is not sufficiently to just acknowledge that capitalism is the root cause of climate crisis, as most of the eco-socialists do. The point is to smash the capitalist state through proletarian revolution and build socialism. And this talk had no mention of this aspect. Secondly, Prof. Saito didn't even mention a single source where Marx abandons his supposedly "promethean" ideas and became an advocate of Degrowth. The idea of putting a brake on the development of productive forces instead of changing production relations is a luddite position where technology itself is presented as the main villain and capitalist production relations are not radically subverted.

Society 5.0 - Super Smart Society AIPAC & FARA Paul Baker American Political and News Junkie since Eisenhower Feb 16 If you ask me, I’d say it certainly should be registered as a foreign agent under the ‘Foreign Agent Registration Act’ (FARA). I’m certain the reason we’d hear is, it’s classified in the United States as a 501(c)(4) ‘Social Welfare Organization’ by the IRS. By regulation, such a group can “engage in some political activities, so long as that is not its primary activity”. Well, that’s humorous. Politics seems to be what the ‘American Israel Public Affairs Committee’ (AIPAC) primarily engages in. There’s no secret that, while the people doing ‘the work’ are Americans, what AIPAC does politically is determined in Tel Aviv. Why AIPAC has never been registered as a foreign agent has been asked by many people for decades. I can only assume it’s influence is so great, so pervasive that it squashes anyone who even suggests there’s a controversy about it.
